Fall Into Winter

Hello Stamplings!

I'm looking through welcome raindrops and hoping you are doing well. These raindrops would not be happy drops for those of you in the UK, Italy, and France where everyone is sick of the incessant rain and wind. My sympathy to all those who have experienced flooding and damage.❤

I'm straddling the holiday tables in the Playhouse these days. Usually I like to finish one holiday before I start another and if I'm honest, I think I need to go back to that way of designing. Or maybe I'll start a trend and next year everyone will be putting fall leaves on their Christmas trees!

Fall
1. This photo should be in the dictionary under QACAS (quick and clean and simple). I used some beautiful rub-on leaves from Taperlogy and a sediment from PTI stamped in copper ink onto hammered card. This is my first time using these rub-ons and the color and detail of their images is amazing.
2. For this card, I used a fall leaf e/f and Hammy picked out a piece of schplattered pp for the background. The autumn sediment is from Technique Tuesday stamped with fall-colored inks. The leaves were cut from pp or from snippets from old smooching or alcohol inking in my stash. You know how alcohol always leads to smooching ... that's all I gonna say about that because you know what I mean.
3. This card is also uber QACAS, using the same pp and a found sediment strip from my stash. The leaves were die-cut using a friend's dies and pp from her stash!

Challenges
Another simple design, except for the hours it took for the layers of Glossy Accents to dry on the sediment! I think the snowflake circle die is from Hero Arts, but I can't find it at the mo. The joy die is definitely from Hero Arts and it's definitely cut from the same dark purple paper as the card base, even though the photo makes it look black.

