A site for my handmade cards, accompanied by my photos and written meanderings which are occasionally witty, often tongue-in-cheek, and rarely profound. Beginning in June 2013, you'll also see lots of NBUS, which is an acronym I coined for Never-Before-Used-Schtuff. Note: my Privacy Policy can be found at a tab below and you can find my NBUS Challenge online. I hope you'll join in the fun there! Thanks for coming by! Have a beverage and enjoy!

Tag You're It! Guest Designer

Greetings, Stamplings!

Don't forget the April Boo-Boo Hop/NBUS Challenge #11 is coming soon!
Only 8 more days!!

I hope you are doing well! I'm sorry I've been away for a week. I've missed you. The Mister's back is slowly, ever so slooooowly getting better and we are hoping to put off surgery if he takes it easy, does his exercises, and is careful. And if he's a patient patient, she says, patiently. Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers!

I'm happy to be here today as the Guest Designer for the current Tag You're It! challenge! Thanks to this fun challenge, I have to say that I am really starting to enjoy making tags. They remind me of Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) that are very popular with my British friends.

This week the featured artist we are CASEing is the uber-talented Gayatri Murali and here is my CASE of her tag to inspire you!
And here is Gayatri's tag:
Isn't that just the cutest tag?! You can see that I was inspired by Gayatri's critter, big love, and sideways sediment.

For my card, I used a snippet of SU DSP and my MFT Die-namics stitched tags die. The karazy bunny and big love are by Paper Smooches. The Happy Easter is from SU and the "with" label word is from MFT.

Now you may think to yourself, "Well, that's cute and all, but isn't Mr. Bunny sorta floating in the air like a bunnyloon?"

Indeed. But, ahaha, I did that on porpoise so I could put a score line under him like this,
so I could fold him to fit in this tiny pink envie that Hammy found in my stash!
Ba-bye

I was SO inspired I made a whole line-up of cute Easter tags and in the process, I used a lotta pp snippets!
I actually made more than this but I already sealed a few ready for mailing. For these I put Mr. Bunny on the bottom portion to make him more athletically pleasing and grounded. I mean, as much as that's possible considering the face he made for the camera!

Here's one of them attached to a card front. I'm telling you, these bunnies are everywhere!
I hope I have inspired you to join in the fun for this two-week long challenge! Even if you're not a tag-maker, just look at Gayatri's cute tag again! You can do this! A simple tag, a critter, and a sediment and you can rest assured you will bring a smile to the recipient!

I can't wait to see what you make!! YOU could be the next Guest Designer!! Click here for all the details and to see what the Design Team has made to inspire you!

Happy Easter!

Hello!

I wish you all a Happy and Blessed Easter Sunday! We've got the kidlets and their twinsters and some dear friends coming for a traditional meal of ham and lamb and lots of other yumminess for which we're very grateful. Would you like my family-favorite recipe for shrimp dip?!

I only managed to make a couple three cards for Easter this year, so this is my Easter card for YOU!
The tulips are from my NBUS "Magnolias for Her" stamp set from Altenew. The leaves wooden stamp is very old and unmarked in my stash. The sediment is from the Waltzingmouse "Compact Sentiments" set. The corner pp is from my stash. The bucket is a NBUS stamp from "Create a Garden set 2" from Rubbernecker onto which I hand-drew a handle.

It's easy to see how I was inspired by the following photo:
This is from the recent challenge at Inspired by All the Little Things. I was really so pleased with my take on the photo, if I do say so myself. Then I was so bummed to find out that the challenge doors had already closed and I was too late to enter. Owell, it was a fun card to make!

I hope to see you all back here on Friday, April Fool's Day when I'll be hosting a fun FLOP HOP featuring BIG FAT CARD BOO BOOS that embarrassed you! I'll have a linky tool and a BIG FAT PRIZE and I hope you can join in the fun! For more detailed information, please go HERE

NBUS Challenge #6 ~ Day Nine!

[Linky tool below.]

Hello! How are you? Are you sick of me yet?

I think possibly you are and that's okay cuz I would be if I were you! We only have one more day after today and NBUS Challenge #6 will be over.

I'm keeping this uber short for you. At least I'm going to try. You do realize that I never know what I'm going to write until I start so I'm usually as surprised about the journey as you are!

