Hello Stamplings!
Surprise! I'm popping in on a Sunday because I have the great honor of being a Guest Designer for the current color challenge at Color Hues! As you'll see, I had a lot of fun with the colors, so grab a beverage and a snackidoodle!
There are so many wonderful options for designs using green and gold! I was brainstorming many of them with a dear friend and she suggested get well cards, in line with the saying, "You look green around the gills."
Next was deciding what to use to convey that message in an amusing way. It was hard choosing from the Critter Drawer, but Hammy pointed out that the "Doggy Kisses Set" from Art Impressions was still on Mt. NBUS ...
Doesn't this sad Basset Hound convey feeling low and sickly and green around the gills? You just want to hug him.💚I used my green Ziggies and Delicato metallic Golden Glitz reinker to paint him. You can't see it, but Hammy winked the green to match the schparkle of the gold. I used green and gold pp and a paws e/f for the background. The sediment is "Letter It" from Ranger.
Then another doggie caught my eye:
This poor guy looks very green around the gills, but something tells me he is not enjoying the get-well hug from the house cat ... even if the house cat is made out of gold! And here you can see the green schparkle from my little winker! These goofy characters are from "Picture Perfect" by My Favorite Things.
And to finish off the theme, I made one more from the Doggie Kisses set:
I apologize for the glossy green vomit, but I couldn't resist! (And here I went and suggested you get a snack. Oops.🤢) I used a stencil for the wallpaper and the NBUS sediment is from Waffle Flowers. It's my favorite get-well sediment ever! The little stuffed bear took a bit of creative fussy-cutting and coloring. I took him right out of the arms of another adorable dog in the set:
~~~
What will you choose to play along with the Color Hues challenge this week? Leaves, leprechauns, clovers, frogs, trees, apples, etc. ... the list is long! The very talented Design Team have made delightful cards to further inspire you, so pop over to the blog and check those out! I can't wait to see what you create with GREEN and GOLD!
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!

Beautiful and fun cards Darnell, I would not of thought of this color combo, it is fabulous and livens up the already cute designs!
ReplyDeleteVery creative and very awesome, Darnell!! Congrats on being a guest designer.
ReplyDeleteI also think the energy of green and gold is the perfect pair for boosting health. You hit the nail on the head. I love your funny cards; each one packs a punch of humor. And I'm incredibly impressed with how you managed to conjure up that sweet teddy bear in the last card.
ReplyDeletehugs,

Three darling cards to cheer someone under the weather, Darnell - congrats on being a guest designer at Color Hues!!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I hate to think of any dog sick, your cards are hilarious.
ReplyDeleteYour doggie cards are so cute Darnell. That poor Bassett Hound definitely looks sick. Love the embossed background with the paws. Three great cards. Congrats on guesting at Color Hues.
ReplyDeleteFabulous and fun who would have thought to use these in this way other than you .LOL I love the hound dog . Made me chuckle at your great creations ❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteDarnell what a nice surprise it was for us that you could guest design with us this challenge. Your sweet Bassett Hound looks great in the challenge colours coloured with Zigs. The patterned paper you chose is the perfect backdrop for this cutie pie. Also good on you making three doggie themed cards, you are inspiring me!
ReplyDeleteYour Get Well cards are awesome! Of the three, I have to say the 3rd is a fave, just because of the fun wallpaper and great sentiment. I'm not sure it conveys positive from the outside, except that laughter is good medicine, right?! Congrats on your GD gig -- have fun!
ReplyDeleteYay, you! Congrats on guesting, Darnell. Your cards are all heaps of fun!
ReplyDeleteLaughter is the best medicine and your trio of entertaining pooches are bound to bring a chuckle or two! It looks like you and the boys had a ball with these colors! I'm so glad to have you Guest Designing with us this time, my friend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to use green for get well cards! And to keep them humourous! I love the first one - that dog made me smile because of his green and gold colouring - definitely green around more than the gills, and such a sad expression, poor thing! The second dog looks quite annoyed having the cheerful cat hugging him when he feels so rotten! And really, glossy green vomit!!! Congratulations on being the Color Hues Guest Designer - I'm going to be my usual boring self and use green and gold for a Christmas card (if I ever get off the couch and into the craft room!).
ReplyDeleteClever, funny cards. They will make anyone feel better. They made me feel better, and I'm not even sick!
ReplyDeleteLove these! You are so funny and clever, the way you cut and adapted the teddy bear is a triumph! xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh lots of fun and colourful cards Darnell they are amazing xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your guest appearance xx

ReplyDeleteOMGoodness! So many wonderful doggy cards! Love the get well theme and the 'green around the gills' look. Poor things lol Congrats on your GD, what FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the guest designer spot! You threw yourself into the theme, that is for sure. I'm sure they will make the recipients feel better because laughter is the best medicine!
ReplyDeleteA whole post brimming with humour and ingenuity - love the way your brain ticks over 🤣. Brilliant choice of doggy stamps and great work with the colours. Congratulations on being chosen as guest designer
ReplyDeleteHello Darnell! Talk about putting a creative spin on green and gold, with not one, but three dog-themed/feel better cards. I agree: the basset definitely needs a few hugs to set him into recovery mode. Your other two cards definitely made me smile!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful to have you as our guest designer; as always, you inspire and delight!
hugs~c
You are a hoot and a half, Darnell, and your cards show it. They are such a fun take on the colors and expression. And you managed to make three of them. Who could pick a favorite?!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute, Darnell! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThese will bring cheer to anyone who is feeling poorly. That green tongue just cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteThe Bassett Hound wins my vote, ears down, D!! But each card is a surefire way to make someone forget they're sick for a minute or five!
ReplyDelete=]
Awww, poor doggies, but any one of these cards would perk up the human who receives it! What a fun idea! Congrats on your guest spot, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteWOW...love that you made a threefer for us here at Color Hues Darnell...thank you, thank you!! They are all awesome, but the last one totally had me snorting with the green sparkly tongue...I'm still wiping the tears away my friend! Seriously though, thanks so much for guesting with us and sharing your 3 fabulous green & gold cards...love them all!! Marlinda (DT) :0)
ReplyDeleteDarnell, it is so wonderful to have you guest designing with us! All three cards are fun and you know they will bring a smile to the recipient's face. I really adore the Basset Hound, he is such a sad sack and the green just adds to the whole notion of not feeling well. So cute and clever. Thank you for sharing your wonderful humor! ❤️
ReplyDeleteIt is such a pleasure to have you guesting with us for this challenge, Darnell. We can always rely on you to be creative with your cards, but these are just fantastic and a hoot to boot. The green tongue on the last one made me laugh out loud. Thanks for being with us and for all the inspiration, you went above and beyond.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being the GD, Darnell! Very creative to use the "green around the gills" theme! I'd have to say the first card with that darling Basset Hound is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThere's no good excuse, but it's taken me two days to get here, but it was worth the wait. I never fail to get a chuckle reading your blog posts, but today I got a good laugh! Those "green around the gills" pups are just fabulous! It's so much fun to come here, and it's so great to have you as our Guest Designer!
