Joy to the World!

Welcome to Christmas All Year Long!

Unfortunately, it has taken me until almost the last day of January (already it's nearly the last day of January!) to make a Christmas card. At this rate, I'll have eleven cards made by December. Big whoop. But that's okay, next week starts another month and I'll try to do more better.

What counts is that I made one, right?! And here tis:
I had a go at this week's Merry Monday Christmas Card Challenge. The theme is "Carolers/Music." I don't have any carolers, as such. I first tried to use a critter and Hammy tried to manipulate him into singing "Joy to the World." Sadly, the critter ended up looking like he was about to be ill, so I abandoned all hope for him. At which point, the hamster critter went off in a sulk.

(Did you know that sulks are making a comeback now that so many taxi companies are going out of business?)

So instead of a critter, I found an old wooden stamp by All Night Media with an adorable elf standing amid a pile of packages he's been wrapping. He looks as if he is saying, "Wah-Lah!" as the last gift is wrapped. I stamped him, colored him with colored pencils, and then painted him all over with WOS. He giggled like a school girl. He was then given a singing mouth, a fussy cut, and popped up on the world, whee! The world is an MFT die given to me by a bloggie friend. I cut it out in blue and white and conjoined them. The sediment is by Denami Design, heat embossed with ruby red Stampendous e/p.

Wah-Lah!

I'm also entering my card in:
  • "Randolph Day" ~ oh, how funny, can you imagine a "Randolph" day?! I mean "Rudolph Day," silly me. Rudolph Day, as you may have guessed, is a Christmas card challenge. The reins of Rudolph Day have been passed this year from Sarn to Maureen over at Scraps of Life by Scrappy Mo. The challenge only runs from the 25th day of each month to the last day of each month. I hope you check it out.
  • Addicted to CAS is back from holiday break (YAY!) with a new code word: "WORLD."
  • Christmas Card Challenges, where the theme is "Anything Goes"
  • Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which is "Anything Goes."

Sandy Allnock of Sandy Allnock. You are getting a wealth of knowledge and inspiration in the New Friends Corner today as Sandy is another long-time blogger since 2007! I'm sure most of you are already familiar with Sandy through her beautiful works of art, her classes, and her own digital stamp designs!

Nelleke of Farmer Blog. Nelleke has been blogging since 2012. She is the mother of five and grandmother of three boys. As the grandmother of two boys, I know how much fun that is! Nelleke loves having her own craft room to make her wonderful creations. She also loves playing in challenges for inspiration and she has received many well-deserved honors.

Yolanda Garrido of Scrapping Time. Yolanda has only been blogging since 2013, but you would think she had been doing it for years longer. Darnell, this is fabulous! I too have a lofty Christmas card goal this year... hopefully we'll both do better before long. ;) I love your old stamp and the vintage-traditional colors you gave him! The world itself is spectacular and I love the pretty sentiment! The red atop the white base is lovely. Gorgeous work as always, my kind and marvelous friend! It will bring much joy to the recipient. Have a sparkly happy day. :o)

Hugs and blessings,
Karen

Well done you to adapt your stamps so beautifully to meet the challenges. Your jolly elf looks like being on top of the world is just where he belongs. Love that sediment too.

Love your card, I too made a Christmas card the other day only because it was for the Newtons Nook challenge and I only have one set and it is a Christmas one :)

Aaaah! I'm glad I'm not alone in the starting of the Chrissy cards - & yours is fabbo. I think that Elf was up to mischief making sure you didn't use up anyone else 'til his turn came! He looks perfect for your card! And my aim is to do 56 cards. And since that's around 1 a week....well, you can do the math. So far I've done 1. But at least I've started, too;)!!!

What a fun card!! Having 11 cards by Christmas is better than having none I say :-) I would like to make my own this year, I wanted to this year but it all went out the windows when I realised how many I had to do :-P

Sarah said...

What a brilliant card Darnell, your interpretation, as ever, is "spot on"!! xx

Marianne said...

Such a fun card, Darnell, and I love that world die. I intend to make more Christmas cards this year than I did last year. I'm also considering making multiples (2-4) if the design of my card allows it. It sure beats having to make multiples of 10 or more in November.

Happy Belated Randolph Day to you! Since we have a Randolph Zoo and a Randolph Park I'm surprised we don't have a Randolph. And no I don't know who he/she is and why he/she gets a Zoo and a Park (which actually have both been renamed so apparently whatever he/she did was overshadowed by whatever nefarious thing he/she did later to get the naming revoked).

Oh. And fun card. Clever way to figure out how to join the challenge.
