Cheering You On, Marie!

Hi Gang! Welcome to September!! Hey, don't look at me! I told you it was coming!

We are back from our long weekend holiday with the twinz and The Grand Duke. We had a terrific time and I hope you all had a great weekend, too! It feels like a Monday to me, so I'll be more off-center this week than I normally am. Which means I'll be flat on my side.

Today I have a special card to share for a very special lady. Her name is Marie Papadopolou and her incredible blog is baileyrosy. I first "met" Marie on July 8, 2012, when she came to visit the Playhouse and started following me. (I just got a visual of Marie actually following me like a stalker and it made me giggle.) I happily returned the flavor and we've been amusing each other ever since. If you don't know Marie, you are missing out on some of Blogland's most sensational works of art and fun posts! Her designs are insanely creative!

The reason Marie is being showcased on my blog today is because she has been dealing with severe leg pain and put on bed rest. She is unable to sit or lie in one place for too long and she has been told by the bone doctor that it can take up to one year to recover. So Kylie, the owner of Addicted to Stamps and More (ATSM), and bosoom buddies with Marie, has dedicated the current "Anything Goes" challenge to our friend Marie to let her know we are thinking about her and sending her our best get well wishes!!

Since Marie is a hoot, I've made her this get well card:
The pretty watercolor background is DSP from SU. The image is another fun one that was stamped off for me by my friend Gay. I colored it to match the paper. I glazed and drew on the note that the drinkie poo is gin, which is Marie's booze of choice. I'm a wodka girl myself, so when Marie and I do get together someday IRL, we won't have to deal with liquor piflering. Piflering has broken up lots of griendships, I can tell you.
Your card will be winging it's way to you tomorrow, my friend. I am thinking of you often and praying that you are not in too much pain as you make your way through this rough patch. Mwah!

It would be wonderful if you got a chance to make a card for Marie and link it over at ATSM. I know it will cheer her up and be appreciated! Thank you, my friends!

I'm also linking up to Pixie's Snippets Playground (use a snippet) and a second entry in the current "Anything Goes" at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Here is the unique part of this challenge: the prize is a Tim Holtz assemblage clock, autographed by Himself Tim Holtz! I know a lot of you are Timmy fans, so I wanted to pass that along. New Friends Corner

I'm excited to share two new friends that I'd like you to meet today:

Doreen of Doreen's Dream. I am just going to let Doreen's statistics speak for me: She has been blogging since 2009. In 2010 she posted 492 posts. (Hint, there are only 352 days in a year.) She has, as we speak 999 followers. (I was a little bit disappointed that I joined her blog a while back because I wanted to be that 1,000 follower! What a thrill!) Yes, in fact, I think we have found the Queen of Card Blogland!!  Are you in a creative slump? Go here! Doreen will fix you right up with inspiration!

Jacee of Simply Paper Card Design. Jacee has been blogging since 2010, so she, too, has loads of wonderful card inspiration for you! Jacee makes gorgeous layered works of art. You know, those layers that look perfect together, the kind I have trouble doing? Well, Jacee makes them look easy. She is also a doting grandmother and an exceptional flower gardener!

Thank you for joining, ladies, and welcome to the Playhouse!

Computer Update

At this point in the post, I was going to share a photo collage from our fun weekend with the boys, but as I was uploading them to Flickr, the computer crashed again. The new one is here, but it's sitting in its box because of having the little ones two weekends in a row. We were still able to use the old computer as long as we didn't turn it off. Well, the Mister doesn't know it yet because he is at work, but the damn thing just now turned itself off so I think it has goosed its own cook.

I'm just praying that it didn't goose all of our fabulous vacation photos because I delete them from the camera after downloading. (Insert frownie face.) We won't even talk about the fact that there were 324 photos in the set and that I had spent over three hours today culling them and cropping them.

This means the Mister is going to have to bite the bullet and deal with installing the new computer. And his back is still killing him. He was a real trooper on the long weekend playing with the boys and driving all over, but he mentioned this morning that he is finally going to go to the doctor about it. I kept my nagging mouth shut, but it was very hard not to remind him that I suggested he do that three weeks ago and every other day since. Men like to come up with ideas on their own sweet time, doncha know. Cough.

Luckily I had not yet put Marie's card in an envelope and sent it off because the photo of her card was in that set. So I took some new photos and was able to download them to the laptop for this post. Phew. Thank goodness for multiple devices, eh?

Now where is that wodka . ..

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!
Love your card and your post as usual. Love Marie's site. VERY original cards. Hope your hubby doesn't put off the new computer. The next time it goes may be the last time it fails. After many years of building and repairing these monsters all of the signs are there. Delay and you lose everything. - Jim
Hi Darnell,
fab card.
I love the background paper, and your stamped image is going to make her laugh so much.
She is bound to feel a little better.
Big get well soon wishes to your friend.
My DH first wife suffered with a similar prob and was told there was nothing they could do for her except give her pain relief in the form of tablets.
She eventually couldn't take the pain anymore and tried Acupuncture and that stopped the pain.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Poor Marie! That sounds very painful and bed rest is not fun at all. I love your card you made for her Darnell! One of my sayings that I say all the time and boy is it ever true for me. lol I always look behind after a hard days work and wonder why my behind is as big as it was before. Life sure isn't fair. lol I love how you have colored your image, which is fabulous by the way and I love the "gin" reference to the drink in hand. I hope this card put a big smile on Marie's face and helps her to deal with her medical issues. Hugs, Brenda
Your card for Marie is a stunner. I feel her pain and hope that she gets some relief sooner rather than later!
You are so right about Doreen's cards, she is amazing!
My Mister went to the Doc (finally) yesterday with a bad shoulder, I hope they both feel less pain soon, for both our sakes! Hope the computer did not gobble up all the pictures.....
Hugs, Annie xxx
I am so sorry to hear of Marie's leg trouble. It is no fun to be in pain as well as unable to get around. I think this cute card will make her laugh. I love that watercolor paper. It makes a great background for this card. I don't know why men will not just go to the doctor when they have something wrong. Strong arming them into it is a wife's duty I guess. I hope he feels better soon. He has to get that new computer up and running. Maybe he can salvage all the pictures so you can share them. I'm glad you had a great time with the twins.
My dearest Darnell Im sorry I am late joining my own party but was away at my summer house and without internet so have only just seen this .......and I can't stop crying. I am so touched by this amazing gesture from you and Kylie and for all of the warm thoughts and well wishes not to mention the amazing cards . I really don't know what to say. Im deeply moved by your kindness and for all of the support emails and prayers that I have received from you over the past months you are definitely one in a million ! This week has been very difficult for me and I was really at rom bottom until I saw what you lovely ladies had taken the time to do for me. As for your card FABULOUS it made me laugh I only have one little niggle that gin glass is rather on the small side he he !
I do hope Mister goes to the doctors soon and finds some relief , my own mister has been suffering along side me for two months with bone spurs in his foot and should have been for treatment ages ago, what are they like lol !
I do hope that you're photos are recovered nothing worse is there ( except maybe for a husband who wont go the doctors )
Once again I thank you from the bottom of my heart
