Eunice

Eunice loved performing at birthday parties for the little kids. They were always delighted with her performance and clapped like little maniacs. She hated the fact that she had only been allowed to perform at adult parties since that incident in 2015 outside of Chicago.

Since that time, Eunice had made it through her probation, done her community service, and sought medical help. Her psychiatrist and her veterinarian had determined that Eunice could not tolerate the sugar in the cupcake she devoured at the end of her performance. In order for the show to go on, a sugar-free gluten-free recipe had been developed and Eunice was now performing to the high standards of the Association of Hula Hooping Holsteins of America.

Even so, no one had hired her for a child's party until today, and that was only because Paulette had gotten sick. Eunice sat patiently waiting for the excited children to quiet down so the lights could be dimmed and the curtain raised.

Her candle headband was in place and her special giant cupcake was by her side. She glanced over at the frosting to see if the honoree was a boy or a girl. And she gasped.

Eunice could feel her udders shudder and her heart started banging around in her chest. Her bulging eyes locked on the target. You see, Eunice knew something that none of the specialists had ever suspected. It wasn't the sugar in the cupcake and the frosting that was her trigger, it was the cherry. And a cherry was only added to the top of the cupcake at a child’s party.

As the curtain started to rise, Eunice's tongue slipped out between her lips.

Oh, the desire to do something we know we shouldn't. Temptation. I can feel my own heart pounding just thinking about the frosting. Forget the cake. Poor Eunice. A lot of us can sympathize.

A cute story that most of can relate to! [Bunny]``

I feel bad for Eunice being wrongly diagnosed and having that penalty put on her. But she got through it and now she needs to avoid cherries. Has she learned her lesson? I don't know for sure until the next chapter. I'm worried about her. Great illustration and fun story.

I love the tale of Eunice and her occupation. You and Cornelia have done it again and I sure hope the cheery issue can be resolved for Eunice.

It was only a matter of time until one of your "heroines" was named after my mother. Have to say the alliterations are to die for, Hull Hooping Holsteins is fall down funny. I know how Eunice feels...I, too, have had shuddering udders, mine are just higher up.

Oh! I do feel for Eunice, I hope her hula hooping doesn't get stopped because of one of these rogue cherries, that wouldn't be fair to her. I can see Eunice eying that cherry, I wonder if she will have will power next time? Hilarious and just fabulous story, you HAVE to get these printed. Your cards should have them inserted into them. Love the card and the background.

What a great story to go with Cornelia's wonderful card with this fun cow and the stencilling works beautifully in the background, and a fun sentiment too. I love the cliffhanger at the end leaving us to wonder what exactly Eunice did to misbehave when she'd eaten a cherry. Perhaps that will be in the next chapter. x

Oh, THAT incident. I swear, I was on pins and needles to the very end. Poor Eunice. A cherry is like a drug that makes her do weird things and she simply can't help herself. However, I am wondering exactly what... Cornelia has the most fun stamps and she uses them beautifully. And your storytelling! I can see Eunice eyeing that cherry. It's not the cupcake... it's the cherry!

Oh and mayhem ensues...love the story and Cornelia's card. You two are a fabulous team.

Love the card, that image is great and I have just seen someone else using it - but using it as a double figure. Not content with treating us to such a lovely card you introduce us to another of your stories. Loved it, I had a great big smile on my face all the way through - the last line had me laughing out loud. Keep the stories going Darnell, you are a treasure.
