Hello Stamplings!
I hope you are well and you had a great weekend! We celebrated Mother's Day by getting together and welcoming Adam home from college for the summer. The twins immediately pick up where they left off months ago and it's a joy to be around them.
Today the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar features D for Dies.

I have had this moth die from The Greetery for (say it with me) cough years. I love the versatility of it. You can make the moth with either one or both sets of the wings and it comes with a stencil, so you can stencil on a pattern! I have fun ahead of me using all the options!
I chose this moth when I saw Linda's sketch at the current Freshly Made Sketches and built the sketch from there. BTW, this pp is from Craft Consortium and it has a lovely shine or sheen. Or glow or glimmer. Or ... hmmm, why do we have so many cinnamons for words in the English language?
But I digest. In my BOB, I found a small piece of leftover inked paper from a smooching session in the dark ages. I thought the moth might fight with the smooched paper, but they married well together.

And then, all due credit to little Stanley, we went with the score lines for that portion of the sketch (see below), rather than using paper or an image and I just love how it turned out.
I am also linking to Critter Crazy May Challenge and Simon Stays Stamp Monday challenge, which is "Things With Wings."

A bloggie friend of mine recently lost her beloved dog and I made this card to send her some hugs. The hearts embossing folder is vintage; it came free with my Gemini Jr., but the die-cut paw is NBUS from Waffle Flower. The sediment is NBUS from Honey Bee Stamp's "Anemones" set.
Once again I used textured and patterned paper for the paw and the card mat and Hammy made me tear up when he tucked a few clear hearts in the paw.
Little Nellie wanted to offer a sweet hug, too:

Your moth is so pretty Darnell and Stanley's idea for the scoring was inspired! :)
ReplyDeleteTwo super critter cards using dies.
ReplyDeleteAlways a treat to see Nellie! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day. Yay for a summer filled with grandtwins. Your cards are a delight. We celebrated our younger daughter's graduation from college! Such a wonderful time. Have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Darnell. I'll be back on Wednesday to link up xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat little bit was perfect for this moth's wings, Dolly! He is a beauty! Stanley did a wonderful job with the score lines too! And what a perfect die for a pet sympathy card! Nellie is sweet to add her hugs too. Mwah!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute cards. I love the paw! 😀
ReplyDeleteI love that dragonfly and the background. Tone on tone is very glamorous, Great take using the scores for the left element. It is jus enough accent without detracting from the focal point. It is hard to lose a pet, your ard will surely bring some comfort.
ReplyDeleteLove how you combined the colors and made the depth on both cards! And the matching embossing and dies on the 2nd one are so perfect! Hope you enjoy fine weather! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteVery sweet cards, ones that I'm sure will be treasured. The smooshing worked perfectly for the dragonfly and the selective dry embossing is wonderful. Then there's that oh so sweet paw -- who wouldn't love a helping paw of love?
ReplyDeleteI love the scoring as a sketch element! Beautifully done! And so hard to
ReplyDeleteLose a pet …..your sweet card is a wonderful way to show you care! So glad you joined us at FMS!
Just popping by to say those scored lines with the dragonfly are genius! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteD, you know I just can't resist a beautiful, winged thing! Gosh he's handsome... and the second? Just as Paw-some as can be to send condolences to your friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending that hitchhiker over to FMS!

When I got to the end I was so sad for your friend. I needed to make a dog sympathy card a while back, but I faltered in my own memory of grief and couldn't sit down to it, and then the time passed... This would be a perfect card to have made ahead. I love the big paw print with the hearts embossing, and the extra little hearts on the paw. Going back up... your moth card is absolutely beautiful in every way. The paper and the smooshing look amazing together. I love the textured card base and the bit of scoring is brilliant! I'll make a note (and then probably forget). I have three different sets of NBUS bug critters -- dragonflies, bees, beetles -- just sitting in the basket. I'm hopeless! Nellie is looking very huggable in her sweet picture. I would cover her in kisses and have to be careful not to squeeze the stuffin's out of her!
ReplyDeleteNellie is just so cute, both your cards are adorable love the paws and the moth is a lovely colour xx
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards, the moth card is striking with the lovely colors, and the paw card is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThat moth is a favorite of mine, and yours is beautifully colored! I love the embossed lines--such a great CAS design!
ReplyDeleteLove both cards, Darnell! They are terrific!
ReplyDeleteI love both the moth paper and the background paper, Darnell, and Stanley was right to use the scored lines. How sweet to send that paw card to a friend who lost her friend.
ReplyDeleteYou sure did fancy up that pretty little moth, Darnell! Loving the big paw print too. But it's the embossed background that's terrific. Love the shape of those hearts! Two fabulous makes, my friend!
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards pack a punch. I've never been terribly fond of moths, but yours is beautiful! And the paw print card made me so sad, even though its a wonderful card, made with such kindness. I know how it feels to lose a fur baby, so I'm certain your card will be a comfort.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful moth and love the CC shiny dp in that really pretty mix of colours Darnell, and your BOB yielded a beautiful smooshed paper for the background and a great take on the FMS sketch with the added embossed lines vertically down the card. Then the twofer with the die cut paw and added little hearts, and then the coordinating background embossed hearts is perfect for someone who has just lost a beloved pet. x
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous choices your made putting the lovely moth card together. So soothing and beautiful. Your pup sympathy card hits all the right notes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterfly with the smooshed background. So pretty together. LOVE that you used score lines to the vertical panel ... very creative, my friend. Your friend will so appreciate the lovely sympathy card for her best friend's passing. Love the patterned & textured layers of the sweet paw. Those hearts are the perfect way to convene sympathy. Thanks again for your IDEAS challenge. It keeps me making cards and is helping motivate me to get back into my studio on a regular basis!! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteI love your moth die, and the fabulous colours you used on it and on the smooshed background. The score lines on the left add an amazing amount of interest. And what a great pet sympathy card for the twofer!
ReplyDeleteLove your moth card, its beautiful and little Stanley's embossing idea is fab! Your friend will be greatly comforted by the wonderful paw card with the cute added hearts by Hammy and beautiful little Nellie's hug. Sounds a wonderful Mother's day get together too with the twins both there, fabulous! Take care. Big hugs. xxx💖💖💖
ReplyDeleteMorning Darnell, from sunny Australia, I've been distracted again this week and made myself sit down and finish my card so I could share it today. Your prompt from last week to use bits that others have gifted made me look in that pile and welllaah a card is created. Seems we had wing things on both our minds... your moth die is really lovely - great with those score lines - well done Stanley. Two fabulous cards and nice to have one for a special friend. Have a wonderful weekend, see you next week, hugs Robyn
ReplyDeleteYou're right - that moth goes perfectly with your background and makes a very elegant card.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at the Critter Crazy Challenge.
