Hi there!
Here we are whooshed around to another Friday! Why don't we change Fridays to Frydays with mandatory free french fries delivered to our homes once a day? You think I'm kiddink, but I'm not. You'll have to check out the picture at the end of this post to see the glass cozy I bought while I was in Minnesota!
Hammy and I are cozily back into a routine in the Playhouse, happy as pigs in ice cream. Here we go!

Hammy and I are cozily back into a routine in the Playhouse, happy as pigs in ice cream. Here we go!
While I was at the Lake House, I showed some of the other BABES what Kylie taught me at the Happy Little Stampers retreat in England about working with Brushos and Ardyth showed us a comparison using Color Burst. It was great fun! Using one of my Tim Holtz stencils, I made this topper with Brushos and finished the card off at home with score lines and a sediment from My Favorite Things poppies stamp set. You might see some schparkle from dew drops cuz I like to photograph my cards outside.
Challenges
- Color Throwdown: See below.
- HLS October Mixed Media Challenge: Nature.
- Paper Players: CAS Leaf.
- Stamp Ink Paper: Bingo, row one down.
Today's Twofer
A simple and dirty card. The wee stain is from Waltzingmouse. All the other ingradients on my card are NBUS. The word die is from Verve, the rings are from Precious Remembrance "Positive Thoughts," and the sediment is from Concord & 9th's "You're My Person."
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!

I love the idea of Fridays coming round with free French fries! I adore your Brusho panel. I've not yet tried this fascinating medium, but it looks so amazing out in the sunshine. Have a very fabulous weekend my friend - your new mug warmer is hilarious. Xx
ReplyDeleteLove that mug Darnell - and your cards are amazing - the brusho's stencil is gorgeous, especially with the dew drops sparking. As for that coffee card - I think like that too!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
I'm all for for more Fench fries (or chips, as we call them), especially if they are free. Your mug really brought a smile to my face - your exercise mug I mean, not your face, although that would make me smile too! I love Friday because it is fish and chips for lunch day!! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteI got so carried away salivating over my fish and chips that I forgot to salivate about your card! (I almost said "over" your card but that would not be pleasant.) I love autumnal colours and love to see the trees changing colour, so your card hits the spot for me. Christine xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Fab cards.
ReplyDeleteCan't say I have ever heard of a 'Glass Cozy'.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.
Have a fab Friday. Sue
Two lovely cards, your Autumnal themed leafy card is gorgeous, those rich warm colours from the Brushos really do look like real Autumn leaves.
ReplyDeleteLorraine
How awesome to be teaching the stencil technique yourself!! Go you! Sounds like you had such fun. The colours you achieved for your leaves is amazing. Great work, my friend! xx
ReplyDeleteI have jut GOT to get some brushos to play with after seeing your gorgeous card! And I'm definitely more of an extra fries than an exercise fan!
ReplyDeleteJane
Your Brusho card is glorious, love the effect and the colours are wonderful! Your coffee card is fabulous too and the sentiment is so lovely! Chips on a Friday, definitely sounds good to me and your glass cozy just says it all, perfect! xxx
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are spreading the Brusho love Darnell. I first started using it with my 7 yr olds making autumn leaves. Their little faces were a sight to behold when they saw the magic happen. It never ceases to amaze me every time I use them even now. Di has been added to our stash by visiting the local art shop, but I'm still trying to discover what OST stands for! :)
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Darnell, I love the gorgeous colours on the brusho card and the great sentiment too. Love the cup.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Oops. I meant to say ADDING!
ReplyDeleteThank you for making me smile Darnell...love your post and your mug! I'm definitely the extra fries girl!! Love the brushos card...mine are sadly still awaiting playtime. Have a good weekend. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous coloring on those leaves!! Darnell, this card is beautiful! So, is there a big difference between brushos and color burst powders?? Your coffee card is as sweet as can be too!! So glad your back at home enjoying some crafty time with hammy.
ReplyDeleteYour time at the lake was very productive Darnell and these Brusho stencilled leaves are just gorgeous, and love your fun CAS coffee card too. It's definitely fries for me...love that cozy! x
ReplyDeleteI love the cards and the drink cozy!!
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are beautiful!! Never used the Brusho yet. Love the saying on your cozy
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the brusho powders were made specifically to make gorgeous fall leaves. SO pretty! I would take a coffee and french fry delivery service. :)
ReplyDeleteThat first card is gorgeous, Darnell. Those brushos can make some beautiful color combinations. Wow! The second card is fun. Why would you put a wet coffee cup onto a card though? (LOL) Great cup cozy! Have a great weekend! So happy you are home and playing again. :)
ReplyDeleteI will be trying my Brushos later today because I love your card. I did it once and it was a blob so perseverance will pay off! I love the coffee rings since that is always what happens. The cozy is just a fun one. I'm on board with the fries on Fryday. Could we have sundaes on Sunday too?
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards today (as I sit here sipping my autumn cuppa java) and enjoy your post! I just love those autumn leaves and I may be the only person on this earth who hasn't tried brushos yet! LOL Have a great autumn day ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the leaf card -- the stencil brushos are so pretty, and really reflect the beauty of fall. The scoring and sentiment are the perfect finishing touches.
ReplyDeleteAnd free fries -- you could get elected on that platform!
Beautiful cards, I love the leaves on the top one :) Hmmm french fries... we only eat them when we've had a healthy cycle ride, defeats the purpose I suppose but they are so good. Have a great weekend. Hugs, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteHi Dolly. Your coffee card is CAS-a-licious!! And your brushos card is so pretty with all those gorgeous watercoloured leaves in autumn colours. Your leaf card fits the CAS Watercolour challenge perfectly and would love to see you there. Lolly xx
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely creations Darnell..just love the Autumn colours on your first card and your second card is very clever...
ReplyDeleteAnne
Looks like you had a great time in Minnesota, Darnell!

