Joy and Janis

Hello Stamplings!

How have you been? No matter which side of the world you are in, it's always exciting to welcome spring and fall! It's so great to be back in the Playhouse and needless to say, Hammy was happy to be out of the suitcase!

Onefer
A dear friend let me borrow the very large and very cool Joy and Noel word dies from Penny Black. They make such pretty QACAS cards. I cut the Joy from patterned paper and then Hammy suggested adding a snowflake from Simon Says, changing out the center star to draw the eyes in. I have to say, I may get these word dies for myself ... there are lots of fun options that come to mind for filling the large O in the die-cut words.

Challenges
Twofer
Except for the Santa hat, all the ingredients in this recipe were made using dies and snippets I borrowed from friends. Well, the snippets weren't borrowed. My friends were happy to be rid of those! To make him look Christmassy, I added the tiny Santa hat from Memory Box to kitty's head. We couldn't find the little ball die for the top of the hat in the die envelope, but Hammy saved the day by finding a tiny flower die that worked even better!

(I am sorry that the cat from Simply Graphic looks like it is being electrocuted. His eyes did that because I used the flash.📸)

Before I left on my travels, Jo from The Christmas Kickstart Challenge called in to let me know she was doing a special tribute to our mutual friend Janis Woolwright, who sadly passed away in January this year. Every October, Janis ran her Cat Lovers Blog Hop, so Jo is holding this month's Kickstart challenge to remember Janis. Thank you for doing this, Jo!

I'm happy to be joining the tribute and it would be lovely if you could play along, too! And, p.s., there are sponsors and prizes, so check it out!

Uh Oh.

And in other news, I flew home and came down with a cold two days later. Just to be sure it was only a cold, The Mister put on his scientist hat and did a Covid test. It was positive.😧We happened to have additional tests from a different company, so we ran the test again ... and again it was positive.😵‍💫
It has taken me a coupla days to write this post and last night the Mister had a sore throat and early cold symptoms. Sure enough, he took a test and he, too, has Covid. We aren't really surprised. Now we can commiserate together through what will hopefully be a short complication-free convalescence.🙏

Take care out there and enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

*Life is too short!

So sorry about the Covid. You are #3 of those I know who've come home from a recent trip and tested positive. Hope it isn't too bad. I love the JOY card, and the snowflake was such a good idea! I've seen enough beautiful cards with that die that it's on my wish list as well! Take good care of yourself.

The JOY die is such a wonderful way to make quick and festive Christmas cards. I can think of a few options for filling the "O", too. Once of them would be to set your funky little kitty in there with his Santa hat. Love the kitty card, too. I hope you recover from COVID very quickly. My husband and I had it last year after going to see a movie for the first time in three years. Needless to say, we haven't been back. It's movies at home for us for a while!

Two great cards Darnell, and love the look of the 'Joy' and the snowflake in the large 'O' works brilliantly, and love the pretty paper you used, and the sweet little star in a complementary colour is very pretty. Who could resist that cute cat on the second, and I love the added Santa hat and finished with some super stars and a lovely sentiment. So sorry you and Kevin have both got Covid and hope you are soon feeling better, but apart from that I hope you had a good trip. x

Oh no, Darnell, I hope you and hubby feel better soon. My brother ended up with Covid last month on a cruise to Greece and spent several days of his long-awaited vacation in their room with a high fever and misery. Weeks later, he is finally starting to feel better, but the fatigue almost got the better of him. I hope your and hubby's experience is much milder. My brother's wife only ended up with a mild cough. But as for the reason I'm here, your cards are beautiful, and in particular I am sure you know that I am drawn to the kitty card! You managed to make an adorable card with your borrowed crafty items! Super sweet too! I love the kitty! Thank you for linking up this adorable card at Christmas Kickstart's Cat Lovers Christmas Hop! I hope you will feel well enough to come back and join us again before the end of the month! Sending hugs and get well wishes!

Two excellent QACAS cards, they have to be the best sort in these busy times. So sorry to hear that covid has finally caught you. I am hearing there is a lot of it about at the moment. I am hoping it passes by quickly for you. It is good to know that the vaccines are preventing it from being too serious although feeling rough for a while is no fun and you have already been through a horrible illness this year too xx

First card with a big word and small snowflake is fantastic CAS. I like it! The second card with the cute cat is very nice too. Great idea with Santa hat.

So sorry about Covid, Darnell. I'm praying that it's short lived and you and the Mister are healthy soon.
I love that big joy and a big hurrah to Hammy for suggesting a snowflake belonged in the center.
I'm also sorry about your friend Janis. Your kitty card in memory of her is so cute.

Hello back, fellow stampling. It has taken me a while, but I finally had a nice scroll through and thoroughly enjoyed it. This joy die is surely full of possibilities as to filling up that great big "O". I love the pretty snowflake with the coordinating blue star center. Gosh, I've missed all the fun of this craft over the past month. Love LOVE your kitty in the Santa hat! What a delight-filled card! I'm sorry about your Covid illness and hope you recover quickly and surely. When I was sick recently my doctor decided it was not Covid, but it settled in my lungs as pneumonitis and was painful and rather scary. A long road to recovery followed. Certain things have never been quite the same, but there are other factors that may be affecting me. Enough about that. It was good to stop by here today. Sending hugs and well wishes.

So sorry to hear you and the Mister both have Covid. Hopefully short-lived and not too awful. I know so many people who are getting it right now. Looking forward to my next vaccine in a month or so so that I can feel better protected. Love your cards! That large JOY makes a great CAS card! So many options of what to put inside the letter O - love your choice of a snowflake. And your sweet little cat is a perfect addition to the collection of cat cards over at the Christmas Kickstart challenge.

I had to laugh when you wrote about the kitty looking electrocuted! Its a gorgeous card. The yellow of the kitty pops and goes so beautifully with the red. Thanks so much for joining in on Cat Lovers Christmas Challenge and remembering Janis xx

Wishing you and your hubby a speedy recovery. So many people catching Covid these days. Gorgeous cards, I've had my eye on that Joy die, I may have to give in.

It seems like everyone that travels these days gets to come home with COVID. It's not exactly the souvenir that you want. Nor do you want to share it. Sorry to hear that you and the Mister have it.

I was drawn immediately to the JOY card. It brought me joy for sure. My first thought when I saw it was, "Did she use Brushos on that card?". I love the blue.

Take care of yourself and each other. Saying a prayer for you. [Bunny]

Fabulous cards Darnell! Like you, I also adore the JOY and NOEL dies. They are super for quick and easy cards.

Hope that you and Kevin have recovered from Covid - my timeline is a bit skewed so am not sure which trip you brought this home from. Take care.

Love as always

Di xx

Oh no - sorry you both have covid. When I saw the cotton buds I thought it was a lead in to using them to paint flower heads! It's effective, you could give it a go.
Your first card is a lovely CAS design and a nice touch to use the graduated colour. The second one is so much fun.
