Criss-Cross Duet and Lunch With Loll!

Hi, there! I'm back!

I hope you've been doing well and keeping crafty! The Mister and I had a lovely holiday away and I stayed well enough for us to enjoy everything we had planned and more. What a blessing! I'll share more on that below and in future posts.

The nice thing about Mt. Laundry is that it allowed me plenty of time to jump right back into my drug of choice making cards in between loadings and foldings. If you are on a design team, you may have felt the wind suddenly whooshing through your skirts yesterday ... that was me and Hammy clicking through each challenge blog for sparks to light the fire of creativity again.

And, thus, this happened:

I made a simple one-layer card with a NBUS stamp from Your Next Stamp called "Criss-Cross Border Stamp," which I colored with SU markers in melon mambo, certainly celery, Bermuda bay, and daffodil delight. The sediment is from SU. Then I embossed the front half of the card with a NBUS chevron e/f from Cuttlebug called "Charles," added matching twine, and winked the colors to a sparkly frenzy:

Today's Twofer

You may see only Christmas cards for my twofers (and maybe even some onefers) from now on as I'm woefully behind and time is flying woefully fast towards Christmas. I wanted to make a card using the same graphic criss-cross stamp which I used on my first card and this time also use the matching die.

After stamping and die-cutting, I simply colored and winked some of the design elements of the stamp and popped it up on my card front. The heart is a stitched die from PTI. The holly is cut from a thick handmade paper snippet using a PTI die. The sediment is a NBUS stamp from Stamping All Day.

Look It's Loll!

I made my first card above with one special friend in mind: Loll Thompson of Stamping With Loll! She has long been my "bloggie friend" and now she is also my "real life friend" because I had the absolute pleasure of meeting her for reals while we were on our holiday in British Columbia!
How lucky am I to have met another one of my card heroes! We have been planning our meeting for a few months and I'm so happy I was able to make the trip and have it happen!

We are "Lolly and Dolly" to each other and we've been supportive co-enablers since I came on the scene. Lolly has been a constant source of inspiration and knowledge, for which I am very grateful! Her awe-mazing talent has grown with each year and I find every card she makes to be truly a frameable work of art!

Thank you, Lolly, for welcoming us into your lovely home and hosting a delicious lunch for us and our Misters ~ and for supplying me with loads of misters of the other kind, too! It was real thrill for me to meet you and see where you make the magic happen! MWAH!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!

Lovely that you had a chance to meet up in real life! What brilliant cards, I love the stamp and it looks completely different coloured in different ways. But I really must NOT read your posts while eating my breakfast..... I read that the embossing folder was called "Charles" and now I'm going to have to wipe half-chewed bran flakes off my computer screen. One of my oldest friends is called Charles, and that embossing folder is SOOOOOO not him. Do you think they are names by the same people who make up the names for Ikea?

Two fab cards, your break has certainly got your mojo working overtime. I love the EF, not one I've come across. Must admit to being bit of a EFaholic, my box is full and new ones find it a bit of a squish. New box or no more folders, what do you think? :) x
