A site for my handmade cards, accompanied by my photos and written meanderings which are occasionally witty, often tongue-in-cheek, and rarely profound. Beginning in June 2013, you'll also see lots of NBUS, which is an acronym I coined for Never-Before-Used-Schtuff. Note: my Privacy Policy can be found at a tab below and you can find my NBUS Challenge online. I hope you'll join in the fun there! Thanks for coming by! Have a beverage and enjoy!

I Miss You ~ CASology #52; CFC #109; CTD #250; MUSE #25; NBUS #21

Hello Friends!

I have a fun, fun card for you today.  It is not my usual QACAS, in that it took some time to do it, but it is still CAS.  And it happily fits in several challenges!

It all started because of these two challenges:

MUSE Card Club.  I'm a big fan to Therese Calvird, our MUSE for this week's challenge.  Here is her delightful inspiration card:

I was drawn to the bright colors Therese used and the "Miss You" sediment.  I used those elements on my card and flipped the image to the left and the sediment to the right.  You'll see how I created my "story" in the different colors of my straws, as Therese did with her fab flamingos!

Colour Throwdown.  I noticed the colors of this week's challenge were right in line with the MUSE colors that Therese used.  I haven't played at CTD for quite a while, so I'm excited to be back!  Congratulations, ladies, on your FIFTH anniversary!  Talk about being leaders!  And thank you for the opportunity to win spectacular prizes from tons of awesome companies!  Here are the colors:

Again, such a great summery feel which I tried to capture on my card.

~~~
Then I took a look at this week's CASology challenge where "NEON" is the cue card word!  I have to agree with Ardyth that the MUSE colors are not only summery, they are quite neon, so I decided to include my card there, as well.
I hope you see all the inspirations I used from these challenges to make my card:
Normally I would insert a lighter color of paper in those two cutouts the designer provided at the side and along the bottom of the glass, in order to artistically show the sunshine bouncing off the glass.  I decided not to do that for this card because when I tried it, I found it distracted the eye from the fallen straw which is making a statement.  Pretty deep, huh?
~~~

And then, after I completed my card last night, I saw that this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is to use polka dots!  That couldn't have been more timely, so I'm also joining their new fun challenge.  Serena Dipity visits again, yippee!!

As usual, I have listed my ingredients at the end of the post, but I'd like to distinguish the NBUS (never-before-used-schtuff) on my card.  This time the NBUS are the shadow stamp from Paper Smooches and the lemonade die from Memory Box.  Yippee!

~~~
You will be happy to hear that we have just had two new friends join us at the Playhouse.  The first is our Mystery Guest, Paula.  As you know, we have several Mystery Guests, which I think any good Playhouse should have and we love them all!  Second, we have Deepti Stephens of Catchy Crafts.  Deepti is amazingly talented and has tons of inspiration waiting for you to soak up when you go visit her!  Welcome, Paula and Deepti, and thank you!!
~~~

Enjoy your day!  No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS*!  I hope you have a lovely weekend and manage some crafty time!

Thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse.  Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower!  I'm off to make some raspberry lemonade!!

*Life Is Too Short!

Paper:  SU! DSP, Bermuda bay, melon mambo,
  so saffron, and crumb cake; PTI white
Stamp:  CAS-ual Fridays "Calm and Gentle"
  sentiment; "Shadow" is Paper Smooches
Die:  Memory Box "Summer Lemonade"
Glossy Accents
Corner Chomper

Ahhh so refreshing! The glossy lemon is cool. So sad how the straw doesn't have a friend anymore. :(

Hi Darnell,

Thanks for the explanation of bloglovin. I think I'm ok as I can still see the blogs that I follow and hopefully those that follow me can still come and visit!

Your card is great; do I get points for noticing the straw out of the glass before you mention it? tee hee

I'm planning to join in WOYWW this week - wish me luck!

Hugs,
Kay
