Dabbing With Baby Wipes

Hello Stamplings,

I hope this finds you doing great! Hammy and I are still playing with our friends at the retreat, so needless to say, we're delirious and our fingers and paws are very inky and happy.

Today I have a scheduled post with some cards I made using a baby wipe method. There are many ways to use a baby wipe on your card; they aren't just for cleaning your stamps. If you go to the CAS Mix Up Card Challenge, you will find links for videos on the technique and there are prolly more you can find via the you tube.

Onefer
What happened was, I white heat-embossed my full-size MFT Floral Fantasy Background and proceeded to color it in with my Arteza fine-line colored pens. I wish I had taken a photo of it pre-baby wipe to show you how very vibrant it was. We're talking VIBRANT and for me, it was way too-too, especially with such a busy Zentangle-ish image.

So for the first time ever, I took a baby wipe and dabbed across the panel and by golly, it worked like magic at removing just enough color to make me love it! You can see where I dabbed away with a lighter hand in certain places to leave the card with some dementia.

I popped the colored panel up on a scalloped (PTI) turkoyce fun foam panel and I used a vellum strip for the sticker sediment so as not to block much of the image.

Challenges
Twofers

I used the rest of the dabbed colored image to make two QACAS designs. The sediments are from Simon Says Stamp. I used a PTI impression plate for the kindness card and an embossing folder for the praying for you card.

You know, this baby wipe method is going on my to-do list. Really love the softer colors and that intricate white embossing. You got a lot of mileage out of it, too. Looks fabulous on all the card bases you created.

Beautifully coloured and softened with the baby wipe Darnell, and love all three versions especially each of the turquoise layers which complement all the colours in the Floral Fantasy stamped piece. Glad you are having a wonderful inky time at the retreat. x

You are rocking the technique Darnell. Love that you had a large panel that you could use for several cards, that all look awesome! Have a fun time with your pals.

I’ve only used baby wipes for cleaning stamps and my workspace. But I can see now they have different arèas of use as well. I do like how the colors came out.

Wowza Darnell, these turned out beautifully! Love the colors, marvelous cards!

Oh, my word, these cards are soooooo beautiful, Darnell! I especially love the first because it has a whole lot more of that GORJUSS stamp showing. However, the two with lots of impressed/embossed turquoise showing are splendiferous, as well. I wouldn't have thought of a baby wipe for this, but it did such a nice job of softening up the image. I love the zentangle look of this stamp. You really would need a fine pen. I wonder how fine tip Sharpies would work with a baby wipe, hmmmmm. I have a whole set and hardly use them. I hope you're having fun up there. What am I saying? I KNOW you're having fun!

A beautiful trio of cards! It would definitely have been interesting to see the *before* floral panel, but I will make do with the beauty of the final result. Gorgeous! Thanks for linking up with us at Seize the Birthday!

So glad Hammy was allowed to join in the fun and froliks at camp - I am sure we will see his signature paw prints on a card shortly... (hint hint)
Love this fabulous panel Darnell and how you softened the colours to avoid giddiness and colour blindness (like snow blindness) - that would never do!
Fabulous use of not only the main panel but the wonderful snippets too
Blessings

What pretty cards. I will have to try the baby wipes technique. Thanks for the inspiration.

p.s. don't you love word correct! In your description, you said, "where I dabbed away with a lighter hand in certain places to leave the card with some dementia." Wouldn't it be great if baby wipes did take care of dementia.

I love how easy it is to get shading using the baby wipes to remove color. These are beautiful, especially the last card. I wish you guys would settle down because you're keeping me up at night with the laughter! I love that you are all together having a great time in a beautiful house creating so many great cards. I'm green!

These are so fantastic! And a great save. I bought baby wipes one time and they dried up on me before I got them used up so I quit buying them. And, I never know what brand is the best to buy either. But I might have to see if I can find a small supply.

Oh, I do need to try that technique. Your trio of designs are fabulous. Love the colors!

Hello Darnell! Your cards have taken me to a tropical beach :-) An incredible journey considering what I have outside the window. This is the ugliest and coldest spring for many, many years in Poland. So when I looked at your cards I felt warmer at the heart. Great colors and great, joyful projects. It was so nice to see your summer cards.

That colored panel is gorgeous, Darnell. I do love bright colors but I love the dementia you got with dabbing it down. And how wonderful that there was enough to do two more cards. I love it on the turquoise, whether foam, impressed or embossed. Thanks for sharing your lovely with us at The Flower Challenge.

Totally ZEN, this card may be vibrant but the colours work so well together with just enough coral to break up the busy-ness. Backed with the blue panel, this pastel card definitely works for me. I must say that I equally love the two others too. Happy you're having a great time, a special moment with special people. A beautiful entry, thanks so much for sharing these at CAS Mix Up! xx

I've never tried using baby wipes Darnell but they have certainly worked a treat on your cards. It must have taken you ages to colour that stamp - I'm not sure if I'd have the guts to wipe over it in case it ruined my colouring! They all look fantastic!

The first card is probably one of my favorite "Darnell" cards, I love the colors and stencil and the die cut -- it is delightful.
