Hello Stamplings!
I hope you had a lovely weekend! I was very productive in the Card Department because it was way too hot to be outside. That's normal for this time of year, so we just carry on, naked.
Oh, sorry, you did not need that visual!
This week is D = Die Cuts on the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar and I went to town. I had to stop there and look up the origin of "went to town" because I can't stand not knowing where these idioms come from.
Plus, I like to know if what I imagine the origin to be matches, in any way, the truth. I think of the early settlors and how they had to "go to town" if they wanted anything store-bought. Or Reba McEntire singing about Ruby going to town. I love that sad earworm song.

Turns out there is no explicit origin for this idiom, but it is thought to be early American English. Boo. I built you up and then I let you down. But, wait, that could be the start of a country song!
Where was I?
Oh, yes. You might remember that I recently cut a bunch of "Rainbow Daisies" from Pinkfresh Washi tape and made some cards with the wreath image cut. For this post, I'm sharing what I did with the rest of all those pretty floral die cuts:

These simple designs are self-explanatory and super EZPZ which is the awesome thing about the beautiful Washi tape designs made by Pinkfresh and other companies.

For these cards, I added The Greetery's "Pretty Pot" die and the "Garden Watering Can" die from Memory Box. It took a long minute, but it felt good to actually use up those die-cuts. (You can tell as the process wore on that I added more and more flowers to each card, lol!) It also felt good to use up BOBs and pp and now I have more cards ready to send!

They worked very hard and they're bezausted. All they could muster was schplattering one of the card panels, but I'm fine with that. They deserve to be relaxing in their cooling pool, slurping their Burpees!

Wish my garden was awash with colour like those cards Darnell, sadly the heat and lack of water is bleaching all the colour and curbing the flowers. :)

ReplyDeleteI had no idea that such beautiful washi tape existed - these floral bouquets are indeed rainbows of prettiness and I love how you arranged them all so nicely in the various containers. Brilliant cards. I just might be heading off in search of said washi tape 😉and presumably some matching dies.

ReplyDeleteWow! You really did go to town, and I love that collection of flowers in the different containers. Over the weekend, I was hunting for something and came across the dies for several of the Pinkfresh Washi suites. It's been at least a year since I've used any of them, so once I fulfill my goal of using 31 items from the NBUS box in July, I think I'll head to the Washi tape. You've given me plenty of inspiration!

ReplyDeleteThose floral cards look downright amazing! Hmmmm...why do we say "downright?" Why not "downleft?" Guess I have to pull out my books. I keep two books by my recliner: one about the origins of slang and the other about the origins of idioms. I love knowing where commonly-used phrases come from, too. One of my favorites from across the pond is, "Oh my giddy aunt!" I actually had a booking agent say that to me once when I was trying to reserve a VRBO in Ireland.

But my favourite is your feature card - just love the curve of flowers around the sentiment and the great textured background.
