Happy Say What?

Hello Stamplings!

When I was checking out what happy thing we should celebrate this week, what with wars and all, I came across something that made me laugh so hard, tears were running down my leg. I startled Hammy and he fell off the rim of the wastebasket where he had been practicing his schplattering. He fell straight onto a wad of masking tape (now covered with schplatters), which, of course, stuck to his fur. He's fine, but I've got the jiggles all over again!

Here you go. This is what the Interwebs told me we should celebrate on March 9th: The first site said, "Panic Day!" and then immediately below, the second site said, "Get Over It Day!" Okee-doekey.

Let's talk cards and forget everything else. This is the second Monday of March and my I.D.E.A.S. Calendar is D = Dies and there are a few challenges where the prompt is also dies/die cuts. Plus, I was inspired by the 12th Birthday celebration at the TIMEOUT Challenges. The talented Stef Perry of Perry Papercrafts is the Muse with a beautiful card for us to CASE.

Stef's card is on the TO prompt below and this is my CASE:
Thank you, Stef, for the inspiration and thank you Nonni and Sandie for starting this wonderful challenge all those years ago!

I started with a piece of schplattered pp and layered that with a piece of embossed paper which I inked using a brayer.

I'm trying to use some of the thousands of sheets of gorgeous pp I've got, so I used some of it to cut this NBUS die from Alexandra Renke. And then what happened was,
I got into a die-cutting fugue and cut about 22 of them! I wish I was kidding, considering I'm trying to use my schtuff, not add to it, but they looked so pretty cut from pp. The gold-embossed sediment was in my stash.

Morefers
Ahem, speaking of die-cutting fugues! I didn't even count the dozens of butterflies I made. It gets rather addictive! I'm happy to say that I made three of each color before I stopped, which was good for my stash because I was out of birthday cards. And now it occurs to me that I can tuck one or two butterflies in the cards when I send them out. I used a Tim Holtz plaid stencil and the charming sediment is from HLS.

I was inspired by the current sketch by Karren at Freshly Made Sketches and the "Anything With Wings" challenge at Seize the Birthday and 613 Avenue Create Also: Inkspirational - Use stencils (option plaid) and Krafty Chicks - Birthday and Just Add Ink (Stencils-Dies or Both).

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
And remember, go ahead and panic, but only for a little bit, and then get over it!
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!
*Life is too short!
  1. Great cards, Darnell, with all the butterflies and pretty dies in all of them. Your stash will be thanking you, and so will others when they receive any of these pretties.
    As for the fugue, I had to get a laugh of my own. I quickly looked up the meaning, because there obviously had to be more than one -- this is English, right?! Now, you go look it up and look for the psychiatric meaning, it goes right along with your "panic" then "get over it"!
  2. There certainly seems to be a 'special day' for everything under the sun nowadays - maybe you could start a die cutting day🤣. Great selection of cards and great that you have 'spares' to make even more. Thank you for today's laugh 🤪and inspiration
  3. Your posts always make me smile Darnell and we certainly need something at the moment! The 'Don't Panic' reminds me of an old Dad's Army sketch, I'm sure Mr Google can help you out if it's not familiar to you. Five fab makes to add to your stash to boot too! :)
  4. Your single bloom is gorgeous Darnell - I'm a bit partial to veins of gold and you've reminded me I have some lovely DPs that need using up! So glad you were a-mused by Stef's card (is that the passive verb of being inspired by a muse ... well it should be)! and joined our challenge! And your "more-fers" are delightful too - isn't it great to have a little sunshine and see how they sparkle! Hugs, Kate!
  9. Hello Darnell. Your cards are beautiful. I wish I could get into a die cutting fugue. I usually get bored after 2 or 3. Attention span of a hamster. I suppose I will get over it. Does panic day come with a big button??? HUGZ
  13. I feel as if it is " Panic Day" nearly everyday lately. So funny that we have to panic and get over it simultaneously. 🤣 I totally love the card you made for Time Out. I can totally see your inspiration from Stef's gorgeous card. As for your 4 butterfly cards. Such a great idea to take a sketch that you like and change up the designs just enough to keep it interesting. Each one is as pretty as the last. Thanks for taking the time to join in the fun at Seize the Birthday. Hang in there my friend.
  16. Glad to know it's "panic" day. I panic most days, but then I usually "get over it." Love the cards. The first one is a real stunner! The others are so cheerful, and I love your idea of putting a butterfly in each one when you send it.
    I've been trying to use up some of my hoard of papers and other supplies, too. It's a battle to even make a tiny dent.
  17. Great first cards; those colours and the background are great! And the butterfly design is a beautiul one! Love the colours in them!.
    When crafting I can forget that elsewhere in the world rakets and drones are flying and wars are fought and started because some men want to have a say and are narcistic....
    Hope that there are enough people who think otherwise to stop them soon!
    Stay safe and keep spreading beautiful colors through the world to make it better...
    Hugs, Gerrina
  20. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous Darnell! I love that you maximized your crafty time by doing all the things (I like to as well). I love the way you framed the stencil with the sketch (I like the trimmed look better than my loosey goosey use of the TH stencil). Thank you for joining us at INk~
  22. Wowie, that is an utterly gorgeous flower cut from the patterned paper, and I'm picturing 22 of them! What a fabulous pile of loveliness! The gold throughout the card is spectacular and such a pretty embossed pattern. Add to that you have all those beautiful butterflies! You're using your papers and adding to your stash at the same time and that's okay because I know you'll send out every flower and butterfly you created. Wonderful!
  23. Patterned paper works beautifully for that die and for butterflies, Dolly! Sounds like you used quite a bit. Congratulations. Now you don't have to panic when you think of how much patterned paper you have! And you have a good supply of cards to boot. Win, win! XOXO
  36. Your bloom is absolutely radiant against that textured background, and the gold accents give it such an elegant lift. The whole design feels joyful and full of movement. The butterfly set is just as charming, each one with its own personality, and the plaid adds a playful structure that ties them together beautifully. A wonderful mix of inspiration, humor, and crafty momentum that brightened my morning.
