Happy Tweezeday!
I made a masculine card per the code word at the fun Addicted to CAS (ATCAS) challenge. (BTW, I'd like to thank ATCAS for picking my card as a Top Three last week!!)
I used the sketch designed by the talented Karolyn Loncon for the current CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.
And I added silver which is the "Hi Ho Silver" theme at this week's CAS-ual Fridays (CFC91) challenge.
And I made this birthday card:
I just want to say, up front, that I know this is an outdated "man" card. To avoid any imp priority, we use the term "vintage" when we make such cards. The images on my card are strips of washi tape, "vintage" washi tape.
My card could certainly be sent to a female. But this "vintage" grandmother still vividly remembers when all her bosses were men, with briefcases and telephones just like that.
Now, however, I'm so old that, well that:
Oh, sorry, somehow the bottom of this old sign got cut off. I'm sure you know, of course, that it reads, "Mr. Anderson." I wonder what the story is with that guy?
~~~
So naughty. Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy your
day. LITS*!
Thank you so much for stopping by the
Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment or
Ah, I'm sorry that you probably missed the deadline for CTS - this is really fun! I love the embossed card base and the use of real office tools! As for Mr Anderson, he must get a lot of kisses! lol!
Hey Darnell a BIG congratulation on coming in the top three CAS challenge! Wow, I am so in awe of your beautiful work! Today, I had to double blink when I saw your card, and I say that with a smile, you will have to check my blog to know what that means...LOL. Just back from vacation, and after 3000 miles of driving, home now and resting. Will be in touch again soon! Hugs. Oh Blog will be up in about an hour.
Perfect "manly" card. Love that washi tape and the embossing. BTW, I said something really close to what your lovely lady is saying--minus the Mr. Anderson, to DH earlier. And while I might have said it nicer, I certainly didn't look nearly as good! You made me LOL with that. Great card. Bev
Hi Darnell, check my blog for today, I think we used the same embossing folder for our cards!
Perfect guy card, love that washi tape. Oh the days of briefcases as apposed to wheelie laptop bags lol. Hugs, Amanda x
What a great embossing folder and a fab idea of using paperclips to create the 'silver'. Love it :) x
Congratulations Darnell...you are a winner. Love this masculine card. Mr. Anderson....right!
This is fabulous Darnell, I love the embossing and the way you have added the paper clips looks brilliant.
sue xx
Ohhhh, lucky Mr Anderson!!! Great masculine card and fab layout. Congratulations on being in our top 3 for the last challenge - so well deserved Dippy. Thanks so much for joining in our masculine challenge at A2CAS.
Hugs.
Just a perfect manly card Darnell,i have that embossing folder and always forget to use it! I think the colours and the images are just fabulous.
Great card...This "Vintage" grandmother certainly remembers using a phone like that. I even remember my telephone number from way back then...It only had four digits. If you can believe that!
fantastic combination of all three challenges, darnell... a great "manly" card! i love how you used the paperclips as your silver element!
Hi Darnell, well done on the TOP 3!! Well done too for combining the challenges and creating such a great 'vintage' card, love that washi tape, love your great card, looks like another winner to me.....Hugs, Annie xx
Love the vintage theme you have going here! Yep, dial phones, brief cases, coffee & newspaper waiting on the desk, smoking in the office...all of it!
Brilliant idea to use the paper clips for the Hi Ho challenge. I love the splash of red - nice touch.
Three cheers for Sweet Lips!!!
Oooops.... forgot to say a BIG HOOT HOOT to you for your shout out from ATCAS - those cherries are just too sweet to go unnoticed :)
Congrats on your ATCAS win last week! Well deserved!
This is such a great card with that old telephone! I wish I had one of those old phones today - they actually WORKED! (in spite of the party lines and one-on-one with a live operator!) Great take on all the challenges!
I remember the brief cases and rotary phones too! Great card for a guy or a gal, but I would send it to a guy!
Mr. Anderson is a lucky guy ... getting all those kisses!!
Great card ... and fabulous "vintage" washi tape. Yep, I remember phones that had dials ... and the old fashioned briefcases. Guess that means I'm vintage too :(
Great card, love the colors, love the texture from the embossing. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to CAS! Lolly xx
PS .. My Hello Doily card was meant for you ... I just made a typo :0
Totally fun card, Darnell! I just LOVE how you used those paperclips :)
What a cool card!!
Fabulous card Darnell, I love those paper clips that you added, so fun.
Oh Just got my chuckle for the day with your post! I had no trouble deciphering the cutoff portion of your vintage picture lady. (ask me how I knew? No, best not! My bosses were men too. Not always the best to have either...but I had some good ones too!). Loved your card. I'm not p.c. most times (although I try to be if I might get called on it!). Living in the south, you hear a lot of old fashioned terms...Your card could be masculine, BUT a working lady would appreciate it too. Good use of color, and I've not seen that washi pattern. I've bought some, yet to use it (like so much of my stuff!) Hugs & TFS
What a great masculine card! My husband still carries big files of papers and a briefcase, so I guess he's a bit "vintage", too (oh golly, I hope he never finds out I said that!). Congrats on top three...you deserve it!!
I really like this card! The paper clips are a clever way to add your silver lining for the CAS-ual Fridays challenge :) it's a shame not many people walk around with briefcases like that anymore, they all looked so smart.
I think I need that Mr Anderson poster in my house, right by my front door! Te he! :)
Great card, Darnell. I love the embossing folder! Thanks so much for playing along at ATCAS! xx
Hahaha ... too bad on that sign. I don't think I've ever used a paperclip (like a regular one!) on a card before. Love it!!
I don't think Mrs Anderson will be too impressed! LOL!!!
Perfectly manly ... the dishy, briefcase carrying type. Love that gorgeous telephone and the paper clips are inspired for the touch of silver! Anita :)
Ok, Darnell...LOVE the creative use of silver...never would have thought of paperclips!!! So cool...what a wonderful birthday card!! So happy that you join the challenges at CAS-ual Fridays and share your creativity with us, Darnell:)!! Hugs!!
Fanastic the embossed effect and those paperclips !
Congratulations in getting top three at ATCAS your card was sensational ! I love this one Vintage you say !!!! Love the "manly " briefcase and paperclips and the embossing is such a fantastic combination. Totally agree with the caption on the bottom photo I do wish though I would have done this at a younger age. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for another super entry at ATCAS
Marie
