Hello Stamplings!
I hope this finds you doing well and not impacted by all the terrible weather-related suffering that's happening around the world. There seem to be more catastrophes than ever happening all at once.
The post title today stands for Embossing and Stenciling on Patterned Paper. It all started because the brief this month at CAS Mix Up is Stenciling Over Patterned Paper. I wanted to try it and then once I got started . . .

I went through my patterned paper and I found a half-sheet of this pretty wave pp. I knew I had an cute whale die from PTI, so I die-cut one and then used the negative space to stencil the whale onto the paper. I ended up accidentally stenciling the whale over the pattern in such a way that she ended up with a smile!
In order to keep my design CAS and use the Freshly Made Sketches sketch (turned horizontally), I cut the pretty pp into a diagonal panel. It is E = Embossing week on the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar, but after going horizontal, I realized that all my wave e/fs are vertical.😮 Hammy to the rescue! He reminded me that I have a horizontal wave die, so I used a rubber embossing mat and turned the die into an e/f! The NBUS sediment is from the same PTI whale set.
Addicted to CAS (Water); Allsorts (Embossing); Freshly Made Sketches (sketch turned sideways); Seize the Birthday (Funny/Punny); and Just Us Girls (Water).

For my Christmas twofer design, I used a JoAnn's Park Lane e/f called Holly Berry using a pretty raspberry cardstock.
Here's a photo of the old SU DSP I used. The poinsettia stencil is from Tim Holtz, blended with raspberry ink. I cut the poinsettia stencil panel down to a banner and added a simple sediment from SSS's Holiday Greetings Mix I.
I made a few more simple cards while I was on a roll and Stanley has a pile of pp for me to match with stencils tomorrow. I'm enjoying that part as much as the stenciling ... pairing the stencils with the pp to make the best designs gets my 'ol grey matter working!

And another technique I've never tried--your cards are both inspiring! Love the way you turned the wave die into an embossing folder! Another technique that I don't use often enough. Perhaps I need Hammy and Stanley around to help me remember all these things! Have a great week!

That wave paper is wonderful, Darnell, and what a great idea to make a stencil from the die. Your little whale is definitely smiling and happy to be swimming through those waves. Thanks for sharing that card with us at Just Us Girls and CAS Mix-Up. I'm glad you like stenciling over patterned paper and that Stanley has more ready for you. The paper behind the poinsettia stencil works with the little bit of greenery.
Both cards are very creative and truly beautiful. However, I especially admire the first card, where everything works perfectly for me. And such a creative approach to the die, which can also be used as an embossing folder. You're a genius, my dear Darnell.

What a great way to use texture and that sweet wale looks good like this! The twooer looks like cards in a style I haven't made long agosince long, but is a beaitiul one!

I LOVE that sweet whale that is smiling away as she swims through the beautiful waves of patterned paper. :) Adorable. Using the die-cut to create your own stencil and a die to embossed the waves is very creative and a great way to get more out of your die-cuts! The paper you used for your Christmas card is so pretty ... looks perfect with the stenciling poinsettias and lovely over the deep colour of your holly embossed card base. That little whale card is just delightful. You have paired those different products together really well. Love the addition of the googly eye too. Love how the sentiment doesn't overwhelm the lovely stencilled paper on your second card, which is also very pretty. Love the deep pink embossed background. We have some cooler weather this week and maybe even some rain. You never know! xx
That stencilled whale is so cute Darnell, and the googly eye gives it loads of character, and very clever to use a die made into a stencil and then the waves die embossed, and the wave pp is perfect. The second Christmas make works brilliantly with the foliage and little flowers pp covered with the toning pink poinsettias and holly, and the holly and berries EF also in pink makes a terrific background. I don't believe I've ever considered stenciling on DSP. Thanks for sharing this idea--I need to give it a try. We've had "seasonal" weather here in Minneapolis for a change. But it makes me so sad to see the catastrophes in other parts of the country (and world!). The earthquakes in South America make me worry about another California quake, too. I hope your home is not too near the fault line, my friend!

These are both so very cool. The fish is adorable and that color of holly and poinsettia is beautiful. I would have never thought to use that color. I wish Daisy could remind me of what I have like Hammy does. You're so lucky to have him!
Awww, I looked at your whale's smile and thought it was part of the whale stencil! So cute and happy. Love it's big googly eye. Beautiful Christmas card with the embossed raspberry cardstock. You chose perfect paper for your stenciled poinsettias. It looks meant to be! I laughed and laughed at your funny today. Oh, how I can relate! I will send this to my friend. We got up to a damp morning which I think might be just heavy fog, but it's a welcome sight. Rich groaned about the damp day, but I told him at least we're not on fire or flooding. My heart hurts for everyone affected by these extreme weather catastrophes.

I love the way you've done the water for the whale with the mix of patterned paper and embossing! The Christmas card is great with the poinsettia stencilling over the patterned paper and then layered onto the holly embossed panel.

What I love about your card is that well actually looks like he’s underwater. Great use of this stencil over printed paper and it also makes a great birthday card. Good to see you here at sees the birthday challenge.