Your brusho'd leaves are gorgeous, Darnell! That is a product I have never used but would love to try. Coffee cup card is adorable too, but your cozy steals the show! Hysterical! So glad you joined us this week at The Paper Players AND Stamp Ink Paper!
ReplyDeleteThe glass cozy is such fun Darnell!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful, I really love the Brusho leaves on the first one, the tones are just perfect for Autumn. The second one made me smile as poor David is always spilling his coffee.... Hugs, Annie xx
Beautiful both your cards, and the first one is really stunning! Great work with brushos and stencils!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell! I am all for French Fries delivered on Fridays! Love the cozy you got - fits my sediments exactly! The leaves card is beautiful. Have not worked much with Brushos or Color Bursts but they do make very pretty cards. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, LOVE your Koozie!!! Well, we call them koozies, but your cozy. Love your cards too!! I haven't had time to do any fall ones yet so I'm really loving that top one.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Darnell, both of your cards are stunning!! The leaves look amazing!! What gorgeous colors!! The coffee stain card is fabulous!! I almost spit water on my computer screen when I saw the cozy!! Ha!!
ReplyDeleteI have a question for you...was the issue fixed where you couldn't follow blogs? I know another person who had the problem and they can now, but I still can't follow blogs. It's so frustrating. Thanks!! Oh, my email is: indymermaid at gmail dot com. Have a great weekend!! Big hugs :)

Hi Darnell! Love your cards! The one with the coffee stain is so CAS -- exactly my style! The leaves on the other one are so pretty, I just love all the colors. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteSorry Darnell but frydays wouldn't work for me at the moment - I'd have to eat them!
ReplyDeleteI love your coffee ring card. It's a really fun idea. Might have to use that one and the autumn leaves look beautiful. The brushos work so well for leaves. Such lovely autumn colours. Barbxx
Awesome cards. I especially love the pretty leaves one but the coffee ring one is super great too.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Darnell! Love the effects of the Brushos through the stencil - gorgeous fall colours! And your coffee card sentiment made me smile. So glad you joined us at CASology this week!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Missy D! Love the autumn feel to the first and the lovely rich colour of the second. Hope you and Mr are keeping well sweetie xx
ReplyDeleteThe brusho fall leaves are just bloomin' gorgeous! You've put your UK classes to fantastic use with superb results. And love your dewdrops too! It's a lovely design. Also like the dirty circles card! Great design with the coffee word! Glad you had a good time on your last jaunt, and hope you're all rested up once again. And many thanks for the prayers! Prayers are powerful! Big hugs and have a great wkend. TFS
ReplyDeleteI'd like to say I taught Ardyth everything she knows about w/c powders, but it wouldn't be true. I did, however, encourage her to buy them. :P Gorgeous cards!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, The CAS coffee card is wonderful, but that first fall leaf card... Well, that is gorgous! Those colors are so rich, so pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you were well and truly inspired by some pretty autumn leaves during your trip to Minnesota. We have a big Maple tree in front of our house, and its leaves turn a lovely red every fall. Love your coffee card, too. I can't seem to drink a cup of the stuff without leaving a ring of the stuff somewhere!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorites, coffee and autumn leaves, gorgeous cards Darnell, those brushOs are awesome xxx

ReplyDeleteMy my you are a traveling about woman! Love the cards and wholeheartedly agree with the extra fries!! I've been playing with Color Bursts... sorry haven posted much. It's very difficult to type with one finger. I am on Facebook tho. I post my paintings there. Hugs

ReplyDeleteVal x
Gorgeous CAS cards, Darnell. Love them and coffee. Grin.

