A Fourfer! CFC 62; Dynamic Duos #12; LIM 77 ~ Theme; and Pixie's Snippets #30

Ah, Monday!

I'm discovering that sometimes not making a card as soon as a challenge is posted can be a good thing because sometimes they play together oh so nicely!

I haven't been on for a couple of days due to twin-sitting.  In my interim, these challenges hit the airwaves:

1.  CAS-ual Fridays (CFC62)

Create a Clean And Simple card using a black card base

There is a $20 gift certificate for this week's winner, generously provided by:

2.  Dynamic Duos #12 ~ Poppy Parade and Basic Black, Extra Credit If You Use A Punch

3.  Less Is More 77 ~ Theme ~ The theme is Sewing!  It could be machine- or hand-sewing, faux or stamped . . . you can even use sewing-related images.

We'd love you to display our banner

4.  Pixie's Crafty Snippets Challenge 30 ~ Simply that, use up some of your snippets in your creation and you can join in the shenanigans on the playground!

And my card:

It's actually a lovely card coming from me, eh, what with no critters on it or otherwise whacky whimsy.  Red and black together, especially with a pop of white, are so striking.  It's fun to get extra credit for using the punches for the flowers and leaves, which I would have done anyways.

I think the "sewing" will be cool with Mandie and Chrissie at LIM because it can be "faux" sewing.  But I'm not sure if there is enough "white space."  (White space means "an area of the card which has no image, layer, or embellishment.  It can be any colour dependent on the colour of the card blank.")  I still struggle with that one unless my card base is white and I just put a tiny stamp image on it somewhere, as I am wont to do.  Then I know I have lots of white space, literate that I am.

We had a fun time with the twins!  This visit they were really into making cards in the Playhouse!  They made 14 cards!!  We had to have a reminder about cleaning up the stamps and putting them back into their proper places between cards, but overall, they do really well.

I was greeted with this at one point when I went out to see how they were doing:

When I entered I was told I couldn't come in because they were "closed."  I told them I was the owner and they were only squatters, so they couldn't keep me out.  That prompted a question and answer period about the economics of store ownership and the rights and privileges of landlords, tenants, and squatters.

I took a picture of them hard at work.  Pardon the glare and background exposure which happens when you take a photo through a window from the outside looking in.

I have to share a couple of their cards.  (Most of their creations this time were for their parents.)

One of my cards, from Henry, featuring my favorite froggies:

One of Papa's cards, from Adam.  With no example or advice from me, he made this card out of buttons laid on the card in the shape of a motorcycle!

Seriously, that's some clever card or I ain't his grandma!

And just two more photos of two brothers enjoying Fudgsicles on a hot summer day.  First one pushed the glider while the other lounged and then they switched.  They didn't talk about it, they didn't discuss who would go first, or for how long.  They just did it.

It seems like only yesterday they could both sit together on that glider, feet-to-feet.

Five minutes later, they were fighting over Legos.  But for a few minutes there it was like choreographed twin magic.

I'd like you to meet the very talented Tracy of Created by Tracy who is the latest inspiring artist to join our party!  Thank you, Tracy, and welcome!

Enjoy!  As always, thank you for stopping by for a visit.  Special thanks to you if you take a moment to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Awesome challenge card - I'm afraid I'm going to have to skip LIM this week - not even sure I can manage faux stitching (although your idea is genius!). Also wanted to say that I knew immediately that those buttons were a motorcycle, even before reading your explanation. Well done, twinks!

That motorcycle is awesome!

Love your stories about the grandchildren!

Your card is lovely...the little punched holes in the dress are effective.

I absolutely love, love, love your card, it is fantastic! There is plenty of white space on it too, even if it is black........how clever of you to fit all the challenges too. Love the cards made by the twinks, that motorcycle is fabulous, perhaps a buddy Tim Holtz replacement one day? Anne x

The motorcycle is super clever. And of course, who doesn't LOVE frogs...ah...the stamped kind. We have a bullfrog chorus nightly from all the frogs around our pool (and some of them IN the pool...geesh, I can't stand to dip them out of the skimmer.)

Oh...back to your LIM card...YOU GO GIRL! Don't know how you do it - 4 challenges in one! I'm to addle brained to do more than one or two at the most. Well done!

Lovely to see the twinks hard at work in the Playhouse! Their cards are excellent - very happy froggies and a fabulous button motorbike as well! Your card isn't bad, I suppose, but couldn't you have included a frog as well?! (If you could make that red dress for me, I'd be very very happy!)

Wonderful card Darnell - so pretty. I think the Twinks stole the show today though didn't they? Love the bicycle out of buttons - so clever! Fancy having to peek through the window of your playhouse to take a photo though :)

Hugs. Di xx

Wow gorgeous card, simply stunning in red and black. I struggle with white space too, either too much or not enough lol. Boy they certainly looked like they were having lots of fun in the mail store. Can't wait to see more of their creations. Hugs, Amanda x

Those twinks must be so happy to have their very own playhouse. Just don't give 'em the key or you'll never get back in, landlord or no! Great cards from them - the button motorbike is genius. Great card from you - I love the faux stitching.

Beautiful card, Darnell! Plenty of white space in my book to make this CAS. Maybe when I'm a grandma I will let the kids roam free in my crafting supplies, but man, I'm proud of you! Loved the silent exchange on the glider, and their masterpieces!

Your card is fab, I love it! Loving the twinks card too - that motorbike is inspired! Thank you for your comment on my camper van card - The title was a happy accident! I'm glad you spotted the double meaning, I hadn't - of course everyone will think I am really clever now! Your other suggestion was cool too. You are so good with words. xx

I'm thinking you might have some crafting competition...they definitely have your creative genes!

Your card is fabulous! I ran from the LIM challenge...anything that even hints at sewing is NOT for me!! I love what you have done with the Dynamic Duos challenge...such a creative use of the dress and it's little floral bouquet!!

How great to have those young crafters occupying your space and making such great stuff.

Enjoyed your stories about the twinks. Both cards you posted from them are so special ... but I have to say the motorcycle is amazing! I'm sure your hubby must have loved it!!
