May 2015 PTI Blog Hop Challenge

Hello, Stampers,

Happy Monday! Happy Memorial Day! Blessings and gratitude to all those who serve and have served our great country in the military!

It is time for the monthly Papertrey Ink Blog Hop Challenge at Nichole Heady's blog {capture the moment}.

I made this:
This was our inspiration photo:
Blog Hop Inspiration
~~~
The card base is PTI hibiscus burst with a mat of select white. The rainbow blocks on my card were made by inking and spritzing PTI inks using a Hero Arts stamp "Row of Squares." The inks used were pure poppy, hibiscus burst, summer sunrise, new leaf, and Hawaiian shores. Each color was then liberally winked with Stella. Sadly, my card did not photograph well (it was even worse inside). It's very sheeny-shiney and pretty IRL.
The blog hop is open all day long if you would like to be quick like a bunny and link a card!
~~~

Magnet PSA

I used my MISTI to place the sediments (from PTI "Birthday Bash" set, some NBUS) in between the layered rainbow boxes. The MISTI is a remarkable tool for placement of images on your card, expecially if you're doing many cards of the same design, but you do need to be very careful when you use the magnets.

Not only are the magnets strong enough to injure your fingers if you aren't careful, I learned they can pose a danger for people, such as myself, who have pacemakers or defibrillators. When I queried Ilana, she said she honestly didn't know if there would be a problem using the magnets. On my request, she gave me the name of the company that manufacturers the magnets she sells and this is the response I received:
Hi Darnell,...I would say do not use one piece of  # ND007000N within 12" of the pacemaker just to be safe. Best Regards, John Nellessen (www.ALLMagnetics.com).[Emphasis his.]
Needless to say, I'm not using the magnets because it's impossible for me not to lean in very close when I'm setting up and stamping my card. I'm pleased to say that I am still able to use the MISTI with a sticky-note to keep my card in place instead of the magnets.

PLEASE share this important information with any stamping friends who have a pacemaker or ICD. Thank you! Mwah!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

Great card Darnell, I love how you slanted the boxes and the sentiment is perfect.

Oh, your card is so fun! I love how you broke up the sentiments around the blocks!

Good to know about the MISTI...and really great you even thought of it. We'll be careful. I think the card is terrific and really fun. Rainbow colors always make me happy (Do I hear a John Denver song in the background). It certainly meets the inspiration criteria. Also, really enjoyed your comment on my RIC blogpost...you're quite the lady, you know.

love that graphic look

I love your take on the inspiration photo Darnell and it certainly is a very happy card. Glad you are enjoying your Misti - I think it is the best thing since sliced bread but I'm glad to see your warning about the magnets. My peski ones keep wandering away and getting stuck to scissors, dies or anything metal within a 25 yard vicinity lol!

Completely Darnell fun going on here! It's going in my files. Love the joy just looking at the layout! And of course reading all the quips. Didn't know you wore a pacemaker. Bet it's a hoot going through detectors at an airport! Seriously, you amaze every time I visit! Hugs!

Such a great take on the inspiration photo, Darnell! And I love that the sentiment(s) are sprinkled throughout the card! Good research on the magnets- and good to share with others.

Great card! Super take on the inspiration photo! (And yeah, those magnets once squished my finger to the point of bleeding!)

Great card plus your info about the Misti and pacemakers could be a lifesaver.

Thanks for the response about the sushi captcha. Yes, I can usually ignore the captcha and submit anyway, but occasionally it has a stroppy day and insists on being filled in, and that was one of it's sulky teenager days!

You know how sometimes you see a card and you instantly know who made it? That totally happened with this one - so bright and cheery and Darnelly. That new signature is too fun - Hammy! Immortalized!

I love your card today!

I've had a pacemaker for 20 yrs now, and am always just careful to keep magnets away from it. I do use magnets with my MISTI, but I don't let the left side of my chest with it's pacemaker close to them. :)

Glad you've figured out a way to use your MISTI without the magnet! Isn't it a great tool? I"m loving mine even more than I thought I would.

What a fun card Auntie! I love all the beautiful colors and all that sparkle and shine, so much so I had to grab my sunglasses just to view this card! lol I am so glad that you asked about the magnets, because I never even thought about pacemakers and such! I guess if you don't have one you don't think about it. It is good to know and get the info out there. I didn't get the magnets for my MISTI right away and I still used my MISTI just fine too. One doesn't really have to have those magnets. I am loving your new signature and watermark!!! You and Hammy should be very excited, it looks fabulous! Oh and I love the joke too. lol Hugs, Brenda

What a fun design and great take on the challenge photo! Your new signature looks wonderful too! Thanks for your comments about the MISTI magnets. I've had a pacemaker for the past year and a half and wondered about that. I don't have one yet but thought it might be best to not use the magnets. I am doing some volunteer work and they gave me a name tag with a magnet backing. I did call my cardiologist and they said it was okay to use it as long as it was on the opposite side. Of course, I identified with your cartoon--so funny!

Cat Craig said...

You nailed it Darnell.

What a cool inspiration image. I love all the colors you used for the blocks and how you interspersed a variety of happy birthday sentiments.
