It Feels Like It Was Just Yesterday!

Hello Stamplings!

How have you bean? It seems like forever since I've seen you. Last week I shut down the computer for four days, opened a box of Get 'er Done and Hammy and I made 73 card fronts from beautiful pp I've been hoarding. The kind of beautiful watercolored pp that just needs a sediment and maybe a bit of bling, but not too much because the paper itself is the star of the card.

Each one took very little time to do once we got a rhythm going and I'm sure it will take longer to finish them off as cards! But we'll do it little by little, lit by the euphoria of filling the stash box and having accomplished something that's been on the Todo List for ages!

Speaking of ages, today we are celebrating longevity, sticktoitiveness, and contentment. My card:
I used an MFT photo booth frame. Both the young couple and the old couple are stamps by Penny Black. The beer is NBUS from Tim Holtz. I watercolored the images with my Ziggies, ahem, after I inserted them in the frames. Slap! The sediment is from Paper Smooches. I believe the numbers are from PTI.

This is a surprise card I made for The Mister to celebrate the fact that we met 50 years ago on September 5, 1969. We met at a kegger in the woods. A kegger is a gathering of college and working kids to eat junk food and drink a keg of beer. Hence the beer image! While our meeting that day was brief, it was very memorable. It took me two more weeks to catch him become his steady  girlfriend and we married a year and three months later.

~~~
I used the photo booth frame for my card because we had this photo booth picture taken shortly after we met when we were 20 years old. We adulted early in those days.
And here we are today ... I love this guy and he just gets handsomer!
Fifty years, fifty pounds, and fifty million laughs later and we still fancy each other quite a lot! We feel very blessed.
What's that? The secret? An attitude of gratitude and consideration. We've never stopping saying please and thank you. And, most importantly, separate bathrooms!
~~~

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!

Congrats on 50 years since you spied your soul mate and I hope you and the OH have many more happy years together. I suppose it will be 48 for us next March 3rd and I can still remember the day I saw his rear at the school disco but was going out with someone else at the time! It did rather stick in the mind though and it is still as pert as ever, wish I had his metabolism, still only a 32" waist.
Your card is a perfect tribute to the original meeting as well as a lovely way to celebrate it. Thanks for sharing with us at Cardz4Guyz too. :)

Photo booth pics are so much fun. It's funny when you look back at them you can see the love. I think most of us can remember the day we met our future spouse. I remember I worked with my husband's high school buddy and he wanted my phone number. His buddy said naw, she ain't that kinda girl. We were engaged two months later and married before 5 months of meeting. So, congratulations on your 50th day of meeting. I can't wait to send you a special golden anniversary card. Give us a heads up because you know we'll all forget. Well, most of us will. [Bunny]

Oh look at you both - you are adorable at any age! I have melted at the romance of this whole post - a KEGGER! In the WOODS! I love it! The card is a lovely idea and I'm sure the Mister will melt too :) The images are perfect reminders of the start of it all and beautifully coloured - in fact I think a good decision to colour them once they were in the frames! (No slaps required!) Have a very happy celebration and *raises virtual bubbly glass* here's to many more x

Congratulations on your 50 years together Darnell and how lovely to make a card to celebrate, and what a wonderful card it is too. I love the young and then older couple depicted, and the beer mug sets the scene and sits in the middle perfectly, and what great photos of your younger and older selves and you look as happy now in the second as you did in the first, and Kevin has got to love that card! Looking forward to seeing the fruits of your four days' labour too. x

Oh Darnell, I cant decide what I like most about this post, the fab card, (love the young to older idea) or the fab story about how you met, or the fab photos of you lovelies, or your tips for longevity....I follow them to the letter! You both lucked out at that Kegger, and I feel you need to write a pamphlet about acquiring the skill to become a girlfriend within two weeks and a wife within a year! Love and congrats to you both, please have another 50. Xx

Congratulations on your first meeting a wonderful start. I wonder how many of the younger generation will last with the compromises that have to be in a long marriage? You make a GREAT pair fabulous photos. Your card is just perfect I'm sure he will LOVE it. (We have been together over 55 years, so also know what it takes and we still fancy each other too.)

Separate bathrooms...the all time marriage saver. Still remember growling when we shared one. Fortunately, that didn't last too long. You two were so pretty when you were young but, have to say, I think you both have worn well and still are pretty. Don't tell Kev I called him pretty, I know how that goes over. Anyway, that card is certainly a wonderful homage to your first meeting. Based on how handsome he was, it's a good thing you didn't let any grass grow under your feet.

My heart swells! You were both so cute and you've both held up well over the years. I agree about what makes a happy marriage, including the separate bathrooms, tee hee. Rich and I were married on Labor Day weekend, so we're pretty close. I love the card you made! It's absolutely perfect, considering how you met. Gosh, I have one of these photo booth pictures in my wallet -- of me and Rich (not of you and The Mister... that would be weird). What fun, Darnell! Oh, and 73 card fronts -- wow! The secret to productivity is turning the computer off. You've got some real sticktoitiveness (sticktoitability?)!

Love the seperate bathrooms - we have 3!

Hubby and I aren't quiet so long we first meet about 32-33 years ago (married a mere 25). I gave in after about a year or so (very pesistant wasn't he!) because I needed a partner for a function the rest is history!

By the way I love your card.

Both pics are beautiful and it is great that you are still laughing together! Think that is so important in a relationship.... Cangrats on being such an example for so many people who think it is all about the first year-feeling and for all of those who forget to work on their relationship! Hugs, Gerrina P.s. Oeps, almost forgot to tell you that I think your card is a beaty!

Cute card...so perfect! I sometimes give hubby a card on the date of the day we met...but he seems not to remember that day... (Maybe that's a man thing!)
But, afterall it was a long time agao. We married 5 and 1/2 years after we met.
(That may not be true...because Jim remembers meeting me when I was 4 years old! I don't remember that! He would have only been 5 1/2 so I'm not sure that he really does remember that) But his Mother did verify that we were probably about that age when we met for the first time.

I also have one of those photo booth pictures of us too. but we are "kissing" on ours...

You're so fabulous Darnell and Mister! I hope that me and hubby get to 50 years together - we are at 10 in a few days time and that is long enough!
