Seasonal Wishes

Hello Sweet Stamplings!

Isn't it a beautiful Monday, so fresh and unblemished? Seems like ages since I posted on a Monday and said those words, but I had to slip in today to play in a coupla three challenges before it's too late.

In my last post I segwayed from summer to fall and today I'm fast-forwarding straight into winter. I know that's not how you spell segue, but it's how I spell it because to me segue seems like it would be pronounced like league.

Anywiddle, listen, if I don't start making some Christmas cards, I'll be sending out blank white cards with a note inside! Eeks!

So here you go.
These cute glittery candy canes have been in my stash for ages. You can't tell from the photo, but they are actually flattened so the card can be mailed without too much difficulty. The Zig Zag border die is from Lawn Fawn and the NBUS sediment is from MFT.

Challenges

~~~ and another:
This NBUS "Candy Cane Gift" die is from Poppystamps. They were cut from some old glossy cream-colored card stock, held down by a single brad. The one on the left is an upside down version of the one on the right. The metallic elements are ancient from SU.
These cards both came about because of the brief from Less Is More, which is to "use a real object" on your cards. Well, geez Louise, that opened up a drawer of ancient relics from the last century that hadn't seen the light of day in a long time! So many cute things I have! Why have we forgotten about them? Now we just want to play with everything in there!
Challenges
~~~

And now, just to keep you on your toes, lets reverse gears all the way back to springtime for all my friends down under!
When I saw the sweet metallic leaf, I immediately thought of a couple of other challenges. The little doodled flower is NBUS from MFT, which I painted on a creamy card in the pink, yellow, and green colors of the photo inspiration from Just Us Girls. I loaded my paint brush and splattered the background in the same pink and yellow colors. The sweet sediment doesn't list a company on the side, but this is printed: "©1992 Annette Allen Watkins."

Here's a closeup of the pretty metal leaf:

Great candy cane cards and the floral one is pretty - I reckon we must all have loads of usable little items which have been lurking for years just waiting to be shown the light of day. Can be quite exciting rediscovering them!!

Three lovely cards, beautifully designed. You could stick out your tonguie and lick those candy canes! I really love the way you've placed that metal leaf, and all the splatters look great. Thank you for joining us at Inkspirational Challenges.

Oh gosh! Love those ancient relics. It's why we keep all this stuff. It has been a glorious weekend but I got a start on my Christmas cards a little so I don't feel too under pressure. I love that old sentiment. It's 25 years old which is quite a scary thought! It's a Bank Holiday here in the U.K. so we are off to do some nice family stuff! Xx

Wonderful cards, Darnell! I especially love the clean, neat look of your first card, those candy canes look so yummy! Your flower card looks very cute and artsy, adding the splatters gave lots of detail and what a fun idea to use that metallic leaf! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More and Inspirational!

I've made this year a lot of Christmas cards, but not the single one for myself. I have to start immediately like you did. :-)
Both of cany cane cards are fantastic. CAS and cute. :-) As I like it too.
Also your third card is fabulous. Wonderful idea of using golden leaf. :-)
Have a nice week!

One day I'm going to sort the whole lot... Well, no, I tend to do things little by little and take years...That's me! Have a spectacular day mwah!

Like you, if I don't get a wiggle on, I will be sending out blank cards too - I wonder if I could get away with calling them CAS cards - lol! Hope you are having a good Monday! Hugs, Annie xxx

Those candy canes on the first card look so real I can taste them. I love the bright contrast on the second card and love that leaf on the last card. Three great, fun cards. I've been going through my stash for something for Less is More. What I want to use is so big I'm not sure it will work but may try anyway.

Darnell, you're such a hoot to visit. Love the cards you've posted for all the challenges but the 3-D candy canes for the Watercooler is such a fun card. Thanks for digging through the relics and participating in our challenge. Great cards.

Three lovely cards Darnell ! I especially love the one you made for our challenge ! At first sight I thought they were real candy canes (it would have been simpler to stick them on the card, just a simple lick and that's it !). It's a great take on our challenge and I love the fabulous CAS look of it ! Thanks so much for sharing and for playing along at Less is More !

Awww what a lovely selection of cards and those candi canes are amazing really 3d effect is one of my favourites and to think they can be flattened while posted so talented you are as always Darnell sending lots of love x

Well you certainly have been working from your stash...all those little elements that we immediately forget about when there comes a new release. I've got a ton, too. There is something about a card with candy canes that just delights me...probably because it's food. But both of these are so festive & fun...charming.
Thinking of the folks down under is such a sweeet thing to do...I often forget that their season's are the reverse of ours. Can't imagine being in a bikini for summer Christmas, can you? (Or any time, for that matter.) That little leaf makes your "bud" card very special.

Sharon Traynor Designs said...

Oh My! I knew I was in for a treat when I saw your card in our gallery Darnell, and you certainly haven't disappointed. Those squashed candy canes are perfect! (a squashed candy cane tastes nicer than a rounded one, doesn't it? more loved, eh?). All 3 cards are super designs and that little leaf is so pretty too. Love the spring card for the people down under - it's brilliant. Thanks so much for popping those squished candy canes into us at Less is More though xx

Leslie Miller said...

Oh, that NBUS... so much of it and, yes, why don't we use it up? Because we have too much of it, that's why! But I love it all! Your candy canes look very dimensional, probably because of all that beautiful sunshine in the photo. Both candy cane cards are so cute. I do think candy canes make the cheeriest Christmas cards. So why don't I have candy cane stamps? Hmmmm... I also love the look of doodled flowers, or doodled anything. Pretty metallic leaf and nice sentiment!

Hi there!

What fabulous cards you have made. I feel so lazy now, in comparison...

The two Christmas cards have a special place in my heart (due to my last name.
I always try to include Candy Canes in my Christmas decorating. This year the girls want to make some that have burlap/hessian strips wrapped round them. Perfect for the porch garlands and wreath.
Your Spring card is so pretty as well. Love that sweet leaf charm.

Thanks for taking part in the August Rudolph Days Challenge.

Three wonderful cards Darnell, and the candy canes are gorgeous, especially the first as I particularly love the red with the green on that gorgeous red card and what a great matching sentiment, and then the sweet die cut ones with the cream metal sentiment frame, and what a beautifully bright red. The sweet single flower is complemented so prettily by that metallic leaf and another sentiment which goes perfectly. All the embellishments are fabulous. x

Those candy canes look good enough to eat, Darnell. The first ones, not the second. ;) We do have drawers full of stuff don't we. I cleaned one of mine out a while ago and got rid of all the stickers I used to use on my cards. Now I need to clean out my leftover drawer. My style has changed over the years and I'll never use some of that stuff.

So now I am behind!!!! I have been making use of precoloured images from a previous colouring challenge which helps a lot. I could have sworn your candy canes were 3D they really don't look flat at all. And the die cut canes are very sweet. Hugs, Lisa xx

The candy canes on your first card looked so real that I took a big bite out of my computer screen before I realized they weren't. Oh so disappointing...
Clever you to attach those intricate candy cane dies with a single brad, skipping all the teeny weeny gluing and cursing. Looks like you got a head start on your Christmas cards already, which is always a good thing.
