A Case of CASEing

Greetings, Stamplings!

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend and your plans for this week are shaping up well. We had a beautiful fall weekend. Crisp and clear with bright blue skies after our rainy week and Thursday looks like it will be sunny and dry for our Thanksgiving pig-out feast. That's always nice so the kids and dogs can play outside.

I'm getting inspiration from several challenges for my Christmas cards. What would we do without our challenges? They are all definitely on my Thanksgiving gratitude list!

Here are a few cards Hammy and I made this weekend.
The inspiration for this card came from the TIME OUT challenge where we are to CASE (copy and share everything) the talented Michele Ferguson with our own little twist. My twist is that I made my CASE of Michele's thank you card into a Christmas card. There is a slight shadow from the sun on the bottom half of the word "Noel," but looking at it straight on, the word is completely hidden! This was fun to make and used a lot of my Christmas pp, so I made several!

~~~
This card was an absolute bugger to photograph between the dark navy card base and the gold-embossed sediment. The view below shows a bit better how the entire card background is splattered in fine gold, but it still doesn't do justice to his golden Winked tunic.
Many of you will recognize that this little elf was inspired by the current Less Is More challenge where we are celebrating DT member Susan's birthday and CASEing her adorable Christmas card. My NBUS elf is from The North Pole Hero Arts and so is the sediment.
~~~

Finally, here's another example of how pretty a tag can look just popped onto a card base. This was the little reindeer tag I posted not too long ago. I thought the woodgrain pp made a lovely backdrop for the dear little deer!
~~~
I'll be offline for a few days (except to pop back with a Thanksgiving card on Thursday) for the happy reason that the twins have this entire week off so Papa and I get to have them to ourselves for a while starting tomorrow! Yippee!!
~~~

Enjoy your day!  No, seriously, enjoy!  LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!  Please let me know you came by so I can be sure to return the flavor!

Your CASE-card looks great! Good idea to use a light DP for the upper part! Thank you for joining us at TIME OUT again!
And I do love the woodpaper behind the tag! Hugs, Gerrina

Great progress! Love the hidden word. Gosh, I still have some of that paper, too. Your elf is winking cutely with all the gold, and the gold splatters on dark blue are fantastic. I always love wood grain. Truly perfect for your tag. Enjoy your Thanksgiving week!

See this is why I have you...to give me ideas. Like the use of patterned paper (of which I have a ton) for making those camouflaged sentiment Christmas cards. It must be so difficult for you and Hammy...being so clever and all. Forgot about the Less Is More challenge, but since you're entering that adorable elf, not sure I'll enter. You've been on such a winning roll lately...and that card is a sure winner. You were right in choosing the woodgrain paper for the tags background...it looks like it belongs there.

Such beautiful cards as always Darnell and I'm thrilled to see you were inspired to CASE Susan's card at Less is More. Your elf looks like he could be up to some sort of mischief but that's what they're about isn't it. Love the first icy snowflake card and your tag is simple classy elegance. Hmmmm may have to CASE that myself. thanks for joining in at LIM and happy thanksgiving. x

That little reindeer does look rather perfect with the woodgrain background, deliciously rustic with a touch of glamour in the gold stripes! What a richly coloured and bold elf against that gorgeous shimmery navy, so eyecatching with the yummy splatters! That snowflake pp with the camouflaged sentiment is just a delight ... fresh, cool and wonderfully crisp, just like frosty snow! Delighted to have you playing along with us at Time Out! Wow Auntie, you and Hammy have made some fabulous cards here! That Noel card is just stunning-now I wish I had a die cut Noel cause I would CASE this card! I love that sweet little elf, he is just adorable. The stripped paper makes this card so festive and then the gold just puts it over the top! Don't have any elves either. I think I need to add some NBUS to my stash. lol Then there is that deer tag card, oh my goodness that is just adorable! I love how you made the tag kinda look like a paint chip. That deer is just as sweet as it can be with is red nose and cute bow. Love the tag mounted on the wood grain paper too. Just fun cards-you and Hammy work well together! Happy Thanksgiving Auntie!!! Hugs, Brenda

Brilliant cards, Darnell! I love your use of designer paper in your TIME OUT card, such beautiful colors! That large sentiment die is a stunner. I so so so sympathize your photographing problems with the LIM card -taking photos has been such a pain lately here too but mainly because it's either dark or raining... Some sun every now and then would be a fun chance!! Love the combo of gold and navy. Thanks for joining us at Less Is More and Time Out!

Three very cool cards. The Timeout card is fantastic, love the colour and great design.

Lovely cards and plenty of inspiration. I feel your pain when it comes to photographing projects to show glitz and sparkle - use a flash and it blows out the rest of the colour - don't use flash and you lose the sparkle - put it in bright sunshine or under lights and you get shadows everywhere - but then, we are crafters not photographers!! CASEing has always been one of your fortes, Darnell, and those two cards are a prime example of how you take someone else's card and make it your own. The choice of woodgrain paper was perfect for the darling deer tag.