Here's my card:
What you see on the left is a Bluebird (Sialia sialis) whose habitat is southern Georgia. It is clear that he suffers from a thyroid condition. This non-life-threatening condition results in pale chest featherage and hugely bulging eyeballs that are usually itchy from glitter and gloss. Let's call him Barry.
One day while doing his morning constitution, Barry was astounded to see a rather large Easter chick off in the distance. Let's call her Easther.
Barry calls out to Easther, who is obviously lost because Gallus Domesticus are not normally found in this exclusive gated community. But Easther keeps her little head down, purposely toddling onward, one chicken foot in front of the other. As Barry watches, she crests the hill and bobs out of sight.
(It should be pointed out that because Barry works in Ornithology Department at the University of Georgia, his wings are permanently crossed behind his back, professorially, and as such, he was not able to fly to the lost Easther.)
By the time Barry crests the hill, the baby Easther has disappeared. Eyes bulging precariously from his head, Barry whispers, "Happy Easter, Easther. You amaze me."
Turning back the way he had come, Barry is suddenly aware that a huge shadow has passed over the sun. Too late he realizes that where there is a giant baby chick ...
~~~
Several of my Tim Holtz Bird Crazy birds are NBUS. I'm not sure this one is, but I'm going to say it is or otherwise I will be fired as NBUS Challenge Chairman. I had to have these silly birds, yet I've only made a coupla cards in all this time. Recently I ordered the little wardrobe items for them and maybe you'll see them used more often once the hamsters start dressing them up like paper dolls.
The little chick is from Kristal Clear Impressions which is sadly out of business. The sediment is from Alley Way Stamps, "Words to Live By." These feathered friends were watercolored, glittered, and glossed.
Light It Up Blue
I'll be back in a few hours with an entry for the Autism Awareness hop. I'm happy to also be one of the sponsors. I hope you can join in with a card, but if not, please try to comment on as many of the lovely entries as you can. There are lots of prizes being offered by both individual bloggers as candy and by many famous retailers! The links will be provided in my next post.
Naturally, I made you a card today.
I just had to make a spring card with this adorable Paper Smooches bunny! Especially since there are a couple five challenges I was really hopping to put him in to show off his orchid "white" space:
  • Addicted to CAS: Cute. Or even stinkin' cute.
  • Butterfly Spot Challenge: C is for Corners + Butterfly.
  • CASology Cue Card: Spring.
  • Pixie's Snippets Playground: Use Those Snippets.
  • Words 2 Scrap By: The Earth Has Music.
    • Firstly, it's about spring and secondarily, it's about birds singing or howsoever you interpert it. As it applies to my card, you might be interested to know my bunny (whom Hammy and I call Towzer) can sing "Butterfly" by the BeeGees, which, as you can see, the butterflies love! Here is a verse for you...you'll have to pardon the lisp, what with his buck bunny teeth and all.
Green fields where we used to wander
Purple valleys, near my home
We would play there, beneath the sky
And then I kissed you, butterfly.
Bloggie Break
I'm going to try to take a little break from blogging after tomorrow's hop if I can stop myself from checking out the challenges! I'll still show up around Blogland now and then as I catch up on visits and commenting, especially to the NBUS entries I haven't yet visited.
My card says Happy Spring and it comes with my best wishes for Happy Easter or Happy Passover or Happy Day to you and your family! The Mister and I will be hosting Easter celebrations here on Sunday for family and friends and then I'm hosting a stamping workshop here on Tuesday. I'm looking forward to both funtivities!
Take care and enjoy your days! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!*
City Crafter Challenge Guest Star ~ Go Ombré and DJKASEing Sarah
Hello and Happy Twosday! I hope you had a lovely weekend and I hope your week delights you!
If you are looking for my NBUS Challenge #4, click HERE
Thank you to everyone who has already played!
Today it is my pleasure to be Guest Starring for another week at the City Crafter Challenge Blog! For this week's challenge, we are celebrating ombré! You may use any color of the rainbow for your ombré range.
Because I can't seem to get enough of turkoyce and teal and aqua, that was the range I chose for my inspiration cards for you.
Darnell's card
For my first card, I used some of Anita's paper and did a watercolor ombré wash using my water brush and markers and set it aside to dry. On my card front, I cut an oval using my Sizzix die and once my painted paper was dry, I cut an oval from it and inlaid it into the oval card opening. Over that I adhered the die-cut "Prim Poppy" from Memory Box and topped it off with an oval die-cut frame. The sediment is from SU. I cut it in half to be able to place one word over the other. It was inked with Kaleidacolor blue breeze.
~~~

I hope you will be able to join in this week at City Crafter! We'd love to see you there!
Take it, it's yours
And, remember,
if you use any never-before-used schtuffs,
 you can also enter your card in my NBUS Challenge #4!
Have fun!

DJKASE of Sarah

Over at Less Is More this week, the brief is to CASE one of the DT's cards. (Of course, I want to add it to my DJKASE tab at the top, so I'll call it a DJKASE.) I chose Sazzle Dazzle Sarah's card design, which is below. I hope you can see the inspiration in both of my cards today!
Sarah's card
~~~
For my second card (for Easter), I did make a shaker:
In order to accommodate my shaker, my oval sits on top on this card. The fun bead shakers are from Pretty Pink Posh. Even though it looks like I glued all those loose beads in a funky row, I dinnit. They just hung there like that for the picture, all orderly and patient. Except for that one guy. There's one in every crowd, isn't there?
The ingredients for this card are the same as for my first card, except for the sediment which is from the NBUS Waltzingmouse set, "Compact Sentiments."
Thank you, Sarah, for the privilege of DJKASEing one of your excellent works of card art ~ twice!!
