Clean & Simple Card Making 2 ~ Homework Day 3

I'm doing a Post Drip today.

I'm no longer in detention at school.  I caught up on my homework.  Yahoo!

One time when I was prolly about ten years old, I reached across the space between desks for something on someone else's desk that wasn't mine, and I tipped my desk over.  Instead of sending me to the Principal's office, the teacher made me go sit in the Kindergarten class with the five-year-olds.

It was all I could do to squeeze into the little baby desk.  I can still feel my cheeks burning when I remember all those innocent round-eyed faces staring at me in disbelief.  Actually, I'm the one that was staring in disbelief, they were staring in amusement!  It was such a genius punishment because it was extremely effective.  I'll bet you have a similar grade-school experience to share, hmmm?  No?  Oh.

The fun thing about taking an online card class is that it is self-paced.  I'm only kidding about being in detention.  It's just easier to keep up and do "funwork" the same day.  I have a better chance of remembering it if I stay on pace.

So without further achoo, here is my card with an off-set opening:

Today's class videos were again excellent!  Thank you, ladies!  I chose to CASE Jennifer McQuire's technique on gradient stamping.  I didn't have the best possible stamp for the technique, but I enjoyed employing it with what I had.  It's brilliant for making a few inks look like more!

~~~
Today I'm thrilled to introduce you to Colleen from One Smile Lifts A Spirit!  Isn't that a wonderful banner name?  I like the entire phrase on her banner, which I'll share here:
One seed can start a garden, one candle can light a room, one step can begin a journey, one conversation can start a friendship, one smile from a handmade card can lift one's SPIRIT!
 True that!  Thank you, Colleen, and welcome!
~~~

I hope you've been seriously enjoying your day!  See you tomorrow!

LITS!

I love this offset style. I've saved a card I received with this style for years, thinking I'd CASE it. Now I'll definitely have to do it.

I LOVE this - the use of the colours and still all that white space - gorgeous, modern and clean! Great job on your homework, you can go sit with the 'big' kids!

This is so pretty! I love how you made it your 'own', and the colors look beautiful! LOVE your bow, too!

Beautiful card! Darnell, I think making you sit with the 5 year olds was a bit mean! When I was 10, I had just moved from a school where it was okay to enter a classroom at lunchtime to grab a pencil or piece of paper from your desk. I did just this in my new school and ended up sitting OUTSIDE the classroom when everyone else went inside. I still think it was harsh punishment when a few quiet words would have worked just as well. :-(

Darnell...sorry to hear you had detention, I imagine that if I get any more demerits I may have to serve detention too. Your card is amazing and I just love your creativity with those clouds, so clever. Be on time tomorrow...

So awesome Darnell. Love how you did your sentiment.

What a funny story. Your cloud gradients are just perfect. What a fun stamp to use for this technique. Isn't it great to be a grown up now, and only do the homework we want to do. Of course, there is always house work, but that can always wait.

Well I think I need to sit in the Kindergarten room as I am two days behind in the homework! I absolutely love your take on today's technique and can't wait to try it myself - I have caught up on all of the videos - just not the homework! Anyway, love your card!

Love your clouds and the bright colors you chose ~ fantastic card! Looks like you are taking a great class. What a mean teacher, I think that punishment was way out of line.

I so relate to your school story! I was sent to sit in the hallway in 7th grade - and didn't EVERY SINGLE TEACHER I EVER HAD have to walk by, and the principal...all in amazement that my honour roll self was plunked down in the hallway. I don't even remember why, but I remember being horrified at the public shaming.
Off-set opening? Love the sentiment tucked on the inside that way :)

Beautiful, vibrant card Darnell. LOVE the bow! The off-set opening (glad you gave it a name) is awesome. The biggest challenge for me would be getting the words on straight! Have a great day and don't fall of your chair. What a punishment that was? I re-call having to stand in the corner, that was humiliating as well. Cheers, Shirleyx

I love the way the front ends short on the right side so the sentiment is still there when the card is opened. Great use of the bow and love the faux stitching! Lovely!

Love the offset design! Back in my day, they actually still did "paddling" and if you happened to be in shop class, you got the privilege of making your very own paddle, complete with holes. Fairly certain they label this as child abuse now days!

OH my goodness! Wasn't tipping your desk over enough punishment without having to send you to the kindergarten class! I'll bet you never reached across the aisle again! I have stories I could tell too :) Anyway, LOVE your card! The gradient clouds is fabulous and love the sentiment on the side like that! So cute! Still trying to talk hubby into my own playhouse! haha!

I love these colors together! To think, when I was a kid, blue and green together were a no no! Look what they were missing! I especially love that skinny sentiment. Just perfect for that space!
