Less Is More 101 ~ Black & White Fun

Toot Toot Tuesday, Hello!

Remember this one:

"What's black and white and red all over?"

Since the question was verbal, that's what it sounded like.

The answer:  "The newspaper."   Groan ...

In writing, of course, you would see it thus: "What's black and white and read all over?"  In which case, it would be no fun because you'd get the answer right away.

It's amazing to me that babies learn, verbally, how to extinguish all the subtle tees, meanings, and homonymanims of language.

Speaking of subtile, I came today to play in this week's Less Is More (LIM #101) challenge, which is:

BLACK and WHITE

with a touch or a splash, a hint or suggestion, a dab or a patch of

a colour of your choice!

The idea being that the black and white are predominant and the added colour is subtle. The wonderful sponsor this week is WOW EMBOSSING POWDERS.

~~~
It may be too obvious, which may be why no one else has done it, at least not before I went to bed last night, so I did it.  I went there.
I'm really heart wild about the strange looking little stripey horsey.  He came as a part of one of my very first stamps sets, must be 11 years ago.  It was a set of foam-mounted wild animals made for children and I still use it.
~~~

I'm off to work to help out for just a couple of hours today.  I'm still bruised and strained, but my back was actually better yesterday, so perhaps, as a few of you have suggested, the pratfall on the deck was just what I needed!  Funny old life.

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by to visit the Playhouse.  Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

It's funny, but with the hearing of that "I say, I say, I say", joke, my first thought was a sunburned zebra and there was one..... happily not sunburned however!
He's cute and I can see why you still use him.
Thanks so much Darnell.

What a cute card! You used my absolute favorite color combo (black and white with a touch of red). I love that combo so much that I used it for my wedding colors! Thanks for sharing your card. I'm glad you're feeling better!

Luckily Dippy you have lots of "redders"........who so enjoy listening to you. Totally agree about how babies learn this crazy language of hours (!) let alone figure out how to spell it! Love your card - perfect amount of colour and I love your zebra. At last my new room is nearly ready - the last unit (which will house my mountains of stamps) arrivedtoday and have already started to fill its voluminous drawers..........yippee. Will post some photos soon.

Hugs.

Of course! Now why didn't I think of that?! I love your zebra and your fab layout Darnell. That joke amazed me when I first heard it as a child and it made me think about language in a big way - and I am also fascinated by how babies pick up all the mad nuances of language. Vicky x

Yay, I found your B&W&Red post ... TOO FUNNY that you used a zebra on the card!!! Maybe a little red distress ink to make him a "sunburned zebra?!" OK, maybe not. That would be kinda not right.

Mom's other joke was the banana/orange knock knock joke. My kids love that one. It's always a challenge for them to say the right fruit first, though : )
