Puffy Dogs and Puffy Clouds

Hello Stamplings!

I hope the world is treating you like the good person you are!🤗

I've had a busy week with lunches and appointments and we had a wonderful get-together with the family before the grandtwins go back to college next week for another year!** The course work is getting harder, but there is nothing like the fun of your college years!

This week is E = Embossing on the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar and for my first card, the lads and I went traveling in the Wayback Machine. (Google spellcheck wants me to call it the "Swayback" Machine!😀)

Onefer
What happened was, when we went over to see the kids on Saturday, we took Nellie and Jack to the dog park. It turns out they were having a Show-Off-Your-Collar contest and I was able to get a cute shot of of several of the pups lined up against the fence. (Nellie is in the photo, too, but she is hard to see against the white fence!)

The embossed fence e/f is from Darice. The old puffy dog stickers are from Doodlebug. The stacked sediment is from The Greetery's Birthday Blooms

Challenges
Just Us Girls: Word week: Birthday.
The Paper Players: CAS: Critters.
Twofer
The jump-off for this design came from the current sketch challenge at Freshly Made SketchesThe linen panel was die-cut using my NBUS Distant Sun Collage from Memory Box. For the card base and to fill in the sky aperture, I again went back in time and used some gold-speckled DSP I have. After the DSP was popped in the sky hole, the whole panel was embossed using my Subtle e/f from SU. The lads each added enamel dots and I finished with a tiny gold dot of punctuation. QACAS!

Other Challenges
Allsorts: Begins With "B."
Seize the Birthday: No Flowers.
I.D.E.A.S. Gallery

You will find a linky tool below for you to share your creations using your wet and/or dry embossing! Sharing your card may help motivate others out of their creative schlumps!

I love seeing what you create, visiting you, and
pinning your designs!

~~~
Enjoy your week! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!* As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!
**It is an emotive time for me and The Mister because we were exactly the twins' age when we met 56 years ago! Even to us, we look like babies in this photo, but back then it wasn't unusual to be on your own at 20 years of age, or younger. It's too expensive for kids in college to do that now.
I'm sure many of you can relate. Sometimes it seems like it was a hunnert years ago, sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday!
Time is a funny old thing.
Your pooches are so cute Darnell, all trying to be the best collared in the show! Thanks for sharing at JUGS too.
What a lovely photobooth shot of you and the mister, I have a few of those too but my OH has MUCH longer hair!! We'd bought our first house before I was 21 and married shortly after, how things have changed. The kids do things slightly differently these days. ;)
You were and are fabulous! Thank you for sharing that wonderful photo. Good luck to the twins this year! I hope they have a phenomenal year. This year is the first year I don't have a child going to college/school. It's only me for work! Your cards are a delight as per usual. So are your stories to go along with them. I hope you have a fantastic and creative week my friend
Time is a funny thing, Dolly, and the older we get the faster it goes! Your pups are adorable all lined up against the fence! I love that sparkly paper on the second card. Perfect CAS, my friend!
A happy little row of dogs lined up on the first card and some puffy clouds in the CAS second one. Thank you for joining in with the Allsorts challenge.
Two great cards! I love the emotions/memories flowing from the first card, and the second is a perfect interpretation of the sketch challenge. The offset sentiment and punction are perfect.
As for you and the Mister, happy Anniversary of sorts! I know in these days, 50 years ago is not accomplished very often, so it is great accomplishment. You both look young, beautiful and in love -- this is a great photo, Darnell!
D, I know this is a sun and a dazzling one at that, I was so hoping I could thank you for 'mooning' us this week! That paper is stunning - and this looks very much like the sun coming down lately - with all the smoke in the air we can actually take a quick peek!
Of coure I love your little lineup of pups - not one of them could be guilty of doing a thing wrong btw!
56yrs together, that's so impressive. You should be very proud. Yes, times are so different now. Love both your cards. The little puppies are very cute and your CAS sun collage is just stunning. I love it xx
Such a sweet and fun card, then a simply elegant card! Both are wonderful! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
I love that your inspiration came from the dog park. Your pooches lined up against the fence couldn't be cuter! Love that beautiful CAS card as well. What a wonderful photo of the two of you! We all looked a lot different in those days. My hair was half way down my back, and my hubbie's was nearly shoulder length. But having been together for over 50 years is definitely a very fine thing!
Darnell... I am not sure what I love more... your absolutely adorable doggie birthday card (puffy stickers...who knew?!) or the picture of you and your husband 56 years ago. Just lovely! So glad you joined Just Us Girls this week.
Darnell... ditto my comment for The Paper Players!
your line up of pups stole my heart, they are all adorable. And yes to two of you look like little kids 🤣
That is one cute line-up of dogs! They're so bright against the white fence. Thanks for sharing with us at The Paper Players.
Those dogs are adorable Darnell and your Allsorts entry so serene, many thanks for sharing.
Yep, looking back at photos can bring feelings os nostalgia along with sheer scariness. I look at the grandchildren and wonder how they would cope with marriage at 17 and motherhood at 19 somehow I did but wonder how. A different World indeed.
You are so right about the time thing. Adorable puppies card, and serene aperture one too. As I keep forgetting/running out of time I’m going to enter my last post to show we appreciate you! xxx
I love your cute little, puffy pups lined up against the fence! Fun birthday card. And your second card is absolutely gorgeous with that speckled gold paper. Two fabulous creations! Love your throwback photo, too! Thanks for playing along with us at JUGS!
Embossing is one of my most favorite techniques. I use it All. The. Time. I will definitely be adding a link a little later this week. Now to your cards. Those pooches are cute, cute, cute and cute! We often take Mickey to the dog park, but I think I need to buy him a new collar now, so he can "dress up" when we go. Your elegantly simple world is a great die-cut. This would be perfect for simple Valentines, too, using a sentiment like, "You mean the world to me." Oh dear, I've just been incentivized to go shopping online. I think I better go shut myself in a computerless room until the urge passes!
Two more fantastic cards, Darnell! I'm loving those pups all lined up and was happy to spot this in our JUGs gallery. Thanks for playing this week. Cute photo of you and the mister. My mister and I met in high school at 15 and have been together ever since! My parents eloped at 17 & 19 and are still together! Gotta love a good love story ;)
Two lovely cards! That photo of you two is wonderful. Grandkids just keep growing up. I haven't found a way to stop it.
Such awesome cards, Darnell!! Love them both, but I'm especially fond of the second one. Thanks for sharing the picture of you and the mister. I agree with you about time - 100 years or yesterday. Hard to tell the difference sometimes.
Leslie Miller said...
Where to start... Well, your first card is tugging at my heartstrings with all those adorable pups lined up against the fence. Cutest stickers ever! What a great embossing folder and a rather spectacular sentiment! A beautiful QACAS second card. The gold speckled paper... sigh. Everything just right, including the dots. You and The Mister are the sweetest pair. We grew up younger back then, and the folks before us grew up younger still. Good luck to the twins. They're going to have amazing lives, I'm certain!
Two brilliant cards Darnell and love the embossed picket fence with the quintet of cute pooches..a totally 'pawsome' card. Perhaps I should leave the funnies to you..lol. I love the twofer with the sparkly dp behind the cloud laden die cut circle and a great idea to dry emboss the whole thing which looks beautiful. I love the photo of you and the mister in your younger days, just yesterday really ..aah young love, so adorable. x
