Sparklies

Well, hi, there you are!

I have been having the dreaded intermittent computer cable interruptus this week and I've missed you! Worse, I wasn't able to catch up with most of you as I had planned because the crazy arrow just stuck there trying to find you, going round and round and round. I actually did most of this post a day ago, but I'm only now able to publish (I hope).

This has happened to all of us, I imagine, and it's sobering to realize how attached we are to the umbilical computer cord, wireless or not. The worst situation I know of is a friend in the UK who has been without reliable connectivity for SEVEN WEEKS. I shudder to think!

Okay, let's do this before I lose you. Sparkle is the theme of my cards today. First up is a Christmas card.
I actually made this fun card at the FISA with the BABES last October, but it's never been posted. I used SU silver sparkle paper for the base and the tinsel was cut from the same paper using my die from Memory Box called "Tinsel Ropes."
I'm sorry I don't remember who belonged to the stamp or e/p, or from whence they came. What I do remember now is that I meant to buy that sediment and never did. It goes so perfectly with my die.

Challenges
~~~
Now let's come back to the future and look towards this month's holiday of Father's Day.
All daddy folk like to go zoom zoom in cars (at least in their heads) so this QACAS card speaks to that. The steeply sloped hill was made with a Spellbinders die, "Curved Borders One." The sediment is from Imaginations, surgically cut and rearranged to better fit the design.
The fancy red shiny sports car is a Stickopotamus sticker. This closeup shows a tiny bit of the brilliant glittery shine.
Sorry to hear about the interruptus, glad you seem to be working again now though! I love that sparkly card and you are so right about the sentiment, it is perfect. It seems we have Father's Day in the same month on both sides of the ocean - the sparkly car is brilliant - and one I would not mind owning, if only we had the weather to be able to drive around topless (the car, not me - lol). Big hugs, Annie xx
Fab cards.
Enjoy your day. Sue
Such fabulous cards as always Darnell!
We just went away for a week, and there was no internet, wireless or otherwise where we were. And you know what? It was *bliss*. We actually saw the teens for more than 5 minutes each day, and they even *shock!* *horror!* ventured outside!
I've decided that when I'm rich and shameless, I shall buy myself a little cottage in a place that's never even heard of internet, and I shall be a very happy person (providing there's a craft room, naturally!) x
Fab cards Darnell, know how frustrating t'internet can be. We forget that in the past we had to wait for the whirling and beeping to finish before we could see a page! The broadband around her is bad, especially around 4- 5:30 pm, it's just not worth the hassle to even try! The downside of living in the English countryside!
Enjoy your day! x
Fantastic cards! Sorry haven't been around either the past month - will get cracking again :) especially if this wind doesn't die down soon - horrible to go outside!
Darnell these are fabulous - love your sediments on both cards - especially the surgially altered one - I do that too ;-) it's fun.
I think I may have some withdrawal issues with the internet in some form or another!!
Blessings
FAB twinklies from you today - sorry to hear about the computer cable gremlins getting in the way - hope you've not been feeding them after midnight again!
Your unknown sentiment sounds like the sort of thing Margaret at Sparkle 'n Sprinkle might produce .... possibly?
Happy Thursday ..... hope your seven week pal soon gets sorted too
Hello Darnell: I want to first thank you for your sweet comment on my Merry Monday card, each word really makes me so very grateful.
I love your cards, the tinsel one is just so pretty and that sentiment is unique and fabulous. The card with that flashy, red sports card is just so perfect for Father's Day, what guy doesn't want a sporty car like that one, heck!! I want a car like that, LOL!!
I feel your pain with your Internet troubles, I'm from the Baby Boom generation and all of this techy stuff scares me, I don't want to know how it works, all I want is for IT to work, like when I turn my car on, all I want to do is turn the key and go, never mind how or what makes it move, all I know is that it needs gas.
I just ADORE your stamping place, it's just the most charming, the most delightful, the most gorgeous stamping place I've ever seen, what a wonderful tour of the inside, thank you so much for sharing. My stamping place is one of the bedrooms in my house, inside I have some of the things that make me happy, I hope you had a chance to see it, I posted the pictures on May 20th.
Ok, this comment is turning into a letter, LOL!! Thank you again so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet comments, I hope you come back. I'm looking forward to the next Merry Monday Challenge.
Many paper hugs.
Maria.
Great cards, Darnell. I love all the sparkle. That sentiment is awesome - my tinsel always seems to get in a tangle ;)
Sorry about the computer problems Darnell and hope there will be nor more interuptus.
