Vellum Congrats!

[If you're looking for my NBUS Challenge, click here.]

Welcome to the fresh-squeezed delight of a Monday!

I did something I very rarely do. I stopped in the middle of making a card and made another card! Oh, I know, some of you are thinking what the confectionery is she talking about? But others of you will know that I (even with a hamster in my head helping me) can only do one project at a time from start-to-finish-done-move-on.

So what would make me step out of my process rut? Debby Hughes. The much-loved, much-CASEd, much-respected star of the clean and simple card. This week she is starring as the September Muse over at CASE Study

Here is my take on Debby's inspiration card:
I have to say that the papers are all just from my stash and I have no idea the manufacts of the green. That vellum came just as you see it, printed and embossed by K&Company years ago! I did try several different colors for the card base and sediment because the vellum has so many pretty choices, but in the end, the green was my favorite. To attach the vellum I wrapped it around a scrap of card and I also put wee bits of adhoosive discreetly under the flowers on the front. Then I attached it to a scrap of cardboard to make it really pop. The congrats sediment was made from a die by PTI and the hearts are sugar dots by Anna Marie.

Here is Debby's beautiful card that inspired me:
It's really wonderful to see vellum on cards again. I love the softness it gives a card. When I saw Debby's card, I knew just the narrow scraplet of vellum paper that I had been hoarding for an occasion just like this. Plus, I recently sorted my pp, so, yes, I had just seen this in my stash. Considering that, it was awfully nice of Debby to make her card and for me to see it at CASE Study so I could use it and play along! All the DT and gallery cards are sumptious!!

Onkey donkey, I'm going back to my other card. There are SO many fun challenges happening right now. In fact, I'm also going to link this card to:

Pixie's Snippets Playground, where the only requirement is you use some snippets (scraps) on your creation.

Virginia's View Challenge to use patterned paper. My vellum is patterned and vellum is paper, so I think it is okay.

City Crafter Challenge "I Can See Clearly," to use vellum.

Pixies Crafty Workshop
The links will take you to the challenges where you can find all the details on rules, sponsors, and prizes!

Never-Before-Used-Schtuff (Stamps, Dies, EFs, etc.)NBUS REMINDER

The Challenge ends on September 25th. Thank you to all who have entered!!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment and/or join as a follower! Please let me know you came by, so I can be sure and return the flavor!

I've gotten quite addicted to vellum myself, but I've never tried coloring on it yet. Apparently there's a kind of glue that shouldn't be visible though vellum, but I don't remember where I read that, I'd really like to get hold of some.... The colors of your card are so soft and delicate, and the light minty green works so well as background.

Hi Darnell
Coooooo, this is fantabulous! Trying to work out if you have just wrapped vellum around some gorgeous paper or something more as it looks embossed and like it has real depth.
I must have an army of hamsters yomping through my head as I've always got at least two cards on the go hahaha!
Bee good.

Darnell, what a stunning card. You are going to have to tell more on the vellum. It is sensational. Did you colour yourself, has it been embossed, it does look as though the flowers have bulk to them. This card is such an eye catcher. Brilliant

Your card is beautiful!!!!! I just started using vellum and I'm loving it. Kimberly from Stamping by the Sea uses it all the time and I decided to try it. As always I enjoy reading your blog (too funny) and your cards. Take care.

I don't know why, but my mouth started watering the moment I saw this card. Maybe because my brain associated it's colours with that of a delicious looking sugar candy. That's what your card is, delicious. I think it was a brilliant idea to pop up the printed vellum, it adds so much interest. And are those enamel dots? Or candy? ;) *drooling*
