Welcome to Monday!

We love Monday! She arrives fresh from the bath, innocent and unmarred by what the week will hold. She greets it with optimism and interest!

Anniversary

So the Mister says to me, "Do your Card Ladies (that's what he calls you) know that I make cards, too?" Well, if that's not permission to show you the sweet anniversary card I got from him, I don't know what is!!
Isn't that adorable? He's found a signature design that he uses year after year as the numbers roll on. I treasure them all and know that I'm a lucky girl! Does your husband shop at the xerox paper card shop, too?!

BTW, the nicknames? Yes, he does call me Toots or Tootsarino, but I don't really call him K2. He just always signs his name that way because his first and last initials both start with K and he's a science guy, so he writes K Squared. I don't call him Mister either, I call him Hon.
It reminds me of when the twins were just learning to be conversant. We were babysitting and we were all four in the family room. The boys were playing on the floor, and we were reading. I looked up and saw that the Mister was gone. I caught Adam's eye and asked, "Where did he go?" Adam got up and toddled over to the hallway and yelled, "HON?" as loud as he could. It was so darn funny!
Thank you all very much for your sincere anniversary wishes to us! I'm sorry that because of the NBUS commenting, I didn't get a chance to visit and thank you all individually for your wonderful messages, but they mean the world to us.

THIRD BLOG BIRTHAVERSARY!

I completely forgot to tell you on Friday that I've decided to also make January 16th the anniversary of my blog. It's my blog, so I can do that, right?

Some bloggers call it the birthday of their blog; some call it the anniversary of their blog. Hence and fourtooth, mine  is a birthaversary! Feel free to use my new word if you like it!

So what happened was, I started my blog in October of 2011. Nothing happened. Ditto for November. Ditto for December. It wasn't until the middle of January 2012, after I started entering challenges and making an effort to communicate and make friends with other bloggers, that people started visiting.

The light dawned, so to speak. So now I'm just going to combine the two. From now on, January 16th will be celebrated as both our wedding anniversary and my blog birthaversary. Honestly, it's just because I need a way to make it easier to remember! As I have aged, my head has gotten pretty full of dates. Although sometimes I eat raisins just to be different.

NBUS Challenges

I want to again thank Melissa for the privilege of being Guest Designer for CASology Week 129 and for the compliment of having NBUS as the cue card word of the week! It was wonderful having CAS card artists linking to both our challenges with one card!

YouCanMakeThis.Com
I haven't quite made it around to visit everyone in the CASology gallery, so if you only linked to CASology, make sure you also link to the NBUS Challenge #3 before it closes at noon PST on Thursday, January 22, 2015. There are prizes to be won!

For those of you who are new to this blog and the NBUS Challenge, there were two reasons why I started my NBUS challenge. One reason, of course, was to encourage you to use those virginal products.

The second reason was that it provided me with a way to say thank you to all the followers of my blog by giving them a chance to win a $25 gift card. It's my uniQ and interactive way to give you blog candy.

The prize winners will be announced at noon PST on Sunday, January 25, 2015.

I know there are a lot of you who are playing just for fun and who tell me you would play even if there weren't prizes and I really I appreciate that. It tells me that my little NBUS movement is here to stay! Give yourselves a pat on the back!!

Even though the challenge isn't over, I want you to know that I'm feeling very humbled by the enthusiasm and love and support you are all giving to my third NBUS Challenge! I truly am overwhelmed!

When the entries reached 400 over the weekend, I scooted back from my desk, tucked Hammy in my pocket so he wouldn't fly off my shoulder, and twirled around in my chair like a 10-year-old! I gotta say, that was hella fun! Seriously, I'm very, very thankful!!

CARD/CHALLENGE BREAK  ~ New Friends Corner

Now, as the entries are reaching 500 (Wait. WHAT??!) and there are still over two days left, I'm going to be taking a bit of a break from card-making and challenges this week so I can concentrate on visiting the entries and leaving thankful comments.

I do, however, want to continue to introduce you to the new friends who have arrived at the Playhouse, so when I can, I will be posting introductions for you in my New Friends Corner and I hope that you will visit them and introduce yourselves!

And just for eye candy, coz we gotta have a little eye candy, and because this is a card blog, I may include a vintage card of mine.

