Autumn /Characters

Hello Stamplings!

Happy November! I didn't think I would post any more autumn cards, but here I am! I hope you like it.
These images are from a favorite old set from 2012 called "Fall" from Technique Tuesday. I stamped the Autumn word using a Kaleidoscope ink pad and then smoothed the colors with a waterbrush. I colored the rake using gelly roll gold and silver metallic pens and attached the panel to a piece of gold and kraft pp. Hammy finished by winking on some schparkle. Here is a closeup:
I wanted to add some grass or leaves to ground the rake, but I gave away my tiny whatchacallit stamps. Looking around the playhouse I saw the Leafy Circle die From Simon Says ... die-cutting it from a piece of autumn-colored pp worked perfectly!

Part of the reason I wanted to do another fall card is because my friend Di at Snippets Playground is hosting a Halloween party, so I thought I would share some of my old Halloween costumes. Even if you're a long-term friend, you might get a kick out of seeing them again! We all need distractions and laughs these days!

I worked for a fun-loving law firm. In 2010, I borrowed some yard clothes from The Mister and went as a logger:
In 2011, I did Dolly Parton proud! (Looking at it now I think I look more like Mrs. Passmore, my 10th grade math teacher. She used to cross her arms over the tops of her bossoms and stick her hands in her armpits. What a character she was. And, yes, that was really her name!)
Speaking of grandmas, in 2012 I dressed as Kim Kardashian's grandmama!
You can see who she inherited her junk in the trunk from!
The things you can do with one oblong pillow!

Over the years, we have had a turnover of homeowners on our street so now we have lots of little trick-or-treaters again as kids our kid's age are now having their own kids. Hence I chose to go as a grandma again and I didn't even have to change my clothes!

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse, being a follower, and leaving me some love! Now back to my regularly-scheduled Christmas card-making extra vaganza. I think there might be a cream for that.
Love the card and what an inspired idea for the leaves! You’ve certainly brightened up my morning with your Halloween costumes😂😂😂. No trick or treaters here - so I’ve eaten the sweets!
Well that is truly a brilliant autumnal card. Thanks for joining in with the optional theme at the Snippets Playground and also for bringing along your costumes and pillow for others to play with! The Witches Brew went down well didn't it? Now looking forward to the Bonfire Party - once I find where Dudley hid Guy Fawkes' head! xxx
I'm in awe at your fabulous card, love how you inked the word and then used the glittterred pen for the rake. Those leaves were inspired, you are a clever Gal. As for your dressing up, Well! What can I say, to the fun-loving Granny? Just Good for you.
Your fall autumn card is fabulous Darnell, and I love the leaves in those wonderful colours running through the word, and the added rake and falling leaves are just perfect. What a great idea to use your Leafy Circle for them. I think your different outfits are just such fun and I love the blonde Dolly and long black hair Kim K look too, and your logger outfit is a hoot..the added padding adjusted accordingly for each..lol. x
I'm impressed with your steady hand to color that rake. Your idea for the leaves in genius and they look great. I love your costumes, especially the lumberjack.
What a fun Autumn card, and your kaleidoscope pad took me WAY back. I think mine all "merged" and became one big blob -- happy to see that someone else's still works.
And for the characters? You're one loved character! Great costumes
The autumn word is pretty cool with th spilled paint look. Fun fall card. Isn't it fun to reminisce over old pictures.
Gorgeous card and so fun seeing your previous Halloween costumes!
Best laugh of the day I'm quite sure! I was never one to dress up for Halloween unless forced to (often required in the early years of teaching elementary school), but I LOVED seeing your costumes! Like you, we have a refresh of new neighbors with young children and it was the most adorable crowd of trick-or-treaters we'd seen in years. The families all joined together which make it even more fun. Now to your lovely card! I love the sentiment with the leaves--that's a new one to me, and it's so well done-love the sparkle. Using the leaves from the wreath was a brilliant move! Happy Fall!
Oh Darnell - how I loved seeing your dressing up photos again! Such fun. And your snippets card is brilliant! How clever is the final touch of those little leaves?!
Email will be on the way shortly, your post arrived here!
Laughing my head off at your Halloween costumes! All of them are great!
Very clever autumn card with the rake and the falling leaves. Love the sentiment with the leaves embedded in it, and the way you used it as a place to lean the rake!
Oh, what fun! You always finish up with something that distracts me from your card. I love your costumes. You crack me up! We had a lot of fun with this at my work, too. But now, back to your card... I adore the "autumn" stamp and love the look with the kaleidoscope pad and bit of sparkle. Cool that the rake is leaning on it and all those little leaves raked up but more falling at the same time. I'm glad to see you shared it with us at Double D!
Love the simplicity of this autumn card, such great idea. I never knew anyone had a rake stamp before, but then I suppose in the scheme of things a stamp has probably been made for anything you can think of. I am glad to see you using it anyway. Thanks for sharing your dress up photos too. Looks like you had fun xx
Your little leaf snippets are perfect, Darnell. Always great on a card but not so much on the lawn. Love all your get-ups. Looks like Halloween has fun memories for you.
A gorgeous Autumnal card Darnell, I love the word stamp and your little leaves. Glorious colours too.
Your Halloween costumes are such fun, looks like it's a time of year you really enjoy, and how right you are, we all need a laugh these days, take care, Kate x
Your Autumn card is beautiful! Leaning the rake against the word was perfect and such a creative idea, as were the die-cut leaves. I LOVED your costume pics. The hubs and I used to dress up just to answer the door and hand out candy. These days we enjoy being in our usual Grandma and Grandpa costumes and have fun meeting the trick-or-treaters.
A wonderful card Darnell, and Hammy did a great job of winking things. Your use of the kaleidoscope pad was perfect, and the rake and leaves inspired.
Had a bit of a giggle over the costumes you have worn over the years - thanks
You've been so creative with your Halloween costumes, Dolly! Thanks for the chuckles! Love your Autumn card with the falling leaves. It looks like our yard with the leaves falling as fast as we can rake them. (Well as fast as hubby can rake them.)
What a pretty Autumn card Auntie! Looks like here, with leaves falling in huge piles. lol I just mowed them up today, but there were so many that I ended up blowing them into the field with the mower. It was a deep, carpeted layer in the yard. I love the autumn stamp, love it stamped in the mixed colors. That rake is so cool and I love how you used a wreath die to make leaves to trickle down. Love this card, but love your costumes even more over the years! How fun!! I'm not sure which I love more! lol Happy Fall! Hugs, Brenda
Love the autumn rake with the snippet leaves, Darnell - perfect for fall! I raked for hours and only got a bit of the yard done. Had to come in & rest for a week - LOL. Thanks for sharing the past costumes - very fun! We had a party at chorus; I went as Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series, complete with blond wig and a wand!
