Dies Through the Seasons

Hello Stamplings!

I hope this finds you well! Well in health, well in spirits, and well in creativity!

This week the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar is D = Dies/Die Cuts (which can also be fussy-cuts). Dies are having a heyday right now and I got so charged up, I did a threefer. Sorry, I didn't mean that to sound naughty.

Onefer
For this card, I was inspired by the photo at the
Inspired By Challenge
~ specifically the frame and the colors of the leafy spray on the mantle.

I found papers in my stash that have a lightly embossed feel, so I used a creamy one for my background here. I used a woodgrain paper to cut my stitched rectangle frame. The vases are dies from Paper Smooches. The stems are a combination of dies from SU and MFT. The sediment is from Gina K's, "A Little Love."

I'm also adding my card to
Cut It Up, where the brief is to add a sentiment and to Snippets Playground, where the brief is to use your scrappy snippets.

Twofer
Here is another piece of the pretty paper I found ~ this time in a beige color. Nothing original about this design, but I can't remember ever doing it before and I love the simplicity of the scene.

Looking at it on my monitor now, the lads and I are karacking up because it looks like we tossed a coupla dog turds on the grass beside the pile of leaves!πŸ˜‚It's okay because the recipient is a dog-loving friend with a fall birthday and a wonderful sense of humor!

Challenges
Cardz 4 Galz: Create a scene.
Krafty Chicks: Birthday.
Threefer
And, thirdly, the challenge at Color Hues schparked another Christmas card for the stash. The poinsettia is an old beauty from Waltzingmouse, colored with my Ziggies in all pinks, even though it came out a bit rusty rose in the photo. Hammy and Stanley were thrilled to have a big field upon which to use their new winkers and when they were finished, I fussy cut it.

The gray background paper was decorated with a Dotted Scallops cover plate die from Pinkfresh Studio and gold bling and a simple sediment finished it off.

Other Challenges
The Flower Challenge: Add embellishments.
The Holly and Ivy Christmas: Anything Christmas goes.
Just Us Girls: Die Cuts - Florals.

πŸ’I don't say it often enough ... Thank you very much to all the card challenges out there who provide us with endless inspiration and challenge us creatively!πŸ‘

  1. Three wonderful cards, Darnell. Your comment about the dog turds on your second card made me smile. Every time I look at it now, I can’t unsee it!

  3. Three gorgeous cards Darnell and with some great dies. The foliage filled vases are perfect and love the use of the textural papers, and the blue matching sentiment in that very elegant font, and then the fallen autumn leaves in such a variety of colours..not to mention the suspect two in the foreground..lol, and then lastly the bright and pretty pink poinsettia winked beautifully, and with that contrasting deep grey background done with a terrific Dotted Scallop cover plate die, and the added gold enamel dots and gold embossed sentiment are great finishing touches. x

  4. I'm loving all the texture of the first card, Dolly! Those little vases and the leafy stems and eucalyptus are lovely framed! A great card for a guy or a gal. The second card is a reminder that soon the leaves will be colorful and falling. Better get the rake handy. I'm loving that schparkly poinsettia on the pierced gray background! The little gems in the center and on the side give it a super elegant air! Thanks for the inspiration and ditto for the appreciation for challenges and those that present them!

  7. I love all three. I especially liked the second one, and giggled when I saw your comment about the three leaves that missed the pile--would never have occurred to me. The pink poinsettia (always a favorite IRL) looks beautiful against the dark gray background. Thanks for sharing with us at Color Hues!

  10. Three amazing cards, my friend. LOVE the texture and the beauty of each. You nailed it with the inspiration photo from Inspired by ... Your garden with the neutral backdrop and texture is so beautiful. Love the colours of autumn and your pile of leaves is so beautiful ... even though it's so much work to rake them up. :) Glad you didn't include the poop in your pile as that would be a shock for anyone that likes to jump into a pile of leaves ... Mister??!! :) Your poinsettia is gorgoeus. Great colouring and love the beautiful design of the scalloped domed background. Gorgeous cards! So happy to be playing along with IDEAS - Die week. Thanks for that! And also joining NBUS again! :) Love you, Lolly

  18. Your three cards are awesome and special, each with its own beauty. The texture on card #1 is amazing. Card #2? Well who wouldn't love a thrown turd?! No, really, I love the pretty fall scene. And who doesn't love a poinsettia? She's a beauty, and I love all the different pinks, whether just in density or colors, they're amazing. And thank YOU, for your wonderful challenges too!

  20. Beautiful cards! Great use of die cuts on all of them. I'm really not ready to think about leaves turning and falling off the trees, but nonetheless, your pile of leaves is so pretty! And your poinsettia is gorgeous - I'd never have thought of putting it on that grey background but it sure looks good!

  25. I love everything about the first card. The vases look great with their foliage and framed so beautifully. A stunning poinsettia against that embossed paper. The dog turds didn't faze me as that is normal here. They would, however, keep me from jumping in that autumn pile of leaves.

  29. Darnell you and the boys have been very busy - these are beautiful creations [dog doo doos excepted ;)] What caught my eye on that card is that the lower part of the branch looks like fingers that have just released the final leaf...
Loving your gorgeous background in the Christmas card - so elegant, and I am sure the boy shad a ball with the large area to wink.
    The top card is exquisite.
