Oh My Starry Stars!

Hello Stamplings!

I hope you are dry and warm where you are! Sometimes I like to think of you snuggled on the couch with your laptop in your, um, lap! Or at your desk, or sitting in the car waiting to pick up the kids from school, or at the kitchen counter. Because my posts are bosumulous, I imagine you with a libation and a snack-a-doodle-do.

Onefer

(Still raining/cloudy here so my photos aren't as bright as usual.)
I used an unmarked starry stencil for this card and I pounced my white ink pad all over it, pushing the ink through the stars and onto a black base.
I had a new juicy pad and it was fairly successful. Some stars ended up as dots, but Hammy says to tell you they are baby stars that haven't opened yet. Cool. I used my Lil Inkers Diagonal die as a star and sediment banner. The stitched star cut from glittery red paper is from MFT. Even though there is a glittery star, I'm thinking this design could be sent to any age or gender.

And now to my inspiration. I noticed that Shopping Our Stash has a fun challenge with the brief, "Pyjama Day!" I just had to play along because I treated myself to these black and starry new pjs just before Christmas:
I'm also linking to:

Twofer

As you can imagine, after I did the above pouncing, my stencil was pretty inky so when I picked it up, I immediately laid it on another piece of black card and pressed it down. When I lifted it off, I was left with this negative stencil image:
Being a good resolutionist, I turned it into a Christmas card for my second design:
I added a snowy hill for these old polar bears to play on, but I forgot to add schparkle to the hilltop because my little helper was napping.🐹

These old gals have been patiently residing in my Christmas Bits Binder for a very long time. They look like they are in a bit of shock to be out, don't they? It's my fault. Because they were in the dark for a very long time, I intended to put googly eyes on them to protect them. Of course I forgot, so now they are suffering from snow blindness. I'm told their eyes will gradually adjust to the brightness, but that walking bear is going to bump straight into that sediment and the red ink is gonna leave a stain. Oops.

Fun inspiration for the star card, Darnell - those pjs look cozy!! I should jump in to that challenge with my cardinal printed flannel ones - LOL. And oh my, adore how the inky sky turned out for your sweet polar bears!

Love your starry backgrounds Dolly! The first card is so fun, especially with the red glittery star. And I love the night sky for the polar bears frolicking in the snow. xx

FABulous cards, Darnell!! And your posting is so fun to read! What a hoot!! Your resourcefulness and quick thinking about checking the back of your stencil was a genius move because it appears the polar bears have a filtered night sky with snow flurries!

Wonderful starry background for your first card, and pretty terrific "double-dipping" with the leftovers for a second card! BTW -- GREAT pyjamas, if I do say so myself, quite appropriate for a good night's sleep!

WOW Darnell what fabulous use of the stencil - both the cards are stunning - love the starry one with the red star as a feature, but my favourite is the polar bear one - but tut tut that Hammy was slacking - not good enough.
I am generally sitting at my desk when online...

Great job on these starry cards, Darnell. I'm glad you weren't too waterlogged to get crafty! Hope you dry out soon. Crafty hugs!

How lovely! Both cards are gorgeous - I'm so into black backgrounds at the moment. So happy to have you playing along at Christmas Kickstart, happy new year, big hugs, Jo x

That big red schparkly star is awesome, Dolly! I love the angle of the sentiment strip and it breaks the background just enough to make the red star shine brighter! Great job on getting the monoprint done before the ink started to dry! I'm sure your polar bear's eyes will adjust and they can enjoy the starry sky. Two great cards, my friend!

I'm loving that sparkly red star and fun sentiment. I'm glad no bears were harmed by snow blindness. You are doing well by staying true to making a second card be Christmas and this is a delightful one.

These two black, white and red cards are fabulous Darnell, and the white stars on the black, and then the ink left on the stencil transferred to black card are both great backgrounds, and the wonderful schparkly red star, and then the sweet polar bears with bright red bows around their necks, and of course the red sentiments to match on both cards, really make two super Christmas makes. x

Love your new pyjamas - so glad they inspired your fabulous cards! Great use of red with the black and white of the stars on both cards - a gorgeous glittery red star on the first and sweet red bows for those long-neglected bears! Now off to see if any of my pyjamas will inspire a card!

Two fabulous cards Darnell, and such fun way to keep inspiration to create! :) Your new starry pyjama looks so comfy!!
Very well done using the inked stencil to print a negative version, just perfect for the polar bears!

Great cards, love what you did with the inky stencil, very clever. I am a terrible waster and never think to use the inky stencil until it is too late and I have cleaned it all up. I have just learnt from Linda's blog that it is your anniversary tomorrow. Congratulations and have a wonderful day xx

I love your new PJs and how they inspired your cards, Darnell. The bright red star shines bright in the sky and those bears are glad to be out of the dark even if they do have trouble seeing clearly. Great stamping with the stencil for their habitat.

I'm on the couch with my laptop and a cup of coffee after being outside with the dogs dodging raindrops. I haven't been able to use my laptop for quite a while, but we just got a new WiFi router and now I'm as happy as I can be. It's fun to see what you've been playing with most recently. Talk about inspiration... those pajamas are fabulous! I have a robe with stars and kitties all over it. I know... grow up! Not gonna. Your starry birthday card would be great for any gender any age, and before I forget -- thanks for playing along in our birthday challenge at Double D! I really LOVE how the second background worked out for your snow scene with the bears. Pretty cool! Aren't they pretty with their bows!

I'm absolutely starry-eyed looking at your fabulous cards. That red glitter star really pops against your black and white background. and talk about resourceful--using the inky stencil to make another starry sky background. I think the bears look ready to party in their festive bows. They just need a cocktail in their paws. Happy 2023.

Ooh, Darnell, I’m loving these starry cards! You’re right, the first card would suit any age/gender - love that big schparkly red star, and Hammy's explanation of baby stars 🤩. The monoprint from the inked stencil has made a fabulous starry background for the polar bears. Hope they adjust to the light soon 😄.
