You Color My World!

Hello Stamplings!

I saw this quote on Instagram:

I told my friend that I'm emotionally "hitting a wall"
and she said, "Sometimes walls are there
so we can lean on them and rest."

So true. Also sometimes walls are there to hang up awesome art work created by family and friends ~ and us! I hope you're finding ways to rest when you're weary and create when you're not.

Onefer
A lot of different companies came out of the vault to play when I created this fun card. The ruler, sediment, and pencil are all from "Worm Wishes," by Reverse Confetti. The easel is from "When Your Heart Speaks," by Taylored Expressions. The paint brush is from "I Heart Art," by Paper Smooches.

The coloring was done with my Ziggies and Hammy added the splat and the winking, which is barely noticeable in the photo, but abundant in real life.

Challenges

Twofer
The images and sediment are from "Holiday Glass," by Avery Elle, embossed in liquid platinum, Ziggified, and winked. QACAS!

I'm joining with a lot of you and getting a start on my Christmas cards. I mean for time's sake, can you believe we are only a coupla days from starting February already?! Everything lined up perfickly in my large MISTI, so I made a batch while I was a tit.

(Snigger. We've all seen those examples of how important commas are. Looks like spacing matters, too!)

Challenges
Amaryllis
The kids got me a beautiful waxed amaryllis bulb for Christmas. I put it on the floor of the Playhouse to capture a photo of all four blooms from the top and while I was busy looking through the camera lens, Nellie hopped down from her divan, walked over, and licked up some pollen! Eek. Thankfully, it was harmless. It is fascinating how all the water and nutrients it needs to bloom are locked up inside the wax coating!

