2024 Holiday

June 9, 2025

Best. Day. Ever.

Hello Stamplings!

Welcome to the show! I hope you had a good week! I've been alternating between card-making and spring-summer-cleaning, both of which give me joy. I'm weird that way. I've killed a lot of dust bunnies in my day, but I still haven't solved the mystery of how the junk drawer gets messy in only five minutes!

This is week two of the June I.D.E.A.S. Calendar which means D = Dies.

I broke out my NBUS Postage Collage Cover die from SSS for this design, using the cute playing card images from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. The sediment is from another oldie-but-goodie: Taylored Expressions "Pawsome" set. My red ink pad needs reinking, but I can't find the reinker, nor, it turns out, the dark green reinker. Smart little Hammy wondered if I put the bottles with my Christmas schtuff~but no. (I can hear you shouting, check the junk drawer!😂)

Challenges:

Cut It Up: Anything goes.
NBUSFYI, there's a celebration this month!

One could say this design is from the Playhouse "junk drawer," otherwise known as BOB. BOB contains beloved bits I love too much to discard. And when those bits come together as if by magic, it's a thing to behold.🪄

I wanted to use the base panel pp which was left over from a recent make. The lads and I had a rumble with BOB and every snippet we needed was right there, from the schparkly plum paper to the bold sediment to the pretty leafy branch I cut a coupla years ago from a die owned by my friend Bev.

Challenges:

Just Us Girls: Die week ~ layers.
Snippets Playground: Anything goes with snippets and bits.

This is a napkin my sister Diana sent me. It's so funny in a few ways, but I kracked up at the hairdos! These ladies are not getting their hairdos wet, so they don't need to worry about drowning!🌊

  2. Sounds as though the 'boys' were on the right track with their suggestion to try the Christmas draw - pity the reinkers are still in hiding. They (the boys) really are an asset to your crafting, Darnell.
Your cards are so very different, and both are adorable
The serviette is priceless - I think I am of an age now where swimming would be more dangerous - not that I think my hairdo is anything priceless, but the sentiment could well be correct, I'm sure...

  6. Your postage stamp card is perfect for a guy or gal who likes to play cards! I hope you find your re-inkers. Once again BOB yields a perfect combination of bits and pieces! Love that napkin. I think they're in too deep. The next wave is going to wipe out those hairdos! Mwah!

  9. Darnell, as always your post has put a smile on my face! And that napkin, oh my goodness that's funny! I always enjoy visiting your site. Hope to get a die cut card up real soon. It's amazing how quickly the weeks go by. How can it be Monday again already! :)

  10. Your napkin image gave me my first laugh of the day! BOB is a new one for me. I don't have junk drawer per se, but I certainly have many beloved bits, all stored in clear envelopes. It sounds like it's an organized system, but really there are so many envelopes, sometimes it's hard to justify the time to go through them. I love the postage card--my fave color combo: red, black and white, and the background on card 2 is just beautiful! Have a great week!

  11. Great cards, Darnell! I love playing cards, so I especially love the first one. :-) Isn't it awesome when card parts come together to make a fabulous card? Funny napkin, too! Thanks for sharing.

  12. I do love your posts and your honesty and humour. Great cards too. Hope you find those re-inkers. I have recently bought a case for mine from Amazon, It is meant for essential oils but it holds re-inkers brilliantly and it has slots for over 100. I did enjoy sorting them out and working out a system so I can find the colour I am looking for easily. Very satisfying xx

  13. Two terrific makes, Darnell! Growing up in a family of card players makes the first one even more fun! So happy to see your sparkly layered gem in our gallery over at JUGs. Thanks for joining us this week!

  14. This postage card is wonderful. A great cover die and perfect card for someone who plays cards instead of making them. I hope you find your reinkers. The BOB card sparkles and is so pretty. What a fun napkin and probably true. I would have to blow the whistle to get his attention!

  15. Great card using the postage die and playing card motifs. But even more fabulous card with the bits from the BOB drawer - I love it when a bunch of bits come together like that and look absolutely perfect!

  16. I love the postage stamp edge of the rectangles, and the added four card suit designs work brilliantly and a lovely sentiment too Darnell, and then the second with bits from your junk drawer look great together, and I love the way you have echoed the background leaves with the added die cut leafy branch, and the plum colour of the sparkly paper and the large die cut sentiment finish it beautifully. x

  17. Awesome cards, Darnell! I can also see your postage stamp die used with tic tac toe 😊 Also awesome that you could use some of your BOB-schtuff -- I'm always amazed when someone makes something out of their bins as mine clearly don't hold the chosen jewels that everyone else's does

  18. Love the Best. Day. Ever. card. What a fun design! And the lovely leafiness of the second card definitely caught my eye, too. I also love it when bits and bobs magically come together to make a card.

  22. It's pretty darned cute how you brought the different dies and stamps together for your postage collage card, Darnell! That guy, BOB, knows how to bring a card together, too. We should all have such pretty bits! I laughed so hard at the napkin! Thanks!

  28. Postage dies are so fun to work with, and you've created a really fun card using the classic black, white and red. Your BOB card is so pretty. The background is so cool and it pairs so well with your found sparkly panel and leaf sprig. Always great when we can use a bit of the BOB on our cards. :) Thanks again for inspiring me with your IDEAS challenge. Love, Lolly