Challenges
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!
*Life is too short!
A beautiful selection of cards Darnell, and Hammy has been a great help, I am sure... those stickon's are amazing. Love your stamped sediment in card #2.
Instead of glossy accents, try cutting a word from black card that you have covered in wide scotch tape, and then layered for dimension. Super quick, less messy, and very effective - that said, GA has it's place though :)
Wow you have been busy! I thought they were real leaves on the first card, all fabulous! Xxx
Fabulous cards Darnell, as always. Your autumn themed cards reminded me of our recent trip to our local arboretum, where the colours are amazing this time of year. After the recent storm which hit the UK last week, I was surprised that there were any leaves left on the trees at all! xx
You and Hammy have certainly been busy with these three beautiful autumnal cards and the super Christmas one which is a reminder that colder weather is on the way (hopefully a little less rain as well)
Your autumnal CAS cards are delightful, such beautiful rub-on leaves in the first one and just love the sentiment!! Love the different patterns of the leaves in the third too!
Well done with all the glossy accents layers for the sentiment in the Christmas card, it looks so striking!
Also in Italy flooding and damages. :(
I was wondering what you'd done to get those leaves so perfect in the first card, those rub ons are so perfect!
The time to let your GAs dry on your Christmas card was certainly worth it, a great take on the new Color Hues colours. :)
Great cards. Love all the Autumn ones, neat and pretty. The Autumn stamp is absolutely perfect
Glad you got some rain! Was needed I think... Hope you got enough? Like the bright leaves on the first one and the texture of the 2nd! And a great CAS-Christmascard; love the blue... Hugs, Gerrina
Fabulous cards Darnell..I love the autumn colours and I am really drawn to your QACAS card...love it! Those rub ons look printed which shows how far they have come from 'the first time around'. Liking the design of the Christmas card too and we all could do with a bit of Joy in our lives. Hope you are well. xx
As usual, what a fine and fun collection of cards. I love the embossed backgrounds and especially how colorful the sentiment is on #2, but those die-cut leaves on #3 are amazing with all the texture and color. The Christmas card is a classic beauty and even though it took a long time to dry, the sentiment just draws the eyes in now that it's finished. Have a great week ahead!
Beautiful cards, Darnell. Love the rub ons you found. So realistic. Your joy card is so pretty, too. Happy to see your lovely cards. Hope you are well!
I love fall and all the colors that go with it. Your leaf cards are pretty. Really like the Autumn stamp. The joy card was worth the wait. It is spetacular.
I love the rub on leaves and the simple design. All three leaf cards are so pretty and the Joy is a happy card with the snowflakes softly falling. Glad you finally got some rain there.
Beautiful makes! Here it definitely feels more winter than autumn, but things can turn around so quickly, so maybe I’ll say the opposite in 10 minutes:) I love the pattern and textures of your fall leaves made with your friend’s dies. And the glossy accent on joy has a great effect.
i am right there with you an am making Fall and Christmas cards at the same time. I think it keeps things fresh. Your Fall cards are all terrific, the one that really caught my attention is the one with the word autumn, I love that. As for your Christmas card for Color Hues, The glossy accents was a nice touch for sure and fit perfectly among the snowflakes. Thanks for joining us at Color Hues.
I love it when cards come together easily--and you find things already for a card in your stash. This is a wonderful collection of cards. My fave is the last one--worth the time it took for those Glossy Accents to dry!
Wow, D! You've been very creative - it's quite possible the leaves on my Maple out back could be around until Christmas - bring it!
I never had much luck with rub ons - you've found the key: get hammered first! [seriously lovely!]
Lovely Autumn cards so colorful and CAS. And the Christmas one is so pretty, too, in the Color Hues colors.
The Autumn cards are gorgeous, and the "joy"
card isn't too shabby either!
I like autumn colors and all three cards are beautiful. The first one is a school example of CAS. It has stolen my heart. Christmas card is very nice. It has everything that Christmas card needs.
Our leaves are falling fast and not as pretty as the ones on your cards!, Dolly! And the shine on the joy was worth the wait! So good to hear your voice! Mwah!
I like the rub ons! Pretty cards, Darnell!
I love all your leaves, Darnell. I've never tried rub-ons but they look realistic. The leaves and pp from your friend are fabulous. The circle of snowflakes is so pretty. I have one with just a few ;) Adding the GA and waiting for it to dry was well worth it.
Fab line-up of cards today. I love the warm colors of fall/autumn cards. I have a few fall rub-ons, but I haven't tried them yet. Maybe tomorrow. I know what you mean about finishing cards for one holiday before starting another. If Thanksgiving and Christmas weren't so darn close together, it wouldn't be a problem!
Lovely selection of autumnal cards...and the joy is sweet and sentimental and festive as well. Hope you are doing well.
Such a beautiful selection of cards, Darnell! I too am there with you, creating for both fall and Christmas. It's both exhilarating and exhausting, right? Love the Color Hues sample with the pretty snowflake circle and perhaps the perfect die-cut sentiment to fit inside! And personally I think the wait for GA to dry is worth the end result - yours certainly is! Thanks for sharing at Color Hues!
Three fabulous leafy creations Darnell, and I have to say the stickers on the first are very realistic. The ones you cut from leftover bits of smooshed and alcohol inked pieces and the pp also look great, and love the splattering and leafy embossed background on the second too. Your Christmas 'Joy' bringing up the rear is so shiny and gorgeous over the pretty snowflake aperture, and the soft blue colour is perfectly wintery looking. x
I thought I’d pop over to see what you are up to. A wonderful selection of fall cards, Darnell!! The Joy Christmas card is beautiful, also, with the awesome dimension and shine! Thanks again for the beautiful birthday card it’s being displayed in my dining room! Take care, hugs!!
Like you queried before, whose idea was it to lump all these holidays together? I need to come up with a better system, too, cuz mine's not working. Your first QACAS autumn card is utterly perfect. Love all your cards to pieces, Darnell.
TK said...
A bevvie of beauties, Darnell! I too am amazed at the detail of your stickers, they sure don't look like stickers.. You've made some amazing cards, for all both holidays
Beautiful Autumn cards Dolly. Love the rub-ons --- so pretty! Your smooshed and pp leaves are gorgeous for the next two cards. Always great to make quick cards. And your Christmas card is so pretty. LOVE the bright blue and white with the black sentiment. I'm with you ... glossy accents takes a long time to dry. I've started using more of my UTEE and doing a few layers of embossing. It's not quite the same as the glossy accents, but it's a lot faster. :) xx
Fabulous fall cards. I especially love the Autumn sediment which I absolutely do not need lol! Super CAS Christmas card and so much patience with the GA - I use gloss cardstock.
Don't you just LOVE Taperology! Their rub ons work SO perfectly and look so lovely - your beautifil leaf card being proof of that sis! Love the splatter and leaves on your second two lovelies and then your wonderful Circle of Joy pops up there at the end, so pretty with that big shiny JOY! Julia xx
Great trio of fall cards, Darnell - of course my fave is #3 with me being the lucky recipient!! All the leaves are gorgeous but that black leaf on the embossed dot paper really caught my eye! Stunning snowflake window with the joy over the opening - love the blue behind!!
Vicky Hayes said...
All four cards are gorgeous Darnell but the first one made me swoon a little - and I was intrigued to read that the leaves are rub ons. The effect is in the positioning! Your frosty Joy card (does that sound like an oxymoron?) made my heart beat faster too. Cutting the 'joy' out of glossy card would make this card a winner for batch making so I may have to borrow this idea as my card stash is still looking a bit meagre :/ I am typing from damp, cold and dark middle England where my wellies are currently getting a lot of wear, so thank you for your thoughts. Mwah! Vicky x
Ooo love those Autumnal cards Darnell. I thought you might have pressed the leaves on the first one - the leaves are so realistic! The non-traditional colours in the last one are pretty funky too. Your Christmas card is lovely - purple and light blue is a really lovely colour combination isn't it! Hugs, Kate!
