Color Throwdown 575 GD!

Hello Stamplings!

How are you doing? I hope the new year is starting off on the right foot for you. (You know someone reading this prolly broke their ankle on New Year's Day, right? Isn't that just the way? I'm so sorry if that happened to you.)

The expression comes from a literal meaning that one should start off on the right foot because starting on the left foot is considered unlucky. History doesn't indicate how many people fall flat on their faces trying to catch themselves after they start off on their left foots, nor the cost involved in the resultant dental surgery.

To avoid all that, I'm staying in today where things are very rosy. I'm pickled tink to share that thanks to a recent win, I am this week's Guest Star Stamper over at the Color Throwdown challenge! If you aren't familiar with this fun color challenge, I hope you'll check it out!

Here is my card to inspire you:
From the angle below, you can see the glimmer of the gold-embossed sediment. It's long been a favorite of mine and a good one to recall at the start of a new year. Or every morning.
The cattail die is from Memory Box, called "Golden Cattails." I watercolored it with my Ziggies. Simples.

Here are the beautiful colors for the current Color Throwdown challenge:

The colors are kraft, gold, green, and white. The possibilities are endless, and I can't wait to see what you create! The challenge is open until Monday, January 13, 2020.

I'm linking my card to:

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Hammy would have had to have had a hand, ooops paw, in the creation of this beauty Darnell, if only wiping the card with the anti-static pad for you :)
Beautifully made and perfect embossing :)
Oh Darnell this is lovely, I love the erm, sediment and you’ve dressed it beautifully. These challenges with colour palettes make me quake a bit, and I get fixated, I just love the way you looked at it and broke it into useable words. I must rly that instead of thinking I’ve got to be some palette wielding artista!!! Xx
Absolutely stunning - love the image and the sentiment. What a good way to start the day each day with that sentiment. Cattails are gorgeous. Way to go on the guest spot gig.
I gave up the idea to start on the right foot. It was always the challenge how to avoid serious head and dental damage, because I sleep on the left side of the bed. :-)
Congratulation for the GD on Color Throwdown Challenge. The color combo for the challenge is super nice and your card is fantastic. I like the large sentiment and beautiful, peaceful, motif. Well done, as always. :-)
Have nice day!
Hugs, Sonja
Go you!! Well done on your Guest Spot!! This is a really lovely card Darnell (Bull Rushes we call them over here) and the sediment is fabulous. I wonder if the right foot thing only affects right handed people, our youngest is left handed and always puts his left foot first. I have tried it (stupidly coming down the stairs) and it feels soooo wrong!! xx
Jeanne said...
Congratulations, Darnell! How fun for you. Happy New Year! This card is a beauty and a wonderful reminder! Yup, I could use this daily! ;) I'm getting my annual sickie bug out of the way right out of the gate! Makes for a slow start, but hopefully things will be looking up(and less cough filled) soon! Hugs!
This card is lovely Darnell....super colouring of that fab die and your sentiment is one I have on my kitchen memo board as a magnet. It is such a true one. Hugs xx
Your card is so pretty!
Now I am going to be all self-conscious about which foot I am starting out walking on. I have no idea! Is it a mix of both or do I favor one foot? Lol.
Diane said...
Congrats on being a GD....beautifully created card and I love~love the gold embossing, I need to do that more as every time I see it, I think 'why didn't I do that'!!
This is beautiful. I remember playing with cat tails when I was a kid. I don't remember why we thought they were so adventuresome. Maybe because they could be so many things in our active imagination. Really lovely card. [Bunny]
Now I have the song, "Put One Foot in Front of the Other" from Santa Claus is Coming to town in my head. Winter warlock made it through the door and he did not break any ankle. I love your card and I love that saying. The gold embossing works so nicely with this image. Really nice.
That is beautiful, Darnell! Love the way you coloured the die and set it in the cut out rectangle. Great sentiment - always a good reminder!
I'd say congratulations are in order for you too with your Color Throwdown win...a what a perfect way to meet the Guest Star gig. You certainly outdid yourself with the coloring, it's awesome. This is one of my favorite sayings/prayers, as well. It look amazing in gold, too.
Congratulations on your win and this GD spot over at the Colour Throwdown Challenge Darnell and love these very prettily coloured cattails, and a great sentiment too. x
Leslie Miller said...
It's the best sentiment/prayer/supplication ever and a favorite of mine, as well. I find myself saying this all the time. So, what better to go with it than one of the most beautiful colored die cuts I've ever seen. No kidding. You did such an amazing job on this, Darnell. Congratulations on your guest spot!
Cheryl W. said...
Your card is beautiful, Darnell! I love those cattails. I think I actually have that very same die. I like the reminders in your sentiment, too. As you said, we ought to read it every morning. Have a great rest of the week.
Karenladd said...
Good grief! I spent way too much time trying to figure out how 575 GD signifies starting out the new year on the right foot, until I realized they are totally unrelated to each other. Does this mean that I may have started my new year out with the wrong brain, as opposed to the wrong foot? Ah..never mind
Now that cattails card is certainly the right track AND the right foot to start the new year. I love the way you colored up the die cut so beautifully and inlaid the elements so beautifully. I just might have to get that die when I win the lottery.
Happy 2020 to you Darnell..and best wishes for a healthy one!
Bobby said...
This is such an inspiring card, Darnell. Those beautiful cattails balance out the wonderful sentiment perfectly. About that right foot thing. Marchers always start with the left foot so does that mean band members and the military are always on the wrong foot? ;)
OH Babs said...
Congrats guest designer. A lovely example of your creativeness. Thanks about the left foot - interesting. BBB
Carol H. said...
Your card is beautiful! Love the dimension and colors!!
Vicky Hayes said...
Happy new year Darnell and what a way to start by guesting at The Colour Throwdown - VERY well deserved :) I think you're right to stay in as you just never know when that rogue left foot might kick in. I've cancelled my day too and am staying in the craftroom where it's safe ;)
Your cattail card certainly is inspiring as is the beautiful colour palette, and I've always loved that saying too - very wise!
WOW! What a beautiful card, Darnell. I love how you divided the card into two. Your clubs look stunning against the setting sun. The lack of background colors makes the card have a wonderful CAS character and wonderfully emphasizes the colors used for coloring die. This text beautifully complements the card.
Hugs,
BożenA