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!* Keep safe!
I am relieved that the Mister and I have received our first vaccines and I hope it has happened (or will happen soon) for you, too. The peoples of the world are being mentally and physically challenged ~ and sadly dying ~ every day that this pandemic continues, so we are very thankful to all the scientists and technicians who have worked very hard round-the-clock to make the vaccines in record time. Now our thanks go to all those working hard to produce billions of those little vials and to all those administering the vaccines. Bless you!❤💋
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
  1. You said it, Darnell. Its so necessary to just let it go and rest but so difficult to do! But your card is really easy to praise! :D Love the look of artwork - wonder if it was created with the pencil or the brush! :P And I love the way the simple colors and embossing make the second card shine so much!
  4. Two gorgeous cards and a gorgeous Nellie, as always. We always call Amaryllis "Emma Willis" because our daughter Emma loves them and used to get one every Christmas. Now she's married the name pun doesn't work any more.
  7. I saw that quote too and thought how clever, I will have to remember it, but of course I won't! Love both cards especially how you have coloured them. I gave one of those waxed amaryllis bulbs to someone for Christmas, I thought how clever it was, so it is lovely to see one in bloom. So glad you have had your jab already, it is good to hear examples of the vaccine roll out going well xx
    Glad someone stuck the pointy thing in you - current calculations here mean first one is going to be April for me and himself with the second in July - nothing else for it, I will just have to stay in and keep clicking on the 'add to cart' button! xx
  9. Your creativity and coloring skills blow me away. I love these cards. Getting a jump on Christmas cards is on my list. My husband is getting his first vaccine today and I'm trying to get an appointment. I agree 100% with your kind words for all the people who have made the vaccines and are getting them in our arms. Enjoy your day!
  12. Lovely cards, Darnell. The Christmas one is especially pretty! I can well imagine how sparkly the first one is, too. Lucky you to capture Nellie's curiosity. Giggled at your grammar comments. hee, hee. So happy for you and the Mister to have gotten your first vaccine shot. My daughter (CNA-works in assisted living) is due for her second in another week or so. My husband was told he is an essential worker and can get his now. My other daughter and I will have to wait a while. We allstay at home most of the time. I rather like the slower pace, but I miss seeing friends. Happy weekend to you, my friend. :)
  13. Beautiful cards darnell, love the first one with the fun stamps and clever ombre colouring, the Christmas card is gorgeous and a great start to this year's stash- good idea to start early while we're still locked down and have time on our hands, hopefully later in the year we'll be too busy catching up with friends and family when it's safe to do so!
    The amaryllis is stunning, never seen a waxed one before, what a lovely gift.
    Glad you've had your jab, hoping to get mine before too long.
  14. What a very clever way to use the sketch, Darnell! Fabulous card. And your second card is so pretty. I love that you only colored parts of the image. I don't think I would have thought to do that. I'll have to remember that. Your waxed amaryllis is awesome. I haven't ever seen that before. And I'm so glad you and the mister have had your first shots. Some of our friends have gotten theirs, but we haven't been notified yet. Hopefully we'll get them before TOO long!
  32. Lucky you, getting your first vaccine already. I'm looking at late March / April for my first. Your amaryllis is beautiful - can't believe it grows from just being coated in wax!
    Two great cards, especially the Christmas one - love those three "stained glass" stamps - perfect for a tall narrow card. Love the soft colours you used.
  36. Love your artsy card, Dolly! Walls are great for resting and creating art is definitely the best pastime! Love the Christmas card with those pretty stained glass squares! Great idea to get several done while you're a tit! I wish I'd though to get a picture of my amaryllis from the top. It's ending up another smaller stalk now. I got a twofer!
  39. Yay! So happy to read that you and DH have received your first vaccines. I am still awaiting mine (hubs has had his), but I know that I will get my chance soon enough. I just need to be careful until then. Your cards are wonderful. Love the paint splat one. Sometimes I wonder what I would do without my creative outlet during this time. Your Christmas card is lovely, too. I can understand why you did an entire batch of them. I really need to get moving on my Christmas cards. I've made less than 10 for 2021.
  40. so happy the two of you are now vaccinated, I hope the second is on time XX
    Great selection of cards an wow that Amaryllis loos beautiful.
  41. Hurrah for the vaccine! We've got fingers crossed our state will let us sign up in a couple weeks as planned, but it's dependent on the vaccine getting here & that's certainly not a given at this point. The first card is really fun, but you know me & Christmas cards! Oh how I love your beautiful stained glass card, Darnell!
  42. What a fun little arty scene with your first fabulous card.
    What a fresh and pretty Christmas card, with beautiful stamping, colouring and design layout x.
    I always have red amaryllis in the house at Christmas....a bouquet of them from DH and I love them x. Nellie Cleary likes them too...
    So glad you have both received the vaccine...we won't be far behind our end x.
    Thinking of you and hope you are taking it easy when you can? x
  43. Beautiful cards Darnell, I love the first one and the way the background looks like a ruled notebook. The Christmas card is delightful, I just love the colours!
    So pleased you have both had your vaccinations, we have thankfully both had our first one and have dates for the 'top up' one. Keep safe and well and look after that back... Hugs, Annie xxx
  45. The ombre blues are so pretty and a great artistic design. Whoa, the slim line card is gorgeous. Great water coloring and shading. Yep, comma's and spacing do matter! Your amaryllis has outdone itself. The blooms are beautiful. I wish more flowers had a self watering base. I'm not good with flowers and once killed a plastic plant by putting it on a radiator and it melted.
  46. You've made a very clever combination of stamps for your first card! They all look like they came from the same set and I absolutely love it! And then you made me swoon with your QACAS Christmas card. I'll take your word for how QACAS it was 'cause it's so beautiful! I'm glad for you that you've gotten started on your vaccine. It looks like it will be a while yet for Rich and I here in Oregon, especially our county. I LOVE your photo with Nellie and the amaryllis! She made it all the better. I hope you're continuing to heal and feel better. Hugs!
  47. Walls are also great for keeping the warmth in Darnell! What a lovely arty card. Slightly concerned that your world is coloured blue but things definitely sound as if they're going well in your neck of the woods so I expect it'll turn into a rainbow quite soon ;) Love that stained glass set too and it's perfect for a slimline card. LOL at spacing! And I melted to see Nellie checking the amaryllis out in case it should be concealing a snack! Mwah! Vicky x
    With the various images done that way all in a row, it has a stunning appeal.
    I must say though, your first card stole the show for me. I must try something similar for Al's Valentine's card this year.
    Thanks for taking part in the first Rudolph Days Challenge this year!
  55. Oh Darnell what fabulous cards - both of them. Friends are like walls too - sometimes you just need to know they are there, other times you need to lean on them.
    yes, spacing is pretty essential, isn' tit ;)
    We won't be getting our vaccines for a while yet, but with the way things are here with minimal community cases (three in 10 weeks, and all traced back to the source in Managed Isolation) I am not worried
    Stay safe
  59. I love your first arty scene Darnell, both in the literal and the artistic sense..if you see what I mean..lol, and love the blue tones you have used. I was confused by the 'worm' reference until I took a look at the RC set and realised that it wasn't a spelling mistake and there is a sweet little worm in there..lol. The Christmas offering is very pretty too with the three different images and the platinum embossing really shows off the three little squares, beautifully coloured. I have never seen an amaryllis bulb just encased in wax and growing beautifully like that, and Nellie was quite taken with it too I think, and how great to hear you have had your first vaccination jabs..hubby has just had his too, but as I am an age bracket younger I am still waiting, but soon I hope. x
  60. As always my friend, you surpassed yourself, and met yourself coming back! Ooopsie, no mentioning of backs perleeease! I adore the first card and am in lurve with the second - can I play around with two cards at once keeping them secret from one another? Bit like life for some folk really, sigh. Dudley is in lurve with Julie our Post Lady, Poppy a Havanese on Instagram - and of course sweet Nellie! I have my first vaccination booked for one week tomorrow! Yay!