Love the leaf card, Darnell! I haven't used brushos with a stencil yet and I need to give that a try - the embossed lines really take the card up a couple notches too!! Great CAS coffee card, too. Glad you had such a great time in MN - as I have lived in MN my whole life, I'm a bit partial!
ReplyDeleteLOVED reading your posts and am so glad you had such a lovely time Darnell! It's lovely to have you back with us blogging. And showing your lovely cards and photos of course.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to tell the secret of using the Misti without magnets - I swear those things will nip one of my finger ends off one day!!
Oh - and how about 'Snowdrop'?
Hugs
Di xx
Love your quick and dirty; however your Brusho through stencil made my heart flutter! Great cards!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous pair of cards Darnell!!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteBrilliant duo of cards but the Autumn leaves really jumps out at me as the colours are wonderful.
Love the glass cosy (did wonder what one was until I saw it lol!) Only you could have something as funny as this lol!
Ang x
I came for a closer look at the terrific coffee card (and chuckled at the perfect sentiment), but have to say the autumn leaves card is just stunning!!! So glad you played along with us at CASology this week, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteLove both of your cards. Wonderful autumn colours. The leafs are just great. :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sonja
Your cards are great! And so is that Mug!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those colourful leaves on your first card Darnell and the score lines frame them beautifully! I also love the simplicity of your second card! I know you said not to bother with a return visit, but how could I not? Thank you for your visit to my blog today, it is so appreciated, especially at the moment when I feel so low! Have a wonderful weekend! Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
Darnell for president! Taking America's vote on the French Fry platform! Woo!
ReplyDeletePretty artsy leaves but that stained coffee card is a scream! And go dew drops! I take my card photos outside too. The camera barely works inside.
Extra fries? You're a riot, Darnell! Beautiful watercoloring on your first card...I love the rich autumn color palette, and your coffee stain on your 2nd card is perfect! Such a pretty sentiment, too! Thanks so much for playing along with us this week at Addicted to CAS! We always enjoy seeing your creations in the gallery :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, Darnell--love those leaves & makes me want to use my Color Burst powders!
ReplyDeleteOh pook, blogger is making me verify my comments, Darnell ... and has disappeared the witty (IMHO!) words I wrote! Ho hum! I do recall that fun coffee stain ... it's as fab here as it was at the Lake House! Don't know where I was when you were creating those splendid leaves ... how did I miss them? P'raps my attention was taken with your brilliant Brusho teach in ... or with experimenting afterwards. Either way, I'm sorry not to have seen this card IRL in all it's autumnal, dewy glory ... it's a stunner! LYASMYMA! Hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLove the colours on your leavecard! And I am no fan of coffee at all, so no fan of coffeecards eather, but this one I really like! Think you can put that energy from the babes-time in your cards for a long time! I just enjoy them...enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love those pretty leaves! Beautiful card! And I Love the coffee card...the sentiment is so perfect! Have a great sunday!
ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity of the coffee card, and the wonderful colours on the autumnal leaves! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDeletewhat a very super card and I love those wonderful Brusho leaves.
The colours are so amazing and vibrant.
Brilliant coffee card also.
I too love my chips as we call them here in the UK, but I do know that you call then fries in the US and chips are what we here in the UK cals crisps.
My DH says I like my chips too much.
There was an advert on the TV for frozen chips, and they used to say on it Daddy or Chips to the little girl, and she would answer Chips.
My DH and I quite often quote that phrase.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
Well, say no more...I'm so IN on the idea of FRYdays. Now I'm hungry, too. Your two cards are both fabulous...lovely colors achieved on that first card (wow!), and I love the simplicity of your coffee card. Thanks for taking the time to join in the fun at CASology this week!
ReplyDeleteYes yes YES to Friday Frydays!!! I am all over that - ketchup and mayo at the ready! Or malt vinegar for big steak fries. Yummy! Drooling now and it's only Monday. :(
ReplyDeleteAnyway as for your cards your Brusho stenciling is gorgeous! I remember you showing this before and I really must try it.
And the coffee card rock. A good one for me as I only discovered coffee a few years ago. How did I get through life that long in such a caffeine deprived fog?
Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
I agree...I just added some of those dry watercolor bits (I can't remember which ones and am too lazy to go look.) I think they make fantastic backgrounds...especially this time of year for leaves.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are wonderful and I am glad you are back in the swing of things.
Two more awesome creations! Love the scored lines between the HB sentiment and the GORGEOUS leaves - seems to really draw the eye down to the beautiful fall colors!
ReplyDeleteYour second card looks like my work desk, my craft room table, my kitchen counter, my bathroom vanity...you get the picture and you KNOW that I don't go anywhere without my coffee cup...so totally love this card!!!
Extra Fries versus Exercise...sure do know what I'd pick...cuz eating fries doesn't make yo sweat...and I don't do sweat now that I'm old!
Love your gorgeous leaves, and your perfectly CAS coffee card. Thanks so much for playing along at CASology this week.
