Bambi Through the Seasons

Hello Stamplings!

I have two bright and shiny cards for you today to take your mind off the real world for a few minutes. I find it very comforting to make a card I know will bring cheer to someone and I feel very blessed to have a hobby that keeps my own spirits up while I'm being isolated.

We are at the hallway point of the current Twofer Card Challenge and...oh, haha, "hallway point!" Another example of how one letter can change the entire meaning of a word! Anyfoo, I've made a Twofer to remind you that there is still a week to play along with our Spring Animals prompt!
I went a little outside-the-Easterish-animal box and chose instead to use this sweet baby fawn from Stampin' Up as the common stamp on both my card designs. (He's really quite ancient, but he's still a baby.)

Onefer
This is quite a layered and busy design for me, but I enjoyed putting it all together and I have to say, I think it's very schparkly and scrummy which is how a Christmas card should be!

I used gold glitter paper as the first layer. On top of that you will find a white card that has been die-cut with a notebook edge die from The Stamps of Life. I stenciled said layer using Delicata gold ink and a Snowflakes die by Memory Box. On top of that you will find a vellum fish-tail banner with a gold heat-embossed sediment from GKW. To the right is the little baby fawn heat-embossed in gold onto a stitched MFT circle, which is backed with a larger circle whose edges were dipped in gold ink.

If you look closely, you will see more tiny gold snowflakes falling around the fawn. Hammy did those for me. 🐹 I'm thinking if the economy really goes belly up I can use this card in lieu of a gold bar!!!

Twofer
And wallah! For this design, I traveled forward from winter to spring to show you how stamps can be versatile and how to make two distinctly different designs! This time I heat-embossed the sweet baby fawn and sediment in copper e/p on a pretty linen panel. Using my Box O' Bits (BOB), I surrounded him with a spring Memory Box Cascadia Wreath cut from a green Brusho background. Then I cut out and paper-pieced each of the flowers from various Lindy Magical backgrounds.

I hope you'll take advantage of this time of isolation to play in your craft room and join the fun over at the Twofer Card Challenge! The challenge closes at the end of day on March 24th.

Speaking of spring animals, please enjoy your St. Patrick's Day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor. I'm off to check my corned beef cooking in the crock pot ~ yummo! Take care and be safe out there!!

Two super cards using that cute fawn - in the current situation thank goodness for a goodly stash of 'stuff' and an interesting hobby to keep the mind
occupied. Stay safe

I like the traveling of the Bambi from winter to the spring on two perfectly created cards. Great gold on christmas card and fresh spring colors on the spring one.
We, crafters, can be really happy to have our hobby and to know how and where we spend the time. I hear a lot of people in self isolation have to be motivated because they don't know how to spend the time at home.
Stay at home and stay safe!
Hugs, Sonja

I don't think shelter in place means you have to stay in the hallway! Baby Bambi is adorable and looks precious in that glittery snow. I'm sure he is glad Spring has come and he is happy inside that gorgeous wreath. That linen paper adds beautiful texture to the card.

Hope you and your family are all doing well. Awesome job of using the cute deer stamp for Christmas and Spring cards. My mojo seems to have stayed behind when my vacation ended and I returned home to all these (necessary) changes. I'm having a hard enough time coming up with ideas for one card!! On a positive note, my four kids and husband are all working/schooling from home for the time being, and I love having everyone around.

I feel blessed to have this hobby too, Darnell, and also quilting. I've been going back and forth between the two as my hand will allow. I also feel blessed that we have this community of cardmakers to keep us in touch and uplifted.

That is such a sweet deer stamp. It must have taken a while - and a lot of concentration - to put all those little bits into the wreath but it was worth it.

Darling cards! I have the Bambi stamp too...was going to use it but you beat me to it. LOL Stay well and safe. Hugs from MN to you and Kevin.

Adorable little fawn!! Love the Christmas one with all the gold snowflakes. The vellum sentiment strip is perfect. The spring one is so pretty with that beautiful wreath surrounding the fawn. You have amazing patience to paper-piece all those tiny flowers.

Beautiful Spring card and a gorgeous Christmas design. Once again you have made such fantastic Twofers. I love them both. Take care and so glad we do have a hobby to keep us busy and hopefully, healthy while being isolated from the outside world.

The carrots are peeled, cabbage is clean and potatoes scrubbed waiting for their plung into the corned beef cooking liquid. Love this itty bitty dear (oops, deer). Perfect, whether Winter or Spring, for this challenge.

That's the sweetest little fawn and both very pretty cards! I love that you did the embossing. Your Christmas card with the extra layers is still relatively sleek in my book. The wreath on your other card exclaims "spring" even without the sentiment. Super adorable and cheerful! I really do have a weakness for critter cards, so I loved this challenge. Thanks, Darnell!

Cheryl W. said...

Ooooh, I really like both your cards. All that gold on the Christmas card is so opulent! Whoever receives that one will think they've won the lottery. The spring card is fresh and bright and your oh-so-sweet fawn looks perfect as the focal point. BTW, I got a notice that Junkiefest has been canceled. Boo hoo!

I am really not a deer fan, but those bambies are cute! But Hammy wins - so sorry - he is just cuteness overload!

One of the things I love about you Darnell is that you find typos and autocorrect as funny as I do!
These are gorgeous cards! I used to have this bambi style fawn - sold alas! - and he's as comfy being the star of a Christmas card as romping about in the spring wreath - and what a wreath!
Take care of you and yours, Vicky x

Adorable little fawn and both cards are super cute. Had a chuckle about the amount of gold on card number one x. Wonderful inspiration Darnell, thank you and stay safe x.

Hi Dolly! Bambi seems so happy, whether it's winter or spring. :) Sweet little deer! Your Christmas card is gold-i-licious! Love all the shiny and sparkly bits. Your stenciled snowflakes on vellum turned out amazing. Need to try that!

And that spring wreath is gorgeous with the sparkle from the paper piece magicals. The camera caught every bit of shine. Beautiful card! Sorry I haven't played along again this month. I don't have spring animals, but did find a baby stamp set the other day with plushes. Don't know if I'll get one done in time. Major changes for me right now ... more to come soon. Love, Lolly

I love it when a stamp can be used in lots of different ways Darnell and your sweet bambi is a great example of that. Both cards are fabulous but your spring floral wreath is just the perfect frame. Thanks for playing along with my CAS spring flower challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

Well my friend, I just love both cards! Your snippets card doesn't say what is your snippet - I think the vellum perhaps? I just love how you switched from Christmas to Spring like you did. Hope you're doing OK - we went into serious lockdown today and likely to be so for at least three weeks.
