Twofer Card Challenge #3!

Hello, Stamplings!

Happy weekend to you! We are back from our beach getaway where the weather was glorious! You never know when you go in winter, but we had the luck o' the Irish this time.

I've got my March Twofer cards to share with you today!

Our prompt for March is "BLOSSOMS"
Onefer
I used an Iris die from Penny Black as my blossom prompt. This design is a little outside my Minnie Mahlist comfort zone, but I have to say it was fun to make and it will brighten up someone's window sill, especially when the light catches the winking! The stitched frames and the flag banner are all from MFT.

Challenges

Snippets Playground Badge
Twofer
Are you standing on your head or cocking it to one side? Don't hurt yourself! Hammy's the one who spends a large part of every day hanging upside down from his wheel, so he's the one who noticed that the main part of the iris blossom looks just like a moose head when you turn it upside down.

Does this help you see it better?
Aha! Now you see it!

A snowy embossed background, a hand-typed sediment, a stitched oval frame, a bow from Memory Box cut from glossy red paper, a simple black matting, and googly-eyes finish the job and another Christmas card goes in the stash.

(I'm sorry that it ended up looking a bit like a dead moosehead plague hanging over a fireplace.😲But this guy is very much alive, I promise. He had his choice of background for the photo session and he chose the simple white oval framing for a silhouette effect because he thought it looked slimming.)

~~~
Flower blossoms are among everyone's stamps and dies, so I can't wait to see how you light up the gallery and all of Blogland with your beautiful duo of blossom cards!! Head on over to Twofer Card Challenge #3 to see what the talented Team has made to inspire you and thank you very much for your ongoing enthusiasm and support!
Whoosh!
Here's a little collage of our belated wedding anniversary celebration to the seaside.
That's 47 years whooshed by in a flash! It stuns us. Enjoy all the moments of every day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Happy belated anniversary. I love what you've done with the dies - what kind of a mind would turn an iris into a moose?
Amazing blossoms twofer. If you didn't tell us, I have not idea what is the same - nice job. Congratulations on your anniversary :)
Hahahaha ... who but Hammy would see iris as a moose head, Darnell ... goodness, you trained him well! Your garden of blossoms is spectacular ... delicate, beautifully coloured, and so deliciously crisp! Mr Moose was right about the background for his photo-shoot ... he does look particularly lithe and trim ... and those ayes (sic!) most certainly have it! Lovely pics of your trip ... I was especially taken by the ice cream ... yum!! LYAMYMA ... WYAWW! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
Two more beautiful cards they are both just great especially the iris card one of my favourite flowers I think its the colour that attracts me. A lovely memory page of your anniversary I've also been married 47 years (18th July 1970) and you are so right it just seems like yesterday. You should always try to fill each day with the things and people you love. Love and hugs Carole x
Moose or Iris??? Hmmmmmm.......
I love your thought processes!
Two great cards - I am now sitting looking at my dies and trying to decide if they look like anything else.....
Oh wait... that one looks like............ a flower die.
Have a great day Darnell (and am lovin' the anniversary pics!)x
Genius, I say, to see the moose head in that blossom. Fabulous duo of cards for the challenge. Love the collage of your anniversary getaway. Somehow I must have been under a rock because I honestly don't remember you mentioning it before. Congratulations on your 47th anniversary. In this day and age your marriage is worth looking up to as a model that it can be done! Hugs to you and the Mister!
I love how Hammy's mind works! This is just a fantastic take on Twofer. I love the iris card. For some reason I never see them anymore and we always had them in our yard as a child. The moose mounted, I mean matted in the oval is the cutest. Forty seven years goes by in the blink of an eye. You had a lovely view from your room and it's great that you had warm weather.
Diane said...
Your trip looks amazing, I am sooooo jealous as it looks so pretty there! Your two cards are fabulous...a moose head...hahaha...love that, never would of come up with that in a million years!! You and Hammy sure work well together...fun!!!
Pat said...
Two fabulous cards Darnell, and I love the way you have coloured your irises and the layered frames look so pretty, and well, a moose head from an iris, who would have thought of that! This is thinking outside the box in the extreme, but I am up for a challenge so I will be thinking long and hard. I love the googly eyes, and mounting it on to the double stitched oval, with the pretty bow below, and the falling snow looks great for the background. So pleased you had a great getaway for your anniversary, and thanks for the super photos. Hubby and I have our 36th this July so we have a ways to go to 47, so many congratulations, you make a wonderful couple, and as you have managed this many years it is obviously set on firm foundations, no cowboy building here...lol. x
Susanne Vargas said...
Leave it up to Hammie...! I don't think I would have seen a moose in the iris but now, of course, it's really obvious! So much fun with the goggly eyes! And the iris card is spectacular! It doesn't look too busy as all the other elements are in white. It makes the flowers pop! Can't wait until they bloom here!
So glad to hear that your getaway was wonderful! You sure picked a gorgeous spot!
You know I love your twofer. Hammy and I think alike, ya know?!? Happy anniversary to you two lovebirds. Glad your weather cooperated.
