Purple Hop for Epilepsy Awareness

Hello Stamplings,

Happy Tuesday! I hope you've been well since I saw you last!

You know how I've been on a mission to use my products more than once in a sitting? Well, now I've gone the other way and I'm having a hard time knowing when to stop! Case in point is today's featured item: a die called "Clustered Leaves" from Simon Says Stamp. I had fun making four QACAS cards and to keep myself interested, I varied the colors and occasions.

Onefer
This was my first card, made for today's Purple Hop. The clustered leaves were cut from a piece of Yupo colored in wildly exotic purple shades of Lindy Magicals and then posed in front of an embossed brick wall background. The accompanying sediment is from MFT's "Label Tape." Here is a closeup of the Yupo sheen and the Lindy shimmer.
Today's Purple Day Hop was organized by my friend Fikreta to raise awareness for epilepsy. Fiki has a very informative post (and a giveaway) on her blog detailing the history of Purple Day and many of the myths surrounding this disease.

I hope you will have the opportunity to check out Fiki's blog and the blogs of the other ladies in the Hop. Most of us know someone who struggles with this disease which does not get the attention and funding it needs.
In addition to Fiki and myself, here is a list of the other card artists participating in this Hop:

To thank you for taking the time to check out today's Hop, I also have a giveaway for those who are followers of my blog: a $25 gift card to Catherine Pooler! Whoot! Just let me know in your comment if you are interested in being in the draw. And for every name entered in the drawing, I will personally donate $2 to the Epilepsy Foundation.

Twofer
Isn't this die exquisite cut from vellum? The embossed swiss dots vellum I used here is from SU. The sediment is white heat-embossed. Here is a closeup of the pretty schparkle embedded in the red card stock which I've had for ages.
Threefer
From Christmas back to springtime! This time the background used to cut the die was made last May at Lolly's Retreat and I think it was Brushos on Yupo. The sediment is from PTI, embossed in platinum. Here is a closeup of the platinum shine:
Fourfer
I used a different Brusho on Yupo background piece for this die cut. A linen cover plate from PTI was used for the background. The hello sediment is from GKW and the thinking of you sediment is from Altenew.

Here is another view from above. Do you can see my BOO-BOO?
Oops. I hate it when that happens, but I wasn't about to risk destroying the panel to fix it. Please let me know in your comment if you're left-handed and you'd like to receive this pretty Happy Mail!

Recapitation

There are two giveaways in today's post for my followers! I'll have Hammy pick the winners in a coupla weeks on April 9th and I'll post the names in my Twofer post on April 10th. Please make sure I have your email address, so I can contact you if you win. If I can't contact you, another name will be drawn. Good luck!