Great cards as usual my friend. Love the sparkle against the black card and the second one's whimsical look leaves me with a smile on my face. It reminds me of having the kids in the car and them all screaming 'wheeeeeeee' when we went down big hills!
Two great cards Darnell and the glittery tinsel ropes look wonderful against the black and the sentiment is just perfect. The lovely flashy bright red car careering down that steep slope is a fantastic Dad's Day card too. I'm sorry you have been having buffering problems as I know how you feel after our problems last week! x
I recognize that card! It looks beautifully twinkly! Hope your internet troubles are over, my friend!
The internet is fabulous, until you can't get online. I feel your pain and am relieved for you that the problem is behind you (hopefully for good). Your cards are terrific. Adore the sparkle in the powder you used and the sticker you applied. I like your eye for card design. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Sorry to hear about your lack of connectivity...so, frustrating. Every time it happens to me I want to go to Google to learn new WORDS, but I can't...furthering my frustration. Anyhoo, think I'm in love with your Christmas card sentiment (I often say, "Don't get your knickers in a twist" or "panties in a bunch". I like yours better). And how perfect is that great car sticker on your Dad's Day card and how clever of you to put it on a steep hill. Well, I guess that's why you're you. Have a good Thursday. Bye.
For some more weird computer stuff, this post just hit my inbox a couple of minutes ago...guess we both have the umbilical cord issue, lol.
Both cards are SO precious! I especially like the saying for the "holiday" season. I know a few people who would love to get that one! Have a great day. Hugs!
Oh, someday we need to meet up and you can teach me the card-maker acronym language, haha!
That sentiment is so beautifully sparkly and it's perfect with your die cut.
And your fathers day card is so fun and colorful, definitely a design fit for a man!
Carol L said...
I really like the dad's day card with that shiny car sticker! Love it going downhill too :)
No internet problems here, other than delayed phone connections for several days. Isn't it amazing how we've all come to live our lives through electronic devices now? There's no turning back now, but I wish things would slow down anyway :)
Sharon Underwood said...
I like both your cards! It's amazing what you've created with one sticker! Way to go! I've also got issues -- my printer quit printing black ink yesterday...had to go shopping for a new one today. Ugh.
FAB cards, Darnell!
And I think we've all ended up at one time or another having computer issues!...Certainly, I have! lol Though, I'll admit. It is sometimes nice to just disconnect from everything. ;)
Enjoy the rest of your week...it's almost Friday! Yay! :)
What? You're having internet interruptus, too? I am ready to stomp my feet in a full-blown tantrum with ours. A truck drives by; internet tanks. The neighbours run their dishwasher; internet tanks. A bird flies by; internet tanks. Pooh! Anyway, your sparkly cards are smile-makers, especially the snazzy red car! If you had a snazzy red bike, that would send Andy over the moon *grin*
Let me start with the fancy-schmancy red sports car....That's one uber cool card, and I'm pretty sure it just might be for the Mister. Love it. So will the recipient! And as soon as I saw the twinkler card, I knew I had seen it before. I clicked on your link, and it took me back to the BABES post. *sigh* That was some fun, wasn't it?!!!! And so is this card. Loved it then, love it now. Sparkles are perfect. Miss you. Bev
Bonnie said...
Love all that sparkle and the way the black card shows it off! You definitely need to get that sentiment! And I'm sitting here wondering if DH could tool down the road any faster in a shiny red sports card? Hmmm....! A great Father's Day card!
Vicki Dutcher said...
Love that sentiment - right up there with don't get your panties twisted ;) -- love the "red metallic" car too - a man's dream
Oh Gosh Auntie, I am loving that sentiment about the tinsel, I had to laugh out loud at that-love it! I also love all the shiny tinsel on this card, it's so pretty! That father's day card is a delight too. I love that steep hill and shiny sparkly sports car as I know a lot men will too! lol Fun cards!! It is awful when we lose internet, what is awful is how we respond to losing internet. lol When did we get addicted to it?! I know I have and it happened when hubby got rid of dial up. lol I hated dial up and didn't have time to waste on it, but now that the internet is at my finger tips in a matter of second, well know that's a whole other story! lol Hugs, Brenda
A whole lot of sparkle & shine in this post! Ah...Lakehouse memories tugging at my heart!
Your need-for-speed card is totally all about testosterone! Likely a red wagon (or anything with wheels) until the driver's licence arrived...then it was cars! Great bit of sentiment surgery!
Internet issues...grrrrr....ours has been stupid lately too! Makes me wonder what part of 'high speed, reliable service" we are paying for!
