NBUS Challenge #6 ~ Day Six and a new prize!

[The NBUS Challenge #6 InLinkz button is at the end of this post.]

Happy Mothering Sunday to all my British friends!!

Hi there! Happy Sunday Funday!

I'm going to be showcasing patterned paper on the post toasty today! Yay for patterned pattern that we all hoard cherish! Some of you call it DSP for Designer Series Paper. I just call it pp cuz I'm a 12-year-old boy in my heart.

Let's start with this floral pp designed and printed by the famous paperist, K&COMPANY:
The NBUS being featured on these first two cards is the "You've Been Framed Oval Die" by Papertrey Ink. The sediment is from Hero Arts.
For this card, I trimmed the pp to allow the card base to show. It adds another frame and more interest to the design. The NBUS sediment is from the "Word Salad" set by Paper Smooches.

And this card:
PP is perfect to use with this sweet NBUS sediment die called Greetings Bottom Edgers from Impression Obsession. A bit of matching card stock and pretty ribbon and pips your squeak! (And high five for using those, too, NBUS or not!)

I have several more examples I've made and have never blogged before. I've made a collage so this post doesn't go on in my usual epic fashion down past your keyboard, over your lap, and onto the floor. This cards show how simple it is to make a QACAS card in a jiffy just by using a piece of pp. If you can't afford a jiffy, you can just use a regular desk.
Two of those pieces of patterned paper have lots of glossy embossing built right in for extra pizzazziness!
There you go. Lots of great ideas for using pp to make elegant last-minute cards or cards for your stash. Also for entering into NBUS Challenge #6! Tick tock!

There are lots of entries as we edge closer to 200! I'm very pleased and grateful to those of you who have played, so I'm adding another thank you prize:
Yes, that's right! A complete and NBUS set of Brushos! This prize is open to all participlayers anywhere in the world! If you have already entered and are interested in this prize, please let me know in an email to darnell dot knauss at g mail dot com. For new entries, you can let me know either in a comment or via email.

If you are not interested in this prize, you don't have to mention it and you will simply be in the drawing for the cash prizes.

