Lovely Shenanigans and Glory Hallelujah!

Hello Stamplings!

Greetings on this last week of summer 2018! How's it going?

I'm really sorry I missed your call yesterday. Michael's (I call him Mike) is having his "lowest prices of the season" sale so I ran over there just to take a peek. You know, in case they got in something new since I was there last week. They didn't, but it would have been rude not to buy something(s)!

Why do I always fall for that "lowest prices of the season" line, anyway? We all know the calendar has four seasons in a year and yet businesses have 32 of them!!

Onefer
Hammy and I have sadly not been able to mesh our creative juices with the cue cards of one of our favorite challenges for months. That changed this week, YAY! CASology's cue card for this week's challenge is DRESS and we immediately thought of this sweet dress and hanger from Memory Box.

I cut the dress from a bit of left-over stencil monoprint background from my stash and just love the fun "fabric" it made. I outlined the dress with a black marker for some definition and that's why it looks like it was cut from something thicker than plain white paper.

The panels for the dress were cut in pink and black using a Lawn Fawn zigzag die and they were offset because they created a cool diamond border. The sediment is from Concord & 9th. Since I was making fabric and making a dress, I finished off the card by cutting a border on the right with my rarely used pinking shears.

Twofer
From sweet and ladylike to rakish and rowdy, here's a card for kicks and giggles! (Management's Legal Department has issued the following warning: engagement in activities depicted above by two consulting adult pumpkins may result in a baby pumpkin.) The pumpkins are very old wooden stamps that still know how to amuse a card recipient! The fun sediment is from Riley & Company and the angled frame die is from PTI.

Thank you!

I am thrilled to give you an update on our grandson Adam following his shallow river dive in July. This week the neurologist declared that Adam's C1 neck break had healed sufficiently, so the neck and body braces were removed and there shouldn't be a need for surgery! Adam still has to be very careful, however. He can't ride his bike for a while yet and he isn't sposed to roughhouse with Henry until after Christmas! Obviously the doctor doesn't have teenage sons because, bwahahahaha, that's not gonna happen!

We feel very blessed and are very appreciative. Everyone in the family would like to thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers! Mwah!

From this,

To this!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!

How wonderful for Adam and the whole family. It will be hard to keep him down now that he's out of that cast. Love that cute dress and the pinked edge frames. Back in my sewing days I would have had a fit it anyone even looked at my pinking shears! Yep, I'm all in with the pumpkin card and sentiment. That really cracked me up. Those frames are perfect for this card.

I'm so glad Adam is able to move more freely. Maybe a helmet and brace should be kept handy just for roughhousing with Henry? Just thinking...

Love that sweet little dress with the pretty pink splotches! Very artsy "material" and the pinked edges really bring back memories of my sewing days! The pumpkins are almost as much fun as the sentiment! Love the wonky frames that look like they're laughing! xoxo

Hello Darnell,
your cards are beautiful, I love especially the first card and this dazzling dress. It's like a model from a fashion show - a very professional dress design. A very feminine card. And I am so happy that your grandson is already well. The accident that he went through is a very serious matter. Thank God he left him without much damage. I think that the prayers of many of your friends around the world have made :-)) Glory Allejuja!

I'm over the moon to hear that Adam's out of the braces and on his way to full recovery. Also, he's really getting handsome...like one of those fellas in the movies, isn't he?
As for your "Dress" card, perfection in paper...the addition of the pinked edge is beyond clever.
And those rowdy pumpkins certainly will bring a grin to someone's face. As will the hilarious (and true) sentiment.

As always, I always leave your blog with a smile and a chuckle for the day. I am so glad that you have good news about Adam. That is quite a story. Life brings such challenges and miracles. Your pumpkin card cracked me up. Love my old rubber stamps, and those pumpkins are some that will never go out of style. Great use of those tilted PTI frames - I have to remember that. The sentiment is a riot. I needed a lift today. So glad you played at Time Out and Creative With Stamps! Always a joy to see you.

Good news about y'all's grandson. Good picture of him with his book. Keep the hospital picture taped to his forehead and tell him no rough housing until New Year's eve.

I think we all fall for the Mike's end of season because I went today and saw the same thing I saw last week.

Did you make a card to show for today? Oh yes...........old pumpkins that might make a baby pumpkin. Well, you know the story in the Bible about Sara and Abraham. You never know. [Bunny]

What a lovely (the 2nd!) photo of your grandson - great that he's getting better. Love these two cards - the outlining on the dress is very effective. And I love the sentiment on the second card but it does remind me of my friend Nonni (on the Inkspirational DT). When I went to visit her in Finland I kept my swimsuit on in the sauna - which is not the Finnish way! Have a great day.

So glad to hear that Adam is doing well and thank goodness there should be no surgery! What a relief! I love how incredibly chill he looks in the first picture. What an amazing kid!

Excellent news for you all about Adam, Darnell ... so pleased and thankful that all went well. Goodness, hasn't he grown up ... he's gone all young-man-ish ... still handsome of course! Your little pink and white dress is just gorgeous ... sweet and pretty ... wore one just like this hrmph years ago! Love that C9 sentiment ... may get to play with it one of these days (it has a delicious flower cluster too I think). Those pumpkins are a riot ... the depth and sense of energy you created with your colouring is brilliant ... those wonky frames add to the fun factor too! Great disclaimer for that oh so chucklie sentiment! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! LYASMYMA ... SS! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)

Oh such wonderful news about Adam Auntie! That just makes my day on this dreary rainy day. Now I hope he and his brother behave for a bit longer, after all Christmas isn't that far away! But....I also know boys. When Bret has his bad concussion, the doctor wouldn't let him do gym. He said he was going to do it anyway after another "no" to gym at a check up. I had to get nasty with him about it to keep him from participating in gym. lol It is hard to keep boys down! I haven't been to Mike's in years! So good for you for going to see what the "end of season" sales had to offer. They get everyone with those "end of season" words. lol If one would be close by me, I might have been there too. lol OMGosh, what a beautiful card! Love the color combo! The dress is so pretty cut out of left over monoprint and I love it on those off set mats. I need a pair of pinking shears, lol, because I love the way the end of your card looks! Your twofer just makes me smile and chuckle! The pumpkins make me smile from ear to ear as they are so cute. The sentiment makes me chuckle as it is way to cute. Loving those angular frames too! I might have to check them out! Hugs, Brenda

Oh, hey, I like your diamond border and the dress fabric! The only thing I use my pinking shears for these days is cards and, even still, it's been a while. Thanks for the reminder! Also filing away your idea for outlining the dress. It surely does make it look more dimensional. Love those rakish and rowdy pumpkins! Oh, my gosh, yes, they can still amuse a card recipient. I would keep those stamps, for sure! The sentiment is hilarious! Adam had an incredible recovery from his July injury and it's so good to hear about it. It's hard to keep a kid down, but I hope he'll be at least a little bit careful. Such great news!