Love your cards Darnell! I'll be the first to admit, I didn't see that moose in the flower but yep, he's there in all his glory. Cute idea and great cards.
Firstly, Happy Anniversary, such great photos to memory!! Congrats to you both! And then... Oh my, the irish blossoms are so sweet and lovely, but Hammy is just a genius!!! Such stunning idea thinking that the iris blossom looks like a moose head!!! Really Hammy is a great helper to think out of the box!! :D Amazing cards!
What a brilliant take on the die cut, well done hmmy. Going around in his wheel has certainly shaken up his insight!
Belated happy anniversary. We are off to my SiL and BiL's golden tomorrow, we are plodding along in the rear at 40 and a bit! :)
Oh my gosh - I saw your second card and thought to myself, "Did I misunderstand the challenge???" Too funny - and extrememly creative! Love them both. And thanks for sharing your pictures. Happy Belated Anniversary wishes to you both. We have our 44th anniversary coming up this year.
Cat Craig said...
ya brilliance for sure on this one. Who knew an iris could look so much like a moose head? Fabulous twofer Darnell. I am in awe! Love both cards.
Verna Angerhofer said...
Wonderful cards using the Iris. Beautiful as a flower and so handsome as that moose you made with it. You certainly are an inspiration!
Happy Dance said...
Now these two cards are exactly what I call thinking outside the box. First, those irises are gorgeous. I love Siberian irises and have some of these in my garden. Yours are seriously gorgeous. And you've framed them beautifully. Gorgeous card. And the moose head...Oh. My. Gosh! That is such a perfect example of getting extra mileage out of stamps and dies or I'm at my wedding weight. (Well, my right leg is anyway, hahaha). And speaking of weddings, I will morph that into anniversary and offer my heartiest congratulations. Great photos, and what a relaxing view... I could get used to that! Miss you. xoxo Bev
Great pictures of your time away, Darnell! Love that you caught the paraglider or whatever they call that! Never expect good weather at the beach--so it's always a treat when you get it! You totally amazed me with the moose--beyond creative! LOVE the iris card with great use of the frames!
Good grief...how does one top this. An iris turned into a moose head...I bow to the master and her rodent. As one without any imagination to speak of, both these cards charm the pants off of me. One with stunning elegance, one with fun and humor...brilliant.
So happy that your getaway anniversary was blessed with good weather. It's been a bit iffy around here. Happy belated Anniversary to you both.
I'm off to the Twofer.
Your Hammy's upside down perspective landed you on a genius use of your iris die! And quite the dapper lad he is, all lean and trim - and who could resist those peepers! I'm sure one look is all it would take for the lady mooses to come a-running to check him out! Your 'real' irises are stunning! I love irises...sighhhh! Belated Happy Anniversary, you two lovebirds! The photos are lovely...
Happy belated! An iris as a moose may be the ultimate in repurposing a stamp/die. ;) Must stop procraftinating and play this time!
Sharron said...
Well, aren't you clever--or maybe Hammy! Mr. Moose is quite a looker--love those big eyes. And your iris are so lovely. Two really wonderful designs! Sadly I missed last month's challenge as we were on vacation. Valentine's Day was our 35th and Harry felt we needed to do something extra special. Of course, he loves to travel so is always looking for an excuse! I'll see what I can come up with for Challenge #3, though I could never match your wonderful moose!
Your irises are so bright and cheeryful, Dolly! And your topsy, turvy moose head is brilliant! It's good to step back and look at things from a different angle sometimes. That goes for stamps and life! Looks like a wonderful anniversary getaway! Congratulations on 47 years!
Leslie Miller said...
Oh, no, you did NOT make a moose head from that iris blossom! If I hadn't seen the actual iris, I would never have known. Those googly eyes seal the deal! And, wow, the iris blossoms are gorgeous! Your coloring of them stuns me. So realistic! I'm glad the weather was kind to you for your anniversary get away. I swear that looks like a motel in Smith River where my hubby and I stayed once. They didn't have all those chairs on the beach at the time, but the veranda looks just the same!
Your Iris card is just lovely Darnell, and your moose card...well only you and Hammy would see a moose out of an Iris...too, too funny and I just LOVE it!! Where would this world be without you Darnell...you truly are one of a kind and a complete gem!! Now that I'm home from my big crafting trip I need to start looking at all my flower images and seeing if I see any animals in them...just kidding!! I definitely have enough flower stamps though, so will definitely come up with something for this challenge! Hugs. :0)
Your Christmas card is so amoosing! Now you could read that as either amusing or amazing and you would be right both ways. Very clever! Your irises in their right-side-up position are jaw-dropping! I love how they intertwine with the frames. I'm so glad you had great weather for your anniversary trip, and even more so that you have a reason to celebrate!
Lovely to see you in the Playground and I'll try to come and play in Twofers but things are quite busy right now here. Getting ready for the next part of 'The House Project' - at the end of which I suspect we'll both just lie down and sleep for months! Ha, or move whilst it all looks fine and dandy still :)
(here I am struggling to think of how to re-use a stamp or die to make 2 cards and you just breeze through!) Enjoyed the beach photos, and Happy Annie-vers'aree! That time does speed by so fast. Glad you 2 hung in for the long haul...not many do these days. Hope all is going well - big hugs. TFS