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
*Life is too short!
Wow, Darnell, your cards are absolutely stunning! I may have to CASE your design! I don't know what Lindy Magicals are, but the result is gorgeous! This is a wonderful hop and I learned a lot about epilepsy. Thanks for your generous donation to the Epilepsy Foundation. I don't know if I'm eligible for your prize since I'm part of the hop, but it's awesome - thank you!
Thank you for your visit Darnell!
Wow, you were really on a roll with that die! I am particularly fond of the purple but also of the final "left-handed" card. This has happened to me before, lol. In the end, I think I cut the card front off (cut the base in half) and glued it on a slightly larger base, esentially increasing the size of the overall card. I also love your idea of sending it to a leftie though!
Have a wonderful day!
OMG - that's not a phrase I use very often but couldn't help myself. These four cards are all wonderful but the purple one is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. It took me a while to spot the blooper on your last card and then I got it! AS mentioned in a comment above I would just cut the base card in half and stick it to a new one or use it in some way for another project.... it's just too beautiful to waste and the sentiment is so nice xx
oldpunca said...
Great playing with the same die cut! I like them all. You've used wonderful color combinations and added nice sentiments. I would like to be left-handed to ask for your boo-boo card. :-) But I'm not.
You are always thinking about people who need help and encouraging. I'm hearing for the first time about purple day.
I'm interested to be in a draw for gift card. :-)
Four fabulous cards using this pretty die Darnell, love how different the die cuts look on each design. Your boo-boo made me smile...when my children were small they were always amazed that I could pick out their hand made cards from the rest of the class without looking inside at the name...they always made their cards this way round ....and they aren't left handed!
Hello, Darnell! I don't comment very often, but I do appreciate this blog hop! I have a nephew who has epilepsy and this is a disease that needs more attention. Thank you for being in the hop with your gorgeous cards. Love each one of them!!
I am left handed (so I would love to receive your "left handed" card!!) The colors you used for it are super pretty.
Have a great day!
How wonderful of you to make a donation for each name entered. That is so generous of you. The four cards are simply great and the purple one is perfect for the hop. My favorite is the boo boo card because of it's colors. Yep, we have all had that boo boo and now I check each time. Been too long since we talked. Tonight is good or any time. I'm going to go now to Fikreta's blog.
I love the purple leaves. What a lovely die cut and yes, please include me in your draw for the gift card. What a great cause for a blog hop. Will be checking out the other links shortly. Love the dotty vellum and your last card has me laughing. Did that myself yesterday. I stamped some 'ground' at one end of a card, didn't like it, flipped the card around and decided it made good 'sky' and added my image. Wasn't till I handed the card to my friend and she tried opening it that I realised my boo boo. Ha ha. Hugz
I think it is a great cause you are supporting. You will help many people and make others aware. Thank you for doing this
That leaf die (and the new outline one which lines up perfectly ontop of this one) are such fun. I even have the matching stencil. I certainly can see why you played with it a lot. It is addictive. YOur yupo creations are fabulous. The vellum leaves with the dots on red make for such a happy holiday card. The spring version is sweet on pink. Fabulous ness all over this post. Please leave me out of the draw.
Very interesting information about epilepsy, Dolly! Thanks for sharing the link and supporting to raise awareness.
I have never used anything but alcohol inks on Yupo and I see that I need to break that mold. Beautiful backgrounds make beautiful leaves! And you've made each card unique by varying the backgrounds. I have that have never used that side of the embossing plate. Hmmm... xoxo
I love all the various ways you used that pretty leafy design. And, yes, I see the "boo boo" and in fact, I did it two times in a row before I finally got my focal design going in the right direction. What a beautiful array of cards! Every one is just charming and I love the purples one the most. Good idea promoting Purple Day and giving us info about epilepsy. Thanks much and am sending a hug for you and all left handed folk. Have several in my family! BTW, when I booboo like this, I cut apart the card and use the front on another base and the rest for snippets.
Oh how I like a bit of wildly exotic.....the Yupo really likes the Brushos doesn’t it. How fab your cards are. We had a wear purple and donate day at Mum’s care home today. I’m thrilled that we are experience a unity of the epilepsy awareness day, for some reason some of these days aren’t always as ‘world’ reaching as their titles will have you believe!
I'd love to be included in the drawing for the prize and think your donation to the epilepsy foundation is so generous and awesome.
I love LOVE all your cards with the beautiful backgrounds and that BIG die cut leafy branch! Oh, my, your boo boo. I've done some good ones, but you've got me beat. Sorry, I'm not left handed, but what a great idea -- left handed cards. Takes a brilliant mind to come up with an idea like that! Little known fact: I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I started having a mixed seizure disorder about 30 years ago. In retrospect I can see how it started years before that. Long story which I won't go into. I take the lowest dose of med and have never had another seizure since I was diagnosed. Maybe the one grand mal zapped me straight! Darnell, you do not have to consider me for the drawing. Thank you!
Hello Darnell,
Thanks to the blog hop, I came accross your site. (I subscribed)
It's the first time I heard about Purple Day, although my sister has epilepsy (she is 52 now - and mentally disabled). - I have to check if March 26 (my birthday, so for sure I will remember) is known as epilespy awareness day here in Belgium too.
