Toot Toot Tuesday, Hello!
Remember this one:
"What's black and white and red all over?"
Since the question was verbal, that's what it sounded like.
The answer: "The newspaper." Groan ...
In writing, of course, you would see it thus: "What's black and white and read all over?" In which case, it would be no fun because you'd get the answer right away.
It's amazing to me that babies learn, verbally, how to extinguish all the subtle tees, meanings, and homonymanims of language.
Speaking of subtile, I came today to play in this week's Less Is More (LIM #101) challenge, which is:
BLACK and WHITE
with a touch or a splash, a hint or suggestion, a dab or a patch of
a colour of your choice!
The idea being that the black and white are predominant and the added colour is subtle. The wonderful sponsor this week is WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS.
It may be too obvious, which may be why no one else has done it, at least not before I went to bed last night, so I did it. I went there.
I'm really heart wild about the strange looking little stripey horsey. He came as a part of one of my very first stamps sets, must be 11 years ago. It was a set of foam-mounted wild animals made for children and I still use it.
I'm off to work to help out for just a couple of hours today. I'm still bruised and strained, but my back was actually better yesterday, so perhaps, as a few of you have suggested, the pratfall on the deck was just what I needed! Funny old life.
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day.
As always, thank you so much for stopping by to visit the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

You have subtle to a tee (tee hee!) love your zebra card with just a splash of red
It's funny, but with the hearing of that "I say, I say, I say", joke, my first thought was a sunburned zebra and there was one..... happily not sunburned however!
He's cute and I can see why you still use him.
Thanks so much Darnell.

A gorgeous CAS card Darnell.
What a cute card! You used my absolute favorite color combo (black and white with a touch of red). I love that combo so much that I used it for my wedding colors! Thanks for sharing your card. I'm glad you're feeling better!
He's such a happy zebra isn't he?! Fab sentiment to use with him and the little red heart is perfect. x
I love this ! The sentiment is perfect with the Zebra and the red heart pops over the heart embossing :) Cheers, Shirleyx
Hi Dolly. Great card ... now you have one that is black and white and red (read) all over :)
Sorry to hear about your spill ... hope you are back dancing around in no time! Lollxx
Luckily Dippy you have lots of "redders"........who so enjoy listening to you. Totally agree about how babies learn this crazy language of hours (!) let alone figure out how to spell it! Love your card - perfect amount of colour and I love your zebra. At last my new room is nearly ready - the last unit (which will house my mountains of stamps) arrivedtoday and have already started to fill its voluminous drawers..........yippee. Will post some photos soon.
Darnell this is not less this is more--more fabulous! I love that zebra image and your bit of scoring. I like that heart embossing is perfect. Don`t work too hard today.
You always have the perfect stamps and stuff...no kiddin' that's terrific.
BRILLIANT - it has to be another winner Darnell for sure. I see you changed your labels list to a drop down bown box - neat, I hope :) Hugs, Di xx ZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Super card. Love your zebra and the red heart is top.
Fabulous card Darnell, I love the little zebra. You've gone for one of my all time favourite colour combos - black and white with a touch of red - just love it! xx
I wondered who'd use a zebra for this challenge, and I should have guessed it would be you :) That is a downright CUTE CAS card - LOVE it!
I love your zebra stamp, Darnell! How fun that it was one of your first stamps and you still pull it out to use today. Awesome black white and "read" all over card!
i always love coming to your blog, darnell because i know i'm going to get a chuckle out of whatever you have written! thanks for making me smile!! your card is fabby with the little strippy "pony" and the fun little red heart!
I've never seen a more handsome stripey horsey! Great texture and the wee red heart is the perfect accent!
Perfect, Darnell! Glad your back is better!
Of course! Now why didn't I think of that?! I love your zebra and your fab layout Darnell. That joke amazed me when I first heard it as a child and it made me think about language in a big way - and I am also fascinated by how babies pick up all the mad nuances of language. Vicky x
Superb CAS card. I love the way you have a little texture, a little colour, a little fun and it all works together so well.
Such a happy prancing stripy pony ... I had to have a closer look and oh it was so worth it ... all the lovely texture with the embossed border and frame and the teeny heart! Fabulous! So pleased you're feeling a little better ... Anita :)
Darnell, this is just too cute for Valentine's Day. I love those embossed hearts at the bottom of your card and that heart is just the perfect touch!
your posts always make me smile
Sorry for my late visit! Thanks for Joining us this week

Yay, I found your B&W&Red post ... TOO FUNNY that you used a zebra on the card!!! Maybe a little red distress ink to make him a "sunburned zebra?!" OK, maybe not. That would be kinda not right.
Mom's other joke was the banana/orange knock knock joke. My kids love that one. It's always a challenge for them to say the right fruit first, though : )
