I was going through some of my archived cards yesterday afternoon while Papa and the twins were at the park. I wanted to see if there was something I could post for today, especially something that would be fitting for this week's Less Is More challenge hosted by the delightful Mandi and Chrissie! This month they are being sponsored by an online New Zealand stamp company, Flonzcraft:
There are goodies for the winner of the challenge. Click on over to join in the fun and check out the prize details!
The LIM challenge this week is "Colour" and the colors are BLUE and GREEN, which I happen to love together.
I did find a card that I made back in 2004 which has never seen the blog of day:
Then last night, after the twins went down to sleep, I had some "Playhouse" time, so I quickly made a new updated version of it. I CASEd myself!
There is room at the bottom of the image to put a shallow sentiment as a greeting and a ground, but Frank Lee, I decided that the blossom alone makes an impact and any sentiment below would look silly and draw fed by the blueberry bloom and leafy stems. And, anyways, less is more.
BTW, the paper and the ribbon are a perfect match IRL. Don't ask me why one element changes color and the other one doesn't. It probably has something to do with the amount of chromium being displaced at the moment Curiosity made it momentous landing on Mars last night. Have you heard about that? Don't be surprised if you haven't; it would appear that the media don't have a lot of curiosity about the event.
At least they are doing a super job of covering the Olympics which seems to just get more and more exciting! Olympic Fever is everywhere. As a matter of fact, the twins are at a fun camp during the mornings this week and the theme all week is the Olympics! (Hence my ability to sit here and write this. How thankful are we all to have summer activities for kiddies?!)
I forgot to tell you that we also have our granddog, Duke, for the week. Duke is so easy-peasie and so sweet and he keeps me company. Here he is reading along with my blog as I type. He would like to see more cards with balls on them.
Before I go, I'd like you all to take a moment to welcome our new follower, CarolCel of Crazy for Cardmaking. She's very talented and very, very new to Bloggerhood, so it would be kind of you to go and visit her and leave her some love. You know we have cordials at cocktail time whenever our members are cordial! Now, please, no pushing and shoving! You can go and visit her one at a time behind Dee Corum. Thank you and welcome, Carol!
Enjoy! As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Hi Darnell, I love the way you have CASEd your own card, love the colour of the ribbon and the shape of those leaves. We did hear on the news about Curiosity landing on Mars, it was fairly big on the UK news anyway. Going over to visit your newest follower now. Enjoy the twinks! Crafty hugs, Anne x
Great CASE of your own card, Darnell! I like the ribbon pinwheel flower, and you're right, the image does stand on its own.
I really rather prefer the case of your original card Darnell, it's super.
You dog looks wonderful too.
Thanks so much

Both of these are lovely, Darnell. And you're right, the second one doesn't need a sentiment. It's perfect as is! Luke is in summer camp this week. It's a lifesaver!!!
Pretty card and so clever. Hey Darnell I laugh out loud reading your blog. Frank Lee I did see a media report about Mars...I wasn't at all surprised to see a presidential candidate there. Cordials??? Make mine a martini-vodka.
I'm Jiminy Cricket. Be well.
What shampoo does that grand doggie of yours use as I have never seen such a healthier and shinier doglet in all my years and `I could seriously do with whatever he is using for myself. Another wonderfully entertaining post from you and your casing of yourself is true genius, I am not a big fan of sentiments and agree that this requires absolutely nothing. Lovely to pass by and be entertained for free I think you should ask an entrance fee myself !
What a pretty card Darnell and very clever of you to Case yourself! And yes, I was aware of the mars landing, my boffin husband and son got up early to watch it, apparently it's very exciting stuff! xx
Such a sweet card, love that flower made from the bitty dot ribbon...just too cute!
Loved the first card (the see through ribbon), but man that second one is even better - you're absolutely right - no sentiment needed! Gorgeous application of ribbon - one that may convince me to try using it on a card myself one day.
Hi Darnell, both cards are very pretty. My favurite is the newest creation, I agree it doesn't need a sentiment. Great designs with the use of ribbon! Have fun with your grandsons, Shirleyx
Hi Darnell, both cards are very pretty with your creative use of ribbon. My favorite is the new one and I agree it doesn't need a sentiment. Have fun with your grandsons ! Shirleyx ps.. sorry if this is a duplicate, my computer battery decided to die in the middle of trying to leave a comment :)
Wonderful CASE of your original card Darnell - just perfick for the LIM challenge.
Len and I watched Curiosity on Mars yesterday morning on Tee Vee - amaaazing! But we're both old enough to clearly remember Neil Armstrong etc. on the moon which was totally heart stopping stuff.
Hugs, Di xx
FAB cards - love the commentary and your granddog looks fab too
Darnell, both your cards are lovely! I hadn't heard about Curiosity, I'll have to do some research! Duke looks very happy sitting there with you, totally huggable. :-)
Two great cards. Love your CASE of yourself. :) Ann
Two great cards ~ isn't fun to case yourself? I love the matting and angled corners! Hope you're keeping up with your twinks!
As I have a cat, I have plenty of Curiosity, thank you. Love that you CASEd yourself - the remodel is fantastic. I'd have got through a whole reel of ribbon to make that as I have a bad habit of fraying my ribbon ends at the worst possible moments. It's lovely without a sentiment - the flower says it all.
Love both cards DJ, and the fact that you have cased yourself, lol! Hope the twinks aren't wearing you out too much. Duke looks so cute, I love puppies and can't wait for the day when I'm done with work so I can have a house full!! The moth was relocated to another section of the garden where there are some big shelter plantings, it hatches into a big brown moth with pretty markings and as it only lives for about a week it seemed a shame to deny it that short little life span!!
Wonderful case of your card Darnell.
I did watch some of the coverage of Curiosity on the UK news but to be honest it doesn`t really do it for me. The olympics on the other hand is gripping viewing.
Great card Darnell. Fabulous use of ribbon, the flower is just gorgeous. xx
Love that you CASEd one of your own cards! I do love the newer version...it's so bright and cheerful!
The ribbon makes for a terrific flower
Love how it;s oversized
Thanks very much