So generous of you to donate to the epilepsy foundation for every entry in your drawing. Can you please enter my name in your drawing too - thanks in advance !
I just love your cards; the leaves (great die !) are all made of so beautiful colours/backgrounds !
btw I didn't notice the error in your last card, untill I read about sending it to a left-handed person. It's original !!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations in this important, heartwarming bloghop !
Spring greetings from Belgium.
Such a lovely set of cards, Darnell. Don't you love it when a pretty die and gorgeous panels from the UFO box do most of the work for you, except adhering the panels the right side up LOL. Been there, done that, but I guess happy mail is always welcome, no matter which way you turn (or open) it. Will have to check out the hop. And yes, please include me in the draw. I do have a few things on my CP wish list, but the high international shipping costs (+ taxes and import duties) are holding me back.
Wow, wow, wow! Auntie, all these cards are just amazing and so stunning! I do love that die you used but what I love more is all the beautiful looks you got out of it. Birthday, Christmas, spring, thinking of you...it just goes on and on! The sprays you used gave beautiful results too. Such a worth while cause as well. You are such a generous lady!!! I had to laugh at the last card because I've did it so many times myself. You NEED a thin spatula, like the ones from Cricut or Silhouette as they are nice and thin to slid under and pop off that panel to fix it. I know I'm not the only one who is a leftie either! Hugs, Brenda
Amazing use of that lead die! Especially wonderful to see you taking part in the epilepsy awareness hop... Of course I'd love to be part in the drawing for the voucher... And so good of you to donate some funds by yourself as well! You are wonderful, Darnell. Thanks for joining us at Less Is More again, always good to see you! I couldn't love the brusho leaves more, the color hues look stunning!
WOW! What an amazing collection. I love that leaf die from SSS .... that's been on my wishlist forever.
Each card is so different .... love the vellum version, and the purple leaves are just stunning (love the brick wall on that one too!). And guess what .... I'm left handed, and I'm always happy to receive a Darnell Original. Sending hugs xx
Hi Darnell, I would love to be in the draw. Thank you for participating in the purple day blog hop and for your generous donation to the Epilepsy Foundation. My youngest son has epilepsy, but fortunately his seizures seem to be under control for the moment (touch wood and fingers crossed). I had no idea there were so many people whose lives were also affected by this awful condition.
I love all your card variations - a very versatile die indeed!
I had to laugh at your last card - been there done that! I usually re-trim the card and then put it on a new card base, but sending it to a left handed person seems like a much better idea! Oh you never cease to make me smile or laugh loudly!
Darnell your cards are stunning. Purple is my favorite color and sometimes can be so hard to work with. There are so many different shades. Your card covers them all in one spot. It is stunning and thank you for the epilepsy awareness, I lost a sister with epilepsy and understand how it can effect a family
You are spoiling us with this post on many levels...
It's amazing how the same die cut can look so different, so beautiful and stunning x.
The vibrancy and sparkle on the first card against the texture of the dry embossing looks stunning.
The vellum and dots looks so pretty on the second. Love the colour of the card stock against the pretty brusho's on the third.
Wow to the last one and great stamping of the sentiments on the textured background and of course loving the boo boo, which I have done before....I am not left handed but I could be to receive this card!!!! x
You saved the best for last! Even if it is a left handed card now ;-) I hate when that happens... you get it all lined up *just* right, only to find out, well, you didn't. That die has been on my Simon wish list waiting for one of those 30% off Simon products. The matching stencil jumped in my cart for this weekend's 20% sale though. Off to hop now... my mother-in-law's 2nd husband had epilepsy, though I came in just before he passed. Such a shame they haven't found a cure yet!
Fabulous collection of cards, Darnell. Your first one is gorgeous and my fave. Super cause and your donation is inspiring. Last but not least, such a generous giveaway I’d love to win! xx
Less than 2 months until we meet again... isn’t there a song about that? *lol*😂
Enjoy your Sunday. 💙
I have that die and I'm not sure I've used it much because it seems so big. You've shown me just how wrong I am, Darnell. All of your cards looks wonderful showcasing it in various mediums including that lovely polka dot vellum. With a blooper like that, I just cut the card and put the panel on another one. Which lets you know I've done that before too. ;) I'd love to add some of CP's ink to my stash. Thank your for your generosity in the giveaway and donation to epilepsy.
What a stunning collection of cards and I love the way each one uses the same die, but is absolutely different and unique! This was a treat for the eyes indeed and I love how it is supporting such a great cause. I have this die, so it was a bonus to be able to see it used so cleverly. Your color blending is stunning and you did some really amazing things with paint. Thank you for sharing your work with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
Four gorgeous cards Darnell! I love that leaf die cut and love all the ways that you used it to create opne beauty after another. I have a funny feeling that I am going to have to take a closer look at Lindy's Magicals. Something else I just might have to have!
Greta said...
I have this die & need to get it out again--what inspiration today! I especially love the first card with the Lindy Magicals--a product I actually don't have, surprisingly--haha! I'd love to be included in the draw as I don't have anything from CP either although I do have enough other stuff to open my own store! Took me a minute, but I did finally see the boo boo & you're not alone in doing that! More than once I've cut off a front & attached it to another card base, but I like the idea of sending yours to a leftie!
