And we're back around to Friday, whoosh!
A quick post today as I'm off to work.
I was out last night having a rowdy good time at an annual Naughty Santa ornament exchange, where you take a number and then have the choice of opening an unopened present or "stealing" one that has already been opened. N.U. Endos and one-liners were flying around the room until we were all weak from laughing.
Here's the adorable ornament I ended up with. He is HUGE! That's a little teaspoon next to him for scale. He will definitely be adorning a table.
I made a really quick card for this week's CASology challenge where the cue word is "sparkle."
Since I die cut a snowflake for my research paper in my previous post comparing the Cuttlebug to the Big Shot, of course, I had to make a card using it. And in doing so, my card ended up looking very "Ardyth-like." She is a member of the design team and you'd have to say I (dared to) CASE the card she made for this. You can click on the link above to visit CASology or you can visit Ardyth at her smashing site, MASKerade.
My card, with lots of added sparkle, which is impossible to photograph.
I am so delighted to introduce you today to three new followers and friends! I'd love for you to visit them and I know you'll make them feel welcome here!
A sparkler herself, please met Kelly Griglione of Notable Nest. Next to her, we have Caz Newton of Candelle Creations. And on her right, is belldoubleyou of Lindenbell Papercrafts. These are very talented crafters just waiting to inspire you!
Welcome, ladies, and thank you so much for coming by! I have to take off, but feel free to stay and check out the place. Sebastian will get you a beverage. Do be careful where you put your backside when you sit down. We were all using glitter yesterday!!
Speaking of backsides, one of the ladies told this story about her friend's children, a brother and sister, who were being schooled by their mother about saying you're sorry.
"Timothy, tell your sister you're sorry."
Six-year-old Timothy turned to his little sister and said, "I'm sorry. But you're still a butt nugget."
A what?! No one had any idea where he picked up that expression, but the grownups, unable to complete the lesson, had to quickly leave the room. It became the new expression of the evening and like little kids, it sent us into fits of giggles every time it was used, especially if the first word was really spat out in proper six-year-old fashion!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day. As always, thank you for stopping by to visit. Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!
Paper: PTI true black
Ink: imprintz detail white
Die: Memory Box snowflake
Bling: Rhinestones from stash;
MS glitter glue
I love this card Darnell (I would have to, wouldn't I? lol!) That intricate die is beautiful and goes perfectly with the elegant greeting you've used. I read with interest your thoughts on the Cuttle Bug and am now very sad that I sold my Big Shot (I got tired of trying to figure out which plates and flipping flippy things to use for which purpose!)So far I've been happy with my bug and the metal shim and I do have this die, but I haven't tried to cut it out yet so I'll have to do some research on my own. Thanks for your lovely comments and the wonderful compliment of CASing my card. I love it on the navy blue - it looks like you're magnifying one little bit of the night sky on a snowy night. Enough rambling! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CASology this week!
That ornament is so cute Darnell, I love him! Your card is gorgeous even if we can't see the blingy bits, the snowflake is fabulous and love it against that blue background. Hope you enjoyed your day off. Hugs, Anne x
Darnell I always save your posts for last so i have time to read. Your sparkle snowflake card is so lovely and your naught ornament exchange snowman is definitely naughty. LOL Have a great weekend!
This is such a pretty card, and I always forget to use that pretty sentiment when I make my cards!
Thanks for the new vocabulary lesson........I feel so honored to be able to expand my language skills when I come here :)
This is simply stunning! I love the clean look of this card.
I totally recognize this as an "Ardyth" card, well done Darnell! And thanks so much for your welcome today, one of your sweet followers stopped by today and left a note. I did have glitter on my face today (who knows it might have been my backside too) ... I brought my ornament projects to a play date since I have to finish them for a family Christmas party tomorrow. Looks like it's going to be a late night again! Oh, and good luck on figuring out the right formula for the BS ... maybe stick a piece of chipboard inside to increase the pressure?!
