CTS#14; SSS; ATCAS #5; Bonus Day 1 ~ Washi Tape and A Valentine Heart For My Good Man

And we're back around to Friday ~ whoosh!

I made some funwork for Bonus Day 1 of my online Clean and Simple Card Making 2 class, which is various techniques using washi tape and dies.  I also saw the sketch for this week's challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch (#14) and I put the two together.  The wonderful sketch is by one of my favorite card artists, Jackie Rockwell.

I am also entering my card in the current Simon Says Stamp, where the theme is "Have a Heart" and where there is always a fab prize!

I left my card cleanly black and white, becousin I do love a black and white card.  I did toy with the idea of adding just a sweet spot of red ... I may still do that.  Sometimes it's hard to know when to stop and when to add just one tiny little sumpin sumpin, you know?  Well, course you do.

I think this could be filed in the "Valentine Card Ideas For A Man" file.  You don't even need stamps or ink to make it!

At the urging of some friends, I'm also entering this as my second entry in the Hearts challenge at Addicted to CAS (ATCAS) #5, just under the twine, so to speak.

~~~
We have a new friend!!  You are going to be tempted to think I made up her blog name just to be silly, but I didn't.  This funsome crafty lady did it all by her ownself!!  Please welcome, Suzy from Suzie McFloozy!  Doncha just love that name?!  Thank you, Suzy, I think you'll find yourself right at home in our rockin party arty Playhouse!
~~~

So that's the end of card talk.  Feel free to fly down to the bottom, leave some love, and fly out!  It won't hurt my feelers if you don't read to the end; I know time is precious, Festus.  TFL!!

~~~
My sister, Dood, sent me an email she got from someone containing an essay written by A. Nonnie Mouse.  That gal sure writes a lot!  Since she prefers to remain unrecognized, I've gone ahead and taken some liberties with the text of the original email and then, after the quoted section, I've added a few of my own.  I'm sure I'll think of more after I've published this post.
If you want, please feel free to add your own entry in your comment and I may just turn this into its own post or page here on the blog, giving your entry appropriate authorship credit, of course.  Here we go.
I have visited many places, but I've never been in Cahoots.  Apparently you can't go alone.  You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
I've also never been in Cognito.  I hear no one recognizes you there, and the town is made up mostly of the family of A. Nonnie Mouse.
I have, however, been in Sane.  They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there.  I have personally made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family, and work.
I would like to go to Conclusions, but to get there you have to jump.  I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
I've also been in Doubt.  That is a sad place to go and I try not to visit there often.
I have been in Continent, but I don't remember what country I visited.  It's an age thing.  I just remember that it was very wet and damp there.
I've been in Flexible a time or two, but only when it was important that I stand firm.
As I've gotten older, I find myself in Capable more often.
One of my favorite places to visit is in Suspense!  It really gets my adrenalin flowing and the old heart pumping!
***
Yesterday, I found myself in Adequate.  There are too many mirrors there for my comfort, which made me fully aware of my shortcomings.  If you get lost driving out of there, you may find yourself in Ability.  That's hard on your self-esteem, so beat feet out of there.
When I finish up here in a minute, I'm heading over to in Cessant.  I hadn't planned to go there today, but now that I've started this, I know that before I can even catch up, all the people in my head are going to be in Clined, where there is a huge Word Travel Agency.
***
Okay, your turn!  I think this will appeal to you word lovers out there.  This is a brain exercise, so no fair asking Mr. Google or his Dad, Mr. W. Wideweb, for help!!
~~~

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your day. LITS!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower!

Hmm..touch of red or not..that's a hard one. I do agree, this is perfect for a man. I still need to make one and a birthday card his birthday on Sunday..yikes..I better get busy. It's so hard to make something for him when he's always looking over my shoulder to see what I'm making.

I love this in black and white! A touch of red is usually my preference, but in this case I like the stark contrasr of black and white. Great use of washi tape and a fun take on the sketch!

Oh wow, I like the B&W as-is ... it's super-striking and just perfect for a man! A+ on your homework, Darnell. Now I need to spend some time in Spiration. It's where all the cool card makers hang out, you know!

Love your black and white Valentine Darnell. With or without a sumpin sumpin red, it is fabulous!

Black and white perfection ... I love it ... so dramatic!

I was lucky a few years ago to travel a bit ... I was in Vigorated, which was a most stimulating experience ... I got to call at Tractive where everything was really beautiful ... and I think I finished up in Ebriated, but the details are a little hazy!

Anita :)

Fantastic card, Darnell! Black and white looks great but a touch of red would also look good.

I've been in Tent a few times but it's a bit draughty. I've also been in Tense but I got too wound up.

Hi Darnell, Love your take on the sketch, beautiful. Great design with the circle opening to the pattern on the inside. And yes could work well as a 'manly' card. I'm not good at coming up with a twist on words, but I enjoyed reading your post. Cheers, Shirleyx

That is an absolutely fabulous take on the sketch - love it in black and white (although the red background seems in tegral, so maybe a pop of red is in evitable?) Thanks so much for playing along with CTS this week! And thank you for my 'wild' valentine, which I opened early because I was in patient.

Brilliant Darnell! And thank you so much for your beautiful in the pinks card, which arrived today :) Hugs, Di xx

Great card for hubby, love the black and white. I was in HotWater the other day and turns out all I had to do was turn down the temperature. It caused me to be in Distress but I decided to leave that to card making.

Right now I'm in-delible. I'll never forget this card because it's become a permanent picture in my little brain. It's fantastic. Love it just the way it is; all b&w, but can picture it with a teensy red heart on the chevrons... And now, I'm in Conclusive...great post! (again!) Bev

Resist the Red! The monochromicity is practically perfect in every way!!

And you can go off people, you know.........!! Not even for you, my lovely Darnell, will a wrapping paper bag ever sully my craft room ever, ever, ever again!! *grin*!!

Thanks for dropping by...you always make me laugh :)

Darnell,

I forgot to leave you a wordy comment... I didn't mean to forget but I was in Advertent yesterday and my brain was in Active. If I could get them to work in Conjunction with each other, we would be in Vincible!

This card is awesomely STRIKING and CLASSY and STYLISH. I think it looks really bold in black and white. Love your taste.
I think I need to visit determination and persistance and "Never say die" - thanks for sharing that brilliant piece of writing.

You're so sweet Darnell.

Fun sayings I can't think of anything clever at the moment to add.

Your card is fantastic!!! Loving the very cool pattern peeking through the heart. So glad you played along with us!

Well its good you listen to your friends -- congrats [and well deserved] on the CAS win! I LOVE this card -- I will be CASEing it too :)

Di said...

Yay - well done on the CAS win honey!

I know someone's used a version of the foist one of these offerings which I hadn't seen, but my committee meeting got kinda boring yesterday. I counted the number of floor tiles. pin holes in the wall, tucks in the curtains etc. and then I came up with this:

I was in Delible - and left my mark there.

I thought I was in Valuable - until I was asked to leave.

Ha, the final one could be true as am sure I was spotted scribbling notes that had NOTHING to do with the excrushiatingly boooooring meeting.

Hey, I volunteer - what should I worry about!

Hugs, Di xx

A few years ago I found myself in Valid, when I complained about being there I was told to try the neighbouring town, now I don't want to dis Able but I didn't think much of that either. So I wandered some more got stuck in Conceivable and in Just. A bad Dr told me perhaps I was actually in Myhead but I luckyily found a good one who told me I was definitely in Capacitated but that she could help me find my way back home.
