One Layer Wednesday 95 ~ Stars and Stripes; Pixie's Crafty Workshop 27; and ColourQ 144

A Thursday hello to everyone!

Today I am participanting in three challenges!

I'm playing in Susan's One Layer Wednesday #95 challenge, which is to make a OLC using at least one stripe and one star.

I'm also playing in Di's Pixie's Crafty Workshop #27 challenge, which is to use up some snippets from your Snippet Mountain.

I am also playing in the fun ColourQ challenge, which is to use these colors:

And this is my take:

We had so much fun yesterday at our friends' annual 4th of July barbecue! One of many highlights was the swooping arrival of a great-horned owl to the tippy top of the neighbor's tree!  One of our friends took a picture so if it turned out, I'll post it soon.  It was HUGE!

But, oh my grits and gravy, I ate soooo much!!   Two of my beliefs:

  • Food always tastes better outdoors.

  • You always eat more the day after you eat too much.  Like you're not already in actual physical pain from the glut you engaged in yesterday?!  And how interesting that glut is gut with an el, as in elbow macaroni.  Ooo, that reminds me, there is still a left-over brownie and Mister will be here any minute.  Must dash.

Enjoy!  As always, thank you for stopping by to visit.   Special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower or leave a comment!

Edit:  I realized after posting that I can't link to Susan's OLW challenge, so I'll think about another card for that.  I paper-pieced the blue and white star paper onto the toe of the booties, so it's no longer one layer.

Paper:  SU white;
  unknown blue w/ white stars
Stamp: All Night Media 995G07;
  sentiment, CG coral
Ink:  SU night of navy, brocade blue,
  poppy red

This is adorable! Does paper piecing count as another layer? I'm never quite clear on these things. It almost seems like one of the one layer challenges was to do paper piecing. Glad you enjoyed the festivities. It was quiet here at our house except for the fire crackers going off in the neighborhood. It was a day of rest so I'm not complaining.

Wow, brilliant card Darnell. Clever you - as always a show stopper :) Lurve those little booties.

Laughing here at your two-part comment, Guess we were both vaccinated with gramaphone or sewing machine needles.

Another great card Darnell. Sounds like you had a great time at your 4th July party - but I'm still confused about the 'grits' - to us in the UK that's something you get in your shoes when you've walked over gravel!!! Having gravy with it sounds like having gravy with your sandpaper.....but I'm sure you'll educate me on this!

Hugs.

I hope you made it to that brownie before the Mister did...haha. Your card is amazing. And to get three in one is even better. So glad you were able to join us at the ColourQ.

SUPER clean and simple card and you must've used teensy snippets up for the paper piecing.

Gorgeous card.

Laughing at your glut comments!

Saw this in the Royal Court at ColourQ and had to come and see who it belonged to. It's so darn cute!!!

And you are so right about food tasting better outdoors - not sure why but it always does!