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
I like the word birthaversary. It definitely sounds like a party worth attending. I love that your hubby makes cards! Mine has made two. One time a friend from the midwest sent him the Monster cereals (Boo Berry, Count Chocula, and whatever the other one is). We don't get them here. He sent her a thank you card--cut and tuck back in the day when you had to cut with an exacto. He also made a card for our Christmas gathering. One of the ladies got snotty about his planning to come ("my hubby wouldn't come" "yeah, but he doesn't want to, mine does") and insisted that all participants make a card to share. Anywho... happy anniversary to you and Hon and happy birthaversary to you and your blog.
Oh, Toots (LOVE that!) - what a wonderful, heartfelt card! And a great story from the twins, too! Happy Bloggiversary (I think mine's tomorrow! - we're the old-timers around this place! lol!)
Oh the fun that is in this post today! First is Mister's card, exceptional and frame worthy I must say. And the "hon" story warms my heart. Then there is the birthaversary that this year just so happens to fall on little Miss Penelope's two month birthday!! And finally the spin in your chair with Hammy, would love to have seen that. Did the poor little guy stumble around sorta sideways when he crawled out of your pocket?!?
Sorry I haven't been around much lately, life has been hectic. So I'm sending belated Anniversary wishes to you and your hubby and wishing you a Happy Third Birth Blogaversary.
Also, I have just realised that I haven't linked up to your NBUS challenge yet, oh dear I had better get a move on. I am so pleased you have had so many entries.
Tell "Hon" I said Happy Anniversary to him too! Does he have a blog now?! John shops in the drawer of oollllddd store bought cards. That story about the boys cracked me right up! How fun. Reminds me of Grant when he was a little fella. I called his dad "Buddy", and he said, "No grandma, that's DAD, I'M Buddy!" Kids...! Like the 'birthaversary' term. You always have just the right new word! Let's party sister. I need to craft with you! Bev
How sweet that your husband gives you a handmade card every year. I also like the term birthaversary. It does have a festive ring to it. Good luck on visiting all participants og your NBUS challenge. It's obvious it is a huge success.
Loved reading your post Darnell. And so recocgnizable. I started my blog first of august 2013 and posted a card every now and then. It was until july first when I entered my first challenge that things started moving. But I'm a lot slower heading foreward than you did. Still only have 75 followers, so it's going a lot slower with me. Waauw 500 entries ?!?! Goodness, lots of work for you. Succes my friend, see you. Veerle xx
Happy belated anniversary to you both! Love your card too - some serious competition there! Hugs Sue
Great card from Hubby and how lucky you are to get one, my Hubby is totally against sending cards and it is my Birthday on Friday and he asked me yesterday, you don't really want a card do you? Well it would have been nice but what sort of card would I get, last year it was an Anniversary card,he just saw the For My Wife sentiment on the front and grabbed it, came to write it and there was Happy Anniversary on the inside.
But we do go away early morning on Friday and I would have to open it before we go or wait till we come back, so I don't really mind
I did comment on your card but really can't remember if I wished you a Happy Anniversay, this year we will be 46 years, and they said it would never last, good job I have the patience of a Saint.
Happy Anniversary and Blogaversary. I am just thrilled that our little joint venture has gone so well. So many entries it is hard to keep up with them all. And, of course it feels good to use some NBUS and encourage others to do the same. And, I love K-squared's card. The best kind of love card because it is clearly sent straight from the heart.
Happy Anniversary (and blogaversary)! Love the card and the K2 signature :) The story of the kids calling hubby "Hon" is priceless :) My hubby's SIL was trying to get her hubby to the dinner table by yelling downstairs and telling him to come up. No reply so she sent her son and he stood at the top of the stairs and yelled "Doug" and he answered right away and came up LOL!
Well isn't the mister a sweetheart Darnell! I too call my husband 'hon' - when he's behaved. Won't tell you what I call him when he doesn't. When he buys me a birthday/anniversary/valentines card he goes to the 1 dollar shop...his reasoning is that he doesn't think he could ever buy a card as good as the ones I make! (Personally I think it's because he's a cheapskate!)
Happy Birthaversary, Darnell! WIshing you many, many more :)
OMG, the Hon story made me laugh. Reminded me of my sister talking to me, ignoring her son's continuous stream of "mom, mom, mom" until he indignantly yelled "Gerry!" and got her attention.
How special that Mister made you a card. Mine doesn't even buy them. AND he wants to be called Mister. lol Out of the mouths of babes. Don't you just have the best stories to tell about the boys. Happy Blogaversary, Darnell. And many more. And congrats on the success of the NBUS challenge. As you can see by the entries, we really need it.
Congrats on all your versaries! I think your husband's card is super sweet. Sometimes I call my husband "Dad" because of the many years of telling our sons to "talk to your Dad," etc. Our grandson always corrects me, saying "Grandpa is NOT your Dad, Granny." But old habits are hard to break...
Darnell, thanks so much for the lovely comment you left over on my blog! I am thrilled to hear you like my creation & that you follow my creative spot too = ) I immediately went to your blog and must say I love what I see: you have a great sense of humor and made me laugh several times!! I'll keep on reading, but first I need to subscribe to your crafty space - I love it! = )
And one last note: I just found the NBUS challenge, and I find the idea of digging out those unused crafty things brilliant - makes me look even for the tiniest unused piece of crafty jewelry in my stash & to create something with it!
Thanks, Steph x