Did I just make more work for myself and confuse everyone? I hope not. I trust everyone will proceed in an orderly fashion.

~~~
Get going! Enjoy your day! Enjoy the challenge! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Wow! So many gorgeous makes from you today Darnell. The idea of the collage photo is brilliant (need to try that myself sometimes! ) Fabulous hero arts sediment but that thank you card is Dee-lish! You are so generous with the prizes too. (That'll be a yes to the brushos from me then) ;-) Thanks for all your inspiration. xx
Sorry Darnell I have just re-read your explanation and realise that I don't need to e-mail as I haven't entered yet and just saying a 'yes please' to everything here will be sufficient. x
Well, now you've done it: sparked a sudden desire to go scrounging through my patterned papers that I've put away, for the sake of tidiness (our kitchen is looking more like a crafting zone than a kitchen!), to find some pretties to showcase. Your array here: gorgeous! My eye is drawn, especially, to the wee framed dragonfly in the first...Your Brushos prize: I am most definitely interested, my friend, especially given how water-colour challenged I am. Maybe these will help remedy my 'want to but can't because I'm a klutz' situation! Again, your generosity is fantabulous!
Hugs~c
Sarah said...
These are wonderful Darnell and being a boarder of pp (!!) am always looking for interesting ways to use it up!! Love the look of the bottom edger die xx
Julia Aston said...
what lovely cards using the DP - there ARE so many beautiful, shiny and textured papers out there - it doesn't take much to make them into a pretty card! I'm feeling crushed today - I just read in your ABOUT ME on the right sidebar that Hammy is only imaginary (WHAT??!!) - and here I have been thinking of him happily spinning on his wheel beside you while you craft..... whispering ideas to you for design (!) Julia xx
Megan said...
I *may* have just a small amount of pp in my stash. So thanks for the push to go use it!
Carol L said...
You always make me chuckle with your words, and today is no exception. So you like to call it pp because you're a 12 yr old boy? OMG, you should have been a stand-up comedian! LOL I just love the different ways you've shown us to use that pp/dsp with your cards! And thanks for the new prize you've added too! Your generosity is beyond amazing!
Anita in France said...
You must have such a wonderful collection of cherished DP, Darnell ... these are all spectacular ... the three from today and those delicious collaged ones ... been enjoying time with every single one! Brusho's ... as I'm not using my existing stash nearly enough at the moment, please leave me out of your generous draw ... hope they go to a home where they'll be joyfully and regularly used! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ionabunny said...
Great to see your pp ideas. I have a small stack of that. Regarding the brusho's.... I think you should have just drawn them and if the person was not interested you could have drawn again. Or, emails from those who are not interested, cos I am sure there are less of those than there are ones who are currently drooling, but not in the brusho's, cos that would get colourful. I expect you email has just grown by a 100 or 200 emails. Good luck with that. Thank you for your lovely comment on my librarian. Unfortunately I have no spectacles in her size, but I suspect you are right and she would suit them very well. Hugz
(On a side note, I have stumbled on some NBUT (Never Before Used Techniques) and NBUC (it's stretch, but Never Before Used Challenge) as I've perused all the entries. Lots of fun and inspiration!)
Well, seems you've been hoarding...er, collecting lots of pp. How you's put it to use is really something. The way you envisioned how they'd look with those dies is awesome. Maybe I need to check out my hoa...er, collection, too.
What a wonderful use of the gorgeous patterned papers, which I buy, and never really know how to use. They are so beautiful, I hate to cut up the design, so - yep, a NBUS. You've done some clever & lovely treatments on each of these beauties to show off the printed design. Love the different dies you've used - which work perfect with the papers too. What a super-duper prize you're offering with the Brusho set. Will do my best to enter, and gosh, I have lots & lots of NBUS! Big hugs & hope your day is going just splendidly. MWAH! TFS
I'm behind. Waaaaaay behind. John had a bad few days, and I've been hovering like a helicopter. Better so far today. Anyhoo.... I love the pretty dp on your first card. That little lady bug (almost wrote 'but') is so sweet. The flora is pretty, and I'm loving that die. It's your second card that has me all in a swoon, however.... I. Love. This. Card. Forever & ever. Amen. I can see I've got more shopping to do, lol! And what a gorgeous collage you've made too. Dang girl... I don't know how you do it! I'm delighted with all you got here. Will try to get a card into the NBUS challenge, if time and DH permit. You know how it goes. MISS you so darn much!! Bev
Wow! 200 hundred entries. That is wonderful! And, I love all the beautiful cards you made with pattern papers.
Wow, these quick and easy pp cards (and yes, I prefer to call them pp as well), are going to make me look at my hoarded papers in a new way. I must have at least one die that would make a great card design, right? I have so many large or bold print designs that i can't bear to cover up...and what a wonderful way to showcase them. As for those Brushos...I would love to be considered for this, or any prize from you!!
I missed that PTI die & oh my goodness--I love it! All your cards are so inspiring, Darnell--thank you! Gotta finish my 3rd entry & I'd love to have the Brushos to play with! Take care of yourself, my friend!
You did a great job using the DP like on these cards!
(have to try it myself in order to get my craftroom emptier, or maybe I stick to use it behind my photos in the PL-books? Have to get rid of half of that stash this year;that is my goal...)
Enjoy a good monday!
I may just have to get out some of my pp, including a K and Company one similar to yours, and make some cards. Your new dies are fabulous with the pp.
Put me in the draw for the Brushos, please. I've seen so many wonderful things done with them and I'd love to give it a go.
Kay Wallace said...
I call it "pp," too, Darnell! And, yes, I have lots of it--some of which I have had for years. Like you, from time to time, I am moved to actually use some of it. Love how you have used it here with your die frame. Love that idea!!
Wow, I am so loving how you showcased these beautiful papers Auntie! I never thought to do it this way before, but I am so loving them. Love that die too!! Who can't resist K&Co paper?! But sometimes I hate to use it because it is so beautiful. But the way you have used these beautiful papers makes total sense! And I love that they are quick, easy cards that even I could pull off. lol Hugs, Brenda
Brushos... are you kidding?!! That's fabulous!! Since I'm getting around to commenting late, I e-mailed you in case there's still a chance. Meanwhile, I'm still rolling on the floor laughing about your post coming off the screen over the keyboard and onto the floor... you're too funny! What a terrific batch of cards! I have several I haven't posted and I keep losing the little notes I made with the materials used, so they are just sitting all lonely and underappreciated until they go out the door. lol! Your sunflower card especially draws my eye!!
