It's Purple Day! And Puppy Day!

Hello Stamplings!

Saying I hope you are feeling well takes on new meaning these days. 😷 But I do hope you are feeling well. If not, I made a card for you further down and I send you prayers and best wishes that you will feel better soon.

But first today, I'm happy to be a part of the Purple Day Blog Hop in support of Epilepsy Awareness!
My pastel purple card features NBUS (never-before-used-schtuff) stamps from the fun "Addicted to Rubber Stamps" set by Whimsy Stamps. I added the wee daffodil from Pink Fresh's set, "Always Flowers." The background stencil is "Nested Circles" from ARTplorations. It probably goes without saying, but I will be sending this to a stampling friend for her birthday!

Today's Purple Day Hop was organized by my friend Fikreta to raise awareness for epilepsy. Fiki has a very informative post (and a giveaway) on her blog detailing the history of Purple Day and many of the myths surrounding epilepsy.
I hope you will have the opportunity to check out Fiki's blog and the blogs of the other ladies in the Hop. Most of us know someone who struggles with this disease which does not get the attention and funding it needs. In addition to Fiki and myself, here is a list of the other card artists participating in this Hop:

To thank you for taking the time to check out today's Hop, I also have a giveaway: a $25 gift to Whimsy Stamps! Whoot! If you're a follower (and not just here for the candy), please let me know in your comment that you are interested in being in the draw. For every name entered in the drawing, I will personally donate $2 to the Epilepsy Foundation.

The gals over at the Day of the Month Card Challenge are celebrating their first birthday with a "National Puppy Day" challenge. In order to be "ah curraunt," I am featuring a poor sick puppy made from an ancient SU stamp. The sediment and dog are all on one stamp, which is very cornvenient. Hammy added the ellipses so we could put, "... please get well soon!" on the inside.

I colored the image with pencils and added a strip of Washi tape because I thought it needed a little sumpin sumpin. I feel like I've been given a gift when I open my Washi tape drawer and find a roll that perfickly matches the colors I used on an image! It doesn't take much to tickle the heck out of me.😂

Enjoy your day and be safe! No, seriously! LITS!*

Thank you to everyone who gave me names and addresses of folks who could use a card during this crisis. It occurs to me that I would like to ask you the same flavor, if you have any extra thinking of you or hello cards in your stash.

Many of you may remember me talking about my friend Verna. She has had a tough time the last five years since she had an accident with her walker and broke her neck. This week the care home she has been living in since the accident, kicked out the residents, saying they were going to sell the house. So now Verna is in a new care home and except for her son and daughter, no one can go visit her due to the pandemic, not even her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She's 95 and still sharp as a tack, but she's feeling blue. If you can send her a card (tell her you are a friend of mine), you will lift her spirits immensely ~ and your own!

Good morning, Darnell! Your cards are both adorable! I can definitely relate to your Purple Day card hehe! The dog is adorable too! I learned a lot about epilepsy during this hop. The point I keep in mind is that during a convulsive seizure you should never hold the person down or put anything in their mouth. Thank you for your generous giveaway - I'd love to be "in it to win it"! take care, and please stay safe and healthy!

So sorry about your friend. Will get a card off to her. There are so many in the nursing homes now and can't have any visitors at all. Really sad for so many.

Thank you for the link on epilepsy information. I'd love to be entered in your gift certificate drawing; your personal donation for all the entries is so generous as is your card donations to folks in the care homes near you. I'm sorry your friend was forced to move and is feeling lonely; I will send a card.

You are such a kind and generous person Darnell. Honestly I am not in the card making mood - basically I am bored, and how can that be. I decided to play with my watercolors today and hopefully that will excite me. I made a lot of cards for a craft fair that was suppose to occur on Saturday and I think my mojo is somewhere in the stack of 150 cards. Stay safe my dear. The rain does not inspire me and never has I don't like gray.

