Wait. What?

Hello! Happy Sunday Funday!

I hope you're having a lovely weekend!

I managed to make a card yesterday, but only the one I'm afraid. And it didn't prezackly turn out the way I contended.

Let's start with what did work.
I used a very pretty textured paper for my balloons, winked, of course. And the backing mat paper is a stunning linen paper that I picked up on a Paper Source outing with Kim and Harriet. It is paper thin (oh, haha, I just realized what a funny thing that is to say about paper!) and the shiny creamy graphic lines are somehow woven flat into the threads of the paper. It's the kind of paper that you hoard use for special occasions.

When I saw the Tag You're It Challenge with a darling tag made by Jen Mitchell, I decided their 100th challenge was a perfect special occasion.
The card base is black. The tag is made with a bookmark die from PTI, the sheep is from Paper Smooches, the fishtail banner is from My Favorite Things, the balloons and string are from Lil Inker, and the sediment is from PTI.

At the very last minute, I decided to wink my sheep's nose with a black WOS pen, as one does. Fine. But then as I gathered my card to go and take a photo, I noticed that shaking my WOS pen had caused a couple of splatters to land on my pretty paper. Bleep.

Oh, well. I just took my WOS and added more splatters like I meant to do that. But, honestly, it looked better without the splatters, if I'm honest. Honest.

But that's not as bad as what I noticed just now sitting here looking at my card.

You see, Jen's tag has a darling bear holding balloons. So instead of a bear, I used a jumping sheep and I thought it would look cute to have the balloon strings "tied" around one of his hind legs.

Only, I mean, that's not really what it looks like, does it?
No. In fact, what it looks like is the balloons are coming out of his butt!

Well, we've all heard of that idyllic Pretend World where bunnies fart rainbows. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I present you with a sheep farting balloons! And from the look on his face, I'd say he is quite enjoying the flatulation!

You're welcome.

I'm blaming it on the meds.

Pixies Crafty WorkshopWhat do you think, shall I enter the TYI challenge anyway? Mmm, perhaps not, but I know a couple of 10-year-old boys who will think this card rocks! And I know my friends over at Pixie's Snippets Playground will also get a chortle out of it!

Oh you do make me laugh! Splatters...menat to be there, sheep? well what can I say!!

Carol L said...

That's the best explanation ever for the balloons coming from the sheep's butt! I thought he was kicking up his heels and giving flight to them, but your version sounds much more reasonable........and flippin' funny! I love the color combo too. I leave you with a hearty BAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH-poof!

This is a lovely fun card Darnell and you do make me laugh! The unintended spatters and the flatulent sheep are elements to the card that I would never have questioned had you not pointed it out but anyway have given us all a Sunday morning snigger. Joking apart, this is a super card and definitely merits an entry over at TYI. x

Must admit to wondering what you thought the balloons were tied to for a minute Dippy............but I'm glad the excess air was pumping up the balloons rather than floating off into the ether! lol Fab card and if you hadn't fessed up about the splatters I would have thought it was just your wonderful artistic self coming to the fore. Definitely enter it.

Hugs.

Why not? Sheep farting balloons is no stranger than what's currently going on in the world right now. Only this is cute and clever. Personally, I like the splatters, too. Actually, like the whole card and most definitely should be shared with TYI.

Well, you did it again and made me laugh with your post and your card! I think the splatters look good and wouldn't have known that they started out as a mistake! And about the sheep farting balloons - do you think that maybe you were staring at the card for TOO long??? I wouldn't have noticed it but, of course, now that you mentioned it... I focused more on the fun googly eyes!

Hello Darnell and thank you so much for your sweet comment on my blog.
I too love the Tag You're It Challenge and I can't wait to play. You had me rolling with laughter reading about how you came out with this adorable design and about the way this balloons are just in the right place, this little sheep looks like she is just about to take flight.
I think the card looks fabulous with the accidental splatters, I think that, in card making there are no mistakes, just happy accidents.
Thank you for sharing.
Many hugs

Silly girl you are so funny. My grandsons would have a hey day talking about farting balloons. They do fart talk all the time. I once said fart to my granddaughter who was 3 or 4 and she said "fart was a bad word," and I told her not at our house (with two sons). My boys were in stitches when they found out we had an Uncle Dick - if you know what I mean. Play the card is a keeper and so delightful.

I think your card looks fantastic!
I was thinking that the balloons were lifting
the sheep off of the ground, you know, as
a celebration!

Anita in France said...

Do enter it, Darnell ... the more chortling people the merrier, my friend ... you just had us both in stitches! That paper thin paper is gorgeous and I'd never have known the splatters weren't completely intentional! The yummy balloons have a wonderful texture and shine ... is that in spite of or because of the sheeply flatulence, I wonder!! Big hugs & bisous, bisous, Anita :)

MRS DUCK said...

Hi Darnell
I'm guessing that's what inflated the balloons. Sheep guff is the eco friendly way rather than helium. Certainly,I wouldn't recommend inhaling it, as you would with helium as you would get more than a high pitched voice lol!
Great card.
Best wishes.
Ang x

Chriss Blagrave said...

Well, I think your card rocks too!love the sheen, intended or not, and I think you could duplicate this and have "hang in there" or even "celebrate each and every day, no matter what" !
You had me chortling too :))). You made an awesome card !

OMG, OMG, wait, I gotta just stop laughing. So the picture of the card came up and, I gotta admit, I did wonder what the doo dah are you doing to that sheep! Then you started talking about butts and flatulence and well........ I do like the idea of rabbits and rainbows although I can assure you that I've never found one there. Hugz

Joyce said...

This is so adorable. I like how it looks like those balloons are lifting your little sheep up by the rear legs. And, those splatters really look like you meant them to be there all along. We can just pretend, right? Thanks so much for playing along at TYI.

Marilyn said...

hahahahah... this card and your story just cracks me up, it really does. For me, I love the splatter and until you said it, it hadn't occurred to me where the balloons were coming from. But this isn't a bad thing really because after all, what fills balloons but air and air comes out of your butt so in fact, this is a very accurate portrayal of this sheep. ahhahahaa....
Anyway, I do love this, it's a fun, fun card and it made me laugh.

Great card Darnell, love it and the sheep. Just a wee bit worried your grandsons will pop the balloons and that bad air will get out.

Bobby said...

I love that goofy sheep, Darnell, and if you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't have caught on to his intestinal problems. You only dislike the spatters because you hadn't intended them but like we said in art class this morning "There are no mistakes. Only happy accidents." I think this is a quote from the late Bob Ross.

Greta said...

I think the splatters look great, but then, I've never met a splatter I didn't like--LOL. Gorgeous paper I would hoard for sure! No way to gently move the little sheep a bit or add another one on top at a different angle? Then again--the twinks will love it!

Oh, my, Darnell, only you would have a sheep having balloons come out of his but, my friend!!!! Those eyes and the expression on his face cracks me up!!! I love this fun card!!!! The papers and colours are lovely!!!! And yeah for adding some extra splatters to have it look like it was intended right from the start!!! The splatters work perfectly with the little holes in the die you've used!!!
Thanks for another wonderful post, Darnell!!! As always, you had me LOL!!!

Corrupting my innocent mind, Darnell! (Snort!)

Dearest Darnell, your post should have had a very large warning: Put Down Whatever You Are Drinking!!
Aside from that.... ROFLMAO!!! Great card, and to be honest I didn't really think it looked like the balloons were coming from his behind. But of course, once mentioned it will definitely stick out that way.
Thank you ever so much for the laugh and for sharing your talent.