I love your sparkly card Darnell and your ornament is so cute too - hugs x x
Fabulous card. That ornament looks so striking against the dark card base. I'm still giggling over the butt nugget comment. I've never heard that one! :) ann
Darnell your snowman ornament is ADORABLE! The peppermint candies for earmuffs are so cute. I love your cased Ardyth card as well. The large snowflake is really striking!!!
It was a great card to CASE and you've done it beautifully ... love the drama and the bling. I was wondering how the new word would translate into French ... it's such a great one to use in the car! Anita :)
Glad to hear you had a rowdy great time at your Santa ball exchange :)
Sweet snowman, but judging by the size of him, he surely would have toppled the tree.
Your card is stunning! Clean and simply beautiful! You really did choose the perfect sentiment - the font is bang on!
Let me know if you figure out how to photograph 'sparkle'. I'm sure there will be a whole lot of CASology participants mumbling grrrrrr as they try to capture a decent picture!
Darnell, I immediately recognized the inspiration behind yojur card...and I LOVE your sparkly snowflake! It is so hard to photograph the sparkle, isn't it? You did it well, I must say.
I hate to admit that, as the mother of four children mnyself, I have in fact heard the term "butt nugget" before, although never from one of my own kids (yet). I'm sure there will be many new vocab words added to our repetoir before the day is over!
Love the snowflake card its so pretty.. Your snowman is so cute but yes he probably would topple the tree is he heavy? Will look cute on the table though.. Well I am off to have a look at Ardyth's link to her blog.. Merry Christmas
fantastic CASE of ardyth's card, darnell!! your snowman ornament is so cute!! thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
I think you did a fantabulous job of CASEing Ardyth's card! :) That snowman ornament is just too cute (even if he is a tad large)! What a fun outing!!! Thanks so much for joining us again at CASology! It's always fun to come see what you're up to! :)
Stunning card...love that midnight blue and that snowflake, amazing! I am in love with your sweet snowman ornament, at first I thought it was one of those cake pop things you eat. I love playing that ornament game, we do that but all ornaments have to be Disney.
Fabulous CASE of Ardyth's card, Darnell! The snowflake is so striking on the deep blue. And I love the added bling -are those real diamonds on the tips of the snowflake? ;)
Hi Darnel, well I just love your bauble/ornament/ball that you won but would really love to see photo of the one you made !! Fabulous card and the snowflake against the dark card is so dynamic ! read your post also with interest about the BS and the CB . I had the BS but have recently invested in the Fiskars Fuse which although it is a monster of a machine weights 10 kilos ! but boy oh boy the cranking is minimal I mean even a babe in arms could do it !
I have a feeling butt nugget is going to become a new favourite phrase! :) Loving that big gorgeous snowflake and the bling on the tips. Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
I think Jen & I both are going to start using the phrase 'butt nugget.' In fact, I think I'll start it by calling her one ;) It's a beautiful thing to have friends that you can laugh with until you hurt...or pee. Whichever comes first. (Actually, if the pee happens I tend to laugh harder. But, I die grass.)
I love that cute sweet ornament, and your card though Ardyth-inspired is still all you :)
This is just beautiful,, Darnell! A good use for your experiment!
Just saw this lovely over at Casology - where I've missed the deadline - again! Thanks for expanding my vocabulary first off. And this is just too funny cuz our ladies sport group just had our Christmas dinner on Friday and we did the exact game (our gifts that we bring to exchange are used - something we don't want/like - which also makes for tons of laughter). Well, may I expand your cultural horizon? Check out these bookends:
Loriot, now deceased, was a German institution. A comedian. One of his most famous sketches was in a bathtub. Thus these bookends.
Someone else actually unpacked them and when it was my turn I grabbed 'em cuz I think they're fantastic! For my bookcase upstairs which no one really sees except my family, that is. And I can't believe they are on ebay for over $50!
Anyhoo, hope you enjoyed! Happy holidays!
Just gorgeous ~ I love this snowflake and the card is absolutely stunning!
