Happy Everything!

Hello Stamplings!

Is it just me on drugs or did that week whoosh by faster than a speeding bullet?! Then again, maybe it's nice that these days are going by so fast!

Fortunately, my cards were done a while ago. I made them as a reminder that there is only one week left in the current Twofer Card Challenge where this month's prompt is F🌹L🌻O🌼W🌷E🌹R🌺S! It's wonderful to see so many wonderful blossoms in the gallery so far!
The NBUS flower image both my card designs have in common is "Flowers in Bloom" by MFT. I have tons of poppy stamps because I love poppies, but I had to add this one to my stash because it is just so open and inviting! ETA: Found out the flowers might be cosmos, not poppies. They look very like poppies once they've opened all the way, but I'm happy that now I have a cosmos stamp!

Onefer
This CAS birthday card design is pretty self-exploratory. This particular poppy reminds me of an awning or covering of some kind. Once I thought of that, it was pretty easy for my assistant to suggest an image for underneath it!

The poppy is embossed in platinum, die-cut, and colored with my Ziggies. The large and lilting sediment is from Impression Obsession, heat-embossed in copper. The stencil (which you can barely see behind the images) is by Tim Holtz and the hamster in the cup is from Your Next Stamp.

Everything, of course, has been duly winked by His Niblets and then the corners were duly chomped.
Challenges
Twofer
For my Twofer second (and different) design, I heat-embossed an old and well-loved large text background stamp from SU called En Français. Over that is the full triplet of poppies, die-cut, heat-embossed in gold, painted by me with my Ziggies, and winked by Hammy. The love sediment from Winnie & Walter is die-cut from gold to match the mat and gold-embossing.

A Milestone

Yesterday was our Golden 50th Anniversary! In the middle of a pandemic and me with a broken back and no more rodeo money coming in. But, never mind, we had a quiet day and a lovely romantic dinner with perfect steaks, baked potatoes, and champagne. Delish and devine!

We received an incredible handmade card and the most gorgeous flower bouquet from Dan and Rachel and the grandtwins.
Flanking both sides of their card are our cards to each other. It really is impossible to believe all the years that have gone by. We feel very blessed to have enjoyed every one of them and hope to have many more!

In case you're curious, here's a photo from our wedding:
Most of you are too young to remember that even back 50 years ago, there was a keen interest in toilet paper. Here you can see that the trend was for the bride to stuff it in her ears and for the groom to wear it like a medal on his chest. Naturally, we wanted to be trendy! (The Mister says I've never been obedient, but, honestly, I couldn't hear the vows!)

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!* Take care and keep safe!
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Congrats on your Golden wedding anniversary Darnell, not surprised you couldn't hear those vows, what with those earmuffs you're wearing!
I love that stamp set and have so far resisted the temptation to buy, but I thought they were cosmos flowers. Not to worry both cards look fab whatever the flowers are. Keep safe and sane. :)
So glad that you still managed to celebrate with a wonderful romantic meal and of course the champagne....Sorry to hear your rodeo 'income' has been curtailed ....Lol x. Continue to take it easy with your back x.
Both cards are fabulous Darnell. Super cute first one and the colouring on the second looks amazing x.
Yes time just zips by...why is it that the more time you have the less you have? x.
Fun post and even brought DH in to take a look at 'your' wedding photo!!!! x.
What a delightful post! Love the cards! The one with Hammy is adorable. Great use of the flower image. Congratulations and Happy 50th! What a fabulous achievement. And you still seem to like each other. Amazing! Thanks for the chuckle with your "wedding photo." That's hysterical and I suspect one of the reasons you are still married after 50 years...a healthy sense of humor. Gets one through a lot. I salute you and the Mister and wish you continued wedded bliss! Crafty hugs!
Congratulations, and Happy Anniversary!! Great wedding pic with the toilet paper accessories - lol!! Your hamster under the poppy "umbrella" is adorable, and the "love" card with that beautifully embossed background is just stunning! The card you made for your husband is so pretty; love those gorgeous hearts. I had to smile; the cards from my children, and now my husband since he has been avoiding stores this past year, look very much like the one your husband made. There is usually a very heartfelt note written inside, however, which makes them so much more meaningful than if they had just bought and signed one for me. Gorgeous card from Dan, Rachel, and your grandtwins as well.
Oh my goodness - I had no idea that your 50th anniversary was coming up - huge congrats to the two of you!!! How terribly special that you got a hand-made card from your son and his family! And from the Mister, too. Your card to him is very, very lovely. Thanks, also, for sharing your wedding photo. LOL! Your poppy two-fer cards are awesome. A totally fabulous post all-around, for sure.
Your twofer cards are both so pretty and I love the poppies. I knew you were celebrating your anniversary, but I wasn't aware it was your 50th! Huge congrats on 50 years! So you think this week whooshed by quickly, how about those 50 years? We just celebrated our 52nd anniversary in late December and it blows my mind when I think of all that time that's gone by since we married! Wow, we're all old goats now aren't we? LOL Continue celebrating - it's a very special occasion! Hugzzzz for healing and less back pain!
Donna said...
WOW! What beautiful cards. I love the first one with a complete bouquet of cosmos flowers and a wonderful golden fondness. But the second card made me smile very broadly. I can see that your Hammy posed for the card :-)
Darnell, I can't believe this is your wedding photo. You look like it is from another era, yet you live in that era! It's hard to believe the world has changed so much. But it is a wonderful memento of those times. I wish you health, happiness, joy and love for the next 50 years!
I think I need to purchase some new pants. I do believe someone was pulling my leg, by letting us believe that wedding photo was theirs. That's why one leg is a bit longer, hence needing a new pair of pants!
What a beautiful picture of the two of you wearing your TP. Happiest Anniversary to you both and many more. The flowers are stunning, both on your cards and the ones for your anniversary. I love the reminder cards, expecially the one with Hammy in the cup. I hope your pain is better too.
Happy 50th Auntie and the Mister!!! How wonderful and what a milestone! Congratulations!!! Glad your dinner you had a quiet celebration with each other. Love the handmade card from the "kids" and what beautiful flowers. You crack me up with the wedding photo though. That was a good one! I do hope your back is mending, although I'm sure it is slow to do so. The weeks do fly by, one way it is good but the other way is not so good. Live is just passing by so fast and here we sit. Loving your twofers, the one with a "hammy" look a like is so stinkin' cute! The flower makes the perfect canopy of shade. The love card is just beautiful, loving the scripty background and the love sentiment with the flowers. Stay well Auntie and keep healing! Love and hugs, Brenda
I'm glad you were able to enjoy a nice dinner and the flowers and cards are awesome (although you might want to tell the Mister that he needs to step it up a bit!)! And as for your Twofer cards, they are both fabulous and I love the idea of using the one poppy as an umbrella...have to remember that one!! Hope you're taking care of that back and that each day is a bit easier. Still sending lots of healing hugs and prayers. :0)
Congratulations on 50 years of marriage! Your description of the toilet paper wedding accessories had me laughing so loud that I woke Tessa up from her post-breakfast nap and she glared at me. I told her it was your fault so beware, she plans on getting revenge by waking Hammy up from all his naps at the next retreat. Next retreat....I'd hoped it would be this spring but I don't think we'll be travelling that soon. Damn covid.
Love both your poppy/cosmos cards. My favourite is the red one - just love the richness of the red and gold, and the elegance of the script background. But that little hamster in the cup is beyond cute - no wonder Hammy suggested that stamp.
