Metallica Thanksgiving and Christmas

Hello Stamplings!

This is the time of year when we get out all our gold and silver papers and embossing powders and utensils. Who actually has a sterling silver service that they bring out for special occasions? Or are you modern and you use Great-Grandma's set for everyday?

I never had any of that, although I do have the Mister's grandmother's small teapot in the bookshelf, which I polish now and then. Mostly then. Now is spent playing with those papers and powders I mentioned.

Like this.
Just to be different, haha, I made two of them.
Uber QACAS design again because, you know, time. Prolly you will be seeing uber short posts (short by my standards) from me for the next month for the same reason. The sediment is NBUS from Lawn Fawn and the leaves are from Concord & 9th.

Christmas wants to shine, too, you know!
I received the snowflake frame from Lolly recently so instead of putting it away, I came up with the novel idea (for me) of immediately making a card with it, all golden and delicious! The sediment is from MFT. I think. And lest you think Hammy did nothing to help with these cards, you're right. He's off this week with the family celebrating an early Thanksgiving!

These are fantastic with silver and gold! Love the grey background and the delicate dies on the 2nd card, but that gold Christmas card is a true beauty! We're under a blanket of white stuff right now with no end in sight yet. Who stole autumn?

OOOOH! Shiny! Yes, I'm like a magpie so I may steal some of these ideas. Anyways, all three are fabulous so you achieved your goal. I fully understand the time crunch, by the way.

I am always in total awe of your CAS cards and those first two are stunning. I love the Christmas card too, the gold and white are so beautiful together.

I do have a few bits and pieces from my Grandmother and Mother, sadly packed away in the attic - I really should get them out and use them.... Hugs, Annie xxx

Fabulous Metallics Darnell. Those leaves are fabulous I need to play with mine too. Time is running faster than usual...

Two really beautiful cards Darnell, especially love the first one.
Well I have to hold my hand up and say I do have a silver service that is brought out for special occasions.
But a few years ago I started to use some of it as I thought I may as well and neither of my girls would want it, not modern enough for them. I have also started using my best dinner and tea place settings as that would not be in their taste either. I have had them for knocking on for 50 years and they have not been used enough really. My daughters are 46 and 44 and still modern. So I think some charity shop will be in for a good package.

I love the two ears of wheat in gold and silver, just so pretty Darnell, and two great leaves in silver on the second, and my favourite that gorgeous snowflake frame and the bright gold card with the gold snowflakes over the white card is a great combination. x

All are so pretty Darnell! That gold really shines too. Beautiful cards!
Sterling.....do like I did and "gift" it all to the daughter in law when they came to visit one time. She was new to the family and had no idea how to tell me she didn't want it! (Smile!)

Holy smokes Darnel, lovin' all of the fancy shimmer and shine happening here! I'm over the moon for the first card! It is getting to be that busy time of year. Long or short posts from you are a delight any way you serve them up!

Oh, wow, you totally rocked the card-making for this post! I love the first card. Those die-cuts remind me of wheat stalks, which are perfect for Thanksgiving. The shimmer of gold on each card makes them very festive, too. I'm starting to feel the holiday pressure myself. Not sure why it has to be this way--every. single. year. I just can't seem to get it all done in a timely way. Oh well, I'll plug away until the big day arrives, and then I'll put away my crafting tools, guzzle a few bottles--oops, I mean glasses--of wine, and declare Christmas "done and dusted."

Claire said...

A whole load of metallic goodness Darnell! Always a sucker for metallic against a black background (soon to post my entry which is along similar lines.) I'm loving thos die cuts you've used. And the shiny card stock you've used in the last one is just gorgeous. It positively dazzles in the sunlight!

Well I adore how CAS this first 2 cards, the perfect placement of the leaves-just beautiful. I really like the first one and why not enter this into Time Out-the grey is perfect for the picture and the photo has gold and silver accents...go on, we love to see you there.
And always great to see you at Ink xx

What lovely QACAS cards Darnell and very arty with that stylish minimalist look.
I have to confess to having a best set of china that is brought out for guests and special occasions. This became a necessity when my children were younger and every item of pottery seemed to get a chip in it so we had the most miss-matched dishes you could ever see for day to day use lol!

Three beauties Darnell. All very elegant and I love your new snowflake frame. As for time..... well I reckon it's that old fat bloke in a red suit that's pinching it when we're not looking - otherwise how can he do so much in one night while it takes us all year to get ready for christmas and then we still don't manage to get everything done? xx

Three fab cards again Dee!love the CAS design on the first two and the super shiny snowflakes one looks very classy too. Keep seeing the news about the horrid fires near you and it's terrible and so very sad. Stay safe my lovely friend, hugs Vee xx

Your metallic cards are gorgeous Dolly!! I especially LOVE that first one with the dark gray card base. The leaves really shine on the darker background. Looks like you've had a lot of fun in the play house lately!

So I do have a silver tea service that I bring out for my high teas that I host. How old fashioned is that??!! Just seems like they go together along with the china tea cups. The tea service was a wedding gift from my aunt and uncle. My aunt and I always shared a cup of tea when I went to visit. The tea service reminds me of her. Lolly xx

What beautiful cards, Darnell. I love the simplicity and elegance of the silvers and golds against the white but that grey is my favourite. No, I don't use a silver tea service. My grandmother had one and I could always taste the metal. I'm for bone china or porcelain all the way. Thanks so much for joining our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

Stunning makes from you again Darnell. You must be the queen of the elegant and stylish QACAS look and don't those first two cards tick all the right boxes. You last card is luxurious with its brilliant gold shine. Thanks so much for popping the first card in to us at Less is More xx

I love using metallic papers to die cut, but my hoarding instinct wrestles with my creative instincts and I can barely bring myself to cut into that beautiful shiny paper..oh my. However, I would hate to leave all that glorious card stock behind for my daughter to go through (and probably throw out...horrors) after I'm gone. So...I resolve to actually use some of it now. These cards are the perfect inspiration to give me that extra push.

I remember Metallica as a heavy metal band. I prefer your lovely leaves instead.