Two great cards Darnell! LOVE the sentiment in the first card and that image of the dog in the 2nd card is just too stinkin cute! And I love it too when I find matching washi tape!! (I think I have enough washi tape to match EVERY card I make if I'd only take the time to look!!!!) I've written down Verna's address and would LOVE to send her a card!! Take care. :0)

Can't we all relate to that first card. No matter how loud the one voice is, the majority rules. Your get well is cute, sure to cheer up anyone. So kind of you to support epilepsy awareness. Of course, I would love to win a prize. On to look for a card for your friend Verna.

I think most of us could be wearing a t-shirt like the one in your first card! Too cute! I still have the same ancient stamp with the sickly dog that you used - it's too cute with the washi! I'm so sorry for your friend Verna, what a horrible thing to have happen at this stage of her life. I will drop a card in the mail for her and tell her you sent me :) You're such a kind-hearted person! Hugz!

Fab cards, Darnell - especially love the purple stenciling but that skinny dog sure is sweet!! Will definitely send a card to Verna; I just sent one to my friend Ferne in CA - she's 96 and still going strong, even though she had to quit volunteering at the hospital. I feel for your friend having to move, how awful for her!! Take care and stay healthy!!

Redanne said...

The T-shirt card is wonderful and I just love that great sentiment, so useful for crafty friends, and such a great cause too. The doggie card is fabulous too!

I am so sorry to hear about Verna's predicament, what a horrible situation to be in at her age. I cannot go to the Post Office for a while but I am sure lots of your friends will send her some lovely cards. My DIL's Grandmother is 99 and in a care home, she is not allowed any visitors, not even family, this horrible virus is affecting so many people.....

Take care my friend and keep safe. Hugs, Annie xxx

Hi, Darnell....

Thank you for joining in the Purple Day Hop! What a great group of crafters! And hasn't our dear friend Fiki done such a wonderful job of organizing?! <3 Your cards both are so fun....oh, don't get me started on those voices in my head!! lol... I have written down Verna's address and will look through my stash for a card to send to the dear lady.

I am glad to be a part of this hop and to be reminded of important things abt someone having a seizure....like noting the time the seizure started. I prob wouldn't think of that!! I'd love to be part of your draw. Thank you for offering the generous prize!

Hope you are doing well during this virus thing. Stay safe and healthy.

Both your cards will bring a smile. Purple is my favorite color, so your first card appealed to me immediately. Besides that, I love the sentiment. Oh those voices, they never leave us alone!

Your sick little puppy looks so forlorn. However, his pillow definitely matches that washi tape, so he's got that goin' for him.

I will send Verna a card tomorrow. I feel so sorry for those who are in care situations like Verna and can have no visitors. The uncertainty in dealing with the Coronavirus is bad enough. but not being able to enjoy the closeness of your friends and loved ones makes it even worse.

Fabulous cards Darnell - but then yours always are... you are the Perfectionista of QACAS! Aided by hammy, of course :)
What a blow for Verna - it must be so difficult in a new environment and not being able to see extended family.
A week in isolation is bad enough without any close contact with family - two of the older grandies have had to get Chrome books for school work, and they have learned to video call me!!
So glad I have my "social life in a can"
Stay safe

Thanks for sharing your hilarious card and supporting the epilepsy hop. I have a feeling my mom has that voice in her head when it comes to stamps, lol. Your little sick puppy card makes me laugh and cry at the same time. He's soooooo pathetic!! Hope you're staying well during this crazy time.

Great cards. I like the sentiment on the shirt and the purple background for the Purple Day Hop and am interested in the drawing.

Well I suggest that you stop listening to that one out of 5 voices not telling you to buy more stamps, because it obviously has no clue! Your stenciled background is pretty in pastels and gives lovely texture to your design as well. Thanks for helping support the hop with this fun card Darnell. The fact that stands out for me is not to put anything in a person's mouth when they are having a seizure, contrary to popular belief.

As for that Get Well puppy....awk! I just love that poor sad guy with his thermometer and pale face. This would make anyone feel better.

I would love to be in the draw for the prize, and will send a card off to Verna this week. Thanks for letting us help cheer her up during this stressful period.
