A site for my handmade cards, accompanied by my photos and written meanderings which are occasionally witty, often tongue-in-cheek, and rarely profound. Beginning in June 2013, you'll also see lots of NBUS, which is an acronym I coined for Never-Before-Used-Schtuff. Note: my Privacy Policy can be found at a tab below and you can find my NBUS Challenge online. I hope you'll join in the fun there! Thanks for coming by! Have a beverage and enjoy!

WOYWW #262

Hello Everybody!

Welcome to the World Wide Web of What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (WOYWW)*. This edition is a follow-up to the 260th edition celebrating the 5th Anniversary of WOYWW! My desk today shows you the amazing, faffilicious, and remarkable ATCs I received in the swaperoo!

Thanks to the magic of a monkey pic, I fingered out how to label them for you! I'm feeling pretty smarty pantaloons about that! I didn't put the webs under the names because you can find these artists via the hop list, but if that doesn't work for you, feel free to mask me.
I have a few more coming (so beciting!); in fact, here are two more delicacies that arrived just as I was drafting this:
Thank you everyone who swapped with me! They are all priceless and precious treasures and I LOVE them! I'm looking forward to seeing yours!

~~~
Real quick, I hope Julia doesn't mind me telling my WOYWW friends about my NBUS Challenge since I'm not selling anything for anybody. It's in celebration of all my bloggie friends and as motivation to use that NBUS! If you would like to participate (and I hope you do!), here is the party link with all the deets!!
I'd like to thank fellow desker and talented graphic artist Nikki for making this brilliant button for my challenge:
Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)
I hired her after I saw the terrific buttons she made for Julia for the WOYWW 5th Anniversary hop. Thank you, again, Nikki! Isn't WOYWW an incredible network?!
And I had to share this very relatable funny I just saw yesterday on Facebook:
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!**
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, with your number, so I can be sure and return the flavor! We are getting the grand twinglesons and their dog Duke for five days starting tomorrow, WHOORAY!! It may take me the whole week to get to you, but as long as moody Blogger will let me, I'll get there!
*Edited to add this message from our WOYWW hostess Julia's best friend, Jan:
There will not be a WOYWW link today, I've just heard from Julia, she has been taken ill whilst on holiday and is in hospital. Not life threatening but she is not well. PLEASE do not email her, if you want to send a message, then do it through me. She won't be home until next week, so I don't know if there's going to be a WOYWW next week either.  Sorry, I don't have any more info at the moment but will let you know with updates as soon as I get them. Jan xx
WOYWW Happy Fifth Anniversary ATC SWAPeroo!
Hi There!!
Happy Hump Day and Happy 5th Anniversary to What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (WOYWW)!
The above link will tell you all about the details of WOYWW and since this is a hop, I'll get right to it. It's been five years since the genius behind WOYWW (Ms. Julia Dunnit) thought it would be fun to start a linky hop whereby we would post a picture of our desks once a week only on Wednesdays and share a little something about what's going on in our crafty lives. The hop grew and grew and grew until now there are close to a hunnert participants weekly, sometimes lots more.
To celebrate the anniversaries, Julia decided to add a twist to the desk-hopping by having the deskers voluntarily exchange Artist Trading Cards (ATCs). Three years ago was my very first time making an ATC and I only made one. Last year, I made five. This year I made twenty.
So here is my desk laden with all things ATC:
Here is a close-up of my ATCs:
Of course, I had to figure out a way to incorporate my byline of LITS ~ life is too short! Before you go thinking I'm the cleverest artist ever, I'll let you know that K and his Company made those fab purses, not me!
Thank you Julia for hosting this fun swap again this year! Happy Anniversary to you and to all my fellow WOYWW hoppers who have become friends over the years!
Oh, dratcicle, I should have put the date on the sign, but that's okay, our posts are dated. I will happily swap ATCs with the person immediately below me in the link who has astrickersized his/her name. If anyone else would like to swap with me, please let me know at darnell dot knauss at gmail dot com. I have five left unspoken for, first-come, first served.
I'm already looking forward to next week and more when I and others will post photos of the ATCs  received from around the world!
~~~

Real quick, you guys, I just had to share these photos with you because many of you have come to know about our "pet" hummingbird Hitler through my WOYWW posts. About a year and a half ago, I bought the little spoiled bratbird this fancy-schmancy swing so that he could sit comfortably and regally while keeping an evil eye on "his" feeder. Well, he totally ignored it until yesterday! I almost fell over when I saw him through the window, sitting there like the little miniature king he is!

Naturally I took 150 photos, but I narrowed it down to two for you:

Hitler on the left, feeder on the right.

Enjoy your day and the Anniversary Swap Hop! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by (and leave your WOYWW number), so I can be sure and return the flavor!

WOYWW4 (#208) - Happy Fourth Anniversary and ATC Swap

What a day for a party!

I'm joining other frolickers in a special celebration in honor of Ms. Julia Dunnit's FOURTH Anniversary hosting What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday (WOYWW).  Who would have thought that a silly notion to pop a linky tool on a post inviting crafters to show a picture of their workdesks for others to visit would take off like the rocket it has?  Well done, Julia!  Happy Anniversary and many, many more!!

For those that want to participate, this anniversary celebration includes an ATC swap.  ATC stands for "Artist Trading Card" and the size is 3.5" x 2.5".  Many of you make the most awe-mazing ATCs, I can't even believe it.  They are true works of art that should be domed under glass and put in art museums!  This is only my second time making an ATC.  My first was a year ago for the third anniversary WOYWW ATC swap.

As you might know, I'm a CAS (clean and simple) kinda girl and ATCs are usually intricate, inky, and multi-layered art pieces.  But I'm also a "Hey, look, a party!" (HLAP) kinda girl and so I'm joining in.

Here is my desk on a rare cloudy and muggy day the end of May:
I pinned my ATCs to a cardboard.  Here are the fronts . . .
 and here are the backs . . .

They aren't very layered and inky, but they're "me."  The hardest part was coming up with a design idea, but once I spied a stamp from PTI ("Cupcakes and Sentiments") that has been sitting on my desk for ages, waiting to be shared, I thought, "Well, duh, of course!"  The stamp actually says, "Life is Too Short, Eat Dessert First."   I only used the first part because that has become the catch phrase for my blog, so it seemed perfect!

I started by making a template to be traced and cut from chipboard.  I drafted Mister for this job, which he kindly did for me one evening while watching the boob tube.  Me and my Arthur Istic middle finger on my cutting hand really appreciated his help!  I glued designer paper, my sediment, and wood veneer clocks to the chipboard; some were sponged with Distress Inks.

Instead of hands on the clocks, I thought that butterflies or birds were just the thing to complete the theme.  I mean, another way of saying, "life is too short" is to say, "time flies," right?  I finished off the edges of each ATC with a piece of black shoe lace and signed the back.  And there you have it.  One of my ATCs will "wing" its way to the * under my name in the hop and the others will be posted as well.

Thank you to everyone who joins in the fun at WOYWW and takes the time to visit the Playhouse and comment!  If you stopped by, please let me know you were here so I can make sure and return the flavor.  I'm hoping to visit LOTS of you this week!

Mwah!  Oh, and Cheers!  The drinks trolley is heading your way!

Life Is Too Short!

Thank you, Nikki, for the fab "4" graphic!
