Hello Stamplings!
How are you? Are you keeping up with your new year's resolutions now that we are about to enter the middle of the year? Oh. Sorry. Touchy subject? Not just me then? Well, never mind. Intentions are the most important thing, said no one ever, but we're all in the same boat, said everyone at some point.
Today's post is all about this month's crafty Zoom session for the Group of Seven Cardmakers! As the title indicates, we did some really cool ink blending on colored card panels. You can find detailed instructions and a video on the Group of Seven blog.
A Duofer
You can use either solid or outline stamps to heat-emboss, but I preferred the outline stamps. I gold heat-embossed the leaf stamp from the Memory Box "Harvest Love" set. Using the video instructions, I then ink-blended the corners and sides of the panel to draw the eye into the middle. If you like, you can add black ink over that, concentrating on the edges, for even more contrast.
Hammy schplattered gold and white ink over everything the panel and I added the PTI gold-embossed sediment.

This technique was so easy and effective, I actually made several cards in jewel tones, using different outline images. I'm sharing the above because I liked the effect of the blending on the green. The outline image used here was Altenew's "Leaf Canopy."

And in case you're wondering if the technique works for Christmas card designs, here's your answer! I love the festive look, especially using classic berry red and pine green card bases. The pine cone used here is from Simon's set, "The Magic of Christmas."

Beautiful cards Dolly!! Love the pretty blended colours on your lovely coloured card bases. Agree this is a fun and fairly easy, quick technique! :) I definitely will be making more cards this way ... I have a HUGE stash of coloured card stock that's been collecting dust! :) xx

Love your cards, as usual! I like inkblending on all colors with one caution: If you want a blue sky, don't color it on vanilla cardstock because it will turn green. I often do scenery on sympathy cards, and while the main card is vanilla, I make the scenery section on white then put it behind a cut-out/window.

I so love this technique, it gives a nice depth to the card. Topping it with metallic embossing really makes it shine.
Wow, love them all, especially the blue one (my favorite color). The green one is very pretty also, and can't leave out the pretty red one. Thanks for sharing this fun technique. I will definitely be giving it a try.

Wow! Three fabulous cards, so classy! The blending is vibrant and very elegant with the gold and white splatters! Love so much the sentiment label you used too!
All 3 are great! I love the blue but the green is eye popping and that Christmas card is rich. I love the splatters which lends a dreamt effect.

OMG..Your Birthday cards are gorgeous and then I just about popped out of chair when I saw your Stunning Christmas Card...WOW!!!! I am loving all the card samples by all you GO7 girls and feeling very inspired..I will be trying this technique soon...hopefully. Unfortunately all our gardening this time of year takes up all my extra time..Not at night, but by then I am ready to...SIT and catch up online...what's a girl to do..lol!!
I LOVED your GO7 technique last month...sat down one evening and made 14 circle gelli plate backgrounds in an hour and a few days later finished 7 cards, but still have not posted..at least now I have taken photos. That is a start:-)
I have a grand total of 5, 2023 Christmas cards..LOL!!!! I have an idea to help add to my stash...will share when it happens in the future:-) In the meantime, we are sure enjoying how gorgeous all our gardens are looking and Denny is ready to start planting our veggies:-) We are eating lettuce, onions, and rhubarb..yum! Such a wonderful and busy time of year..still looking at downsizing..Spring 2025 so we are soaking in and enjoying everyday on our bit of heaven:-)
Love to you and all the family...Happy Memorial Day too...I spent time at our local beautiful cemetery with family who now live in heaven..arranging 2 large buckets full of beautiful flowers from our gardens:-) A nice peaceful time enjoying memories:-)

Darnell, I love all three of your cards! I just might have to try this technique sometime soon (before I forget about it). Gotta love post COVID brain farts. I'm also hoping our crazy weather changes are not affecting you too much.
I used this technique a couple years ago, but with blue cardstock and white embossing powder. It made for a stunning holiday card. Thanks for reminding me, I think I'll make some more for the Christmas 2023.

The more I see, the more I love! It certainly looks easy and I imagine it would be hard to stop. I'm thinking of all the colors, and I do love the green. Wonderful glow in the center with this technique.
