CAS(E) This Sketch With a Birthday Card and a First-Time Case Study

Ah, the smell of a Monday and a whole new week!

I had the juices flowing yesterday and made two cards for unconnected challenges so this will be, I guess, a two-part postie.

Part One:

For my first card, I'm playing in two of my favorite challenges.  First, we have the challenge at  CAS(E) This Sketch where this week's sketch is fun and fetching and designed by one of my card-making faves, N@Ali.

Talk about a keeper sketch!  It just bubbles over with happiness!

I'm also entering my first card in the current challenge at Addicted to CAS (ATCAS) where the code word is "birthday."

The sponsor for this challenge is the ever poplar:

We always need those birthday cards in our stash.  I hope you get a chance to go over and play along.  Don't forget to bookmark this one, too ~ you'll find an endless supply of birthday card inspiration for future use!!

And this is my first card:

I know and you prolly know that I already have quite a few fun drinkie-poo stamps, but c'mon, I just had to get this one from Impression Obsession with the candle and the itty-bitty cakes instead of olives!

I spruced up the birthtini even further with Glossy Accents.  The enamel dots are from My Mind's Eye.

~~~
Part Two:
My second card was made for a challenge that I've admired for a very long time.  I'm thrilled to bits to finally have made a card to enter the Case Study Challenge #141 .  The artist this week is the exceptionally talented Maile Belles, and this is her inspiration card:
Isn't that a cool card?  She's a phenom nom nom!
Here is my take on Maile's card:
Did you notice that those little circles are actually diamond rings?  They were made with an old SU! stamp I used as a backdrop for the "love" word, which is a Paper Smooches "wise die."  I popped up and paper-pieced the "love" and attached a SU! heart charm with a short piece of Doodle Time twine.  The diamonds were supplied via a Sakura Gelly Roll clear star pen.
I hope to be able to play in this challenge again soon and I hope to see you there as well!
~~~

We have two new friends joining our party today!  I'm delighted to welcome Sue from Sue's Stamping Stuff and Trisha Theophilopoulos.  We are happy to have you along and I appreciate the support very much!

~~~
Enjoy your day!  No, seriously, enjoy.  LITS*!
Thank you so much for stopping by the Playhouse. Special thanks to you if you take the time to leave a comment or join as a follower!
You were on a roll yesterday. I just love both of these, and cannot pick a favorite. You've got me wanting to dig through my stamps, though...I'm pretty sure I have that first stamp, or something like it. I forgot how fun it was.
My first thought, before I read your commentary, was "hmmm how many drink stamps does Darnell have?" But I can see why you added this one, with it's candle swizzle stick and cupcake olives. You are such a clever girl. Your second card is no slouch either. I love the way your mind works.
Jeanne J. said...
EEEK!!! I don't know which one I love more - the martini? (I do love me a martini) and oh my gosh - talk about making it all your own - the rings with the "love" and the bitty charm? Just brilliant!
Geri said...
Love how your mind works! You're on fire girl! Seriously, your clever and creative approaches to these challenges are second to none! "Brilliant" idea to use the diamond ring (actually beyond clever) and snapping up this martini stamp was another slam dunk...but coloring the image like you did (glossy accents included) is what puts your cards over the top every single time.
Creativity lives at this blog!
Eeek. These are both so right-up-my-alley. That "birthtini" stamp is outta this world. Could just stamp it and call it good to go - so clever. Love how you minimally colored it. And the "rings" - genius at work my friend. I know it's hard to go wrong with Maile B. as a muse, but still!
Chrissy Larson said...
These are both adorable, Darnell! Your cards always make me want to come meet you. They are so fun so you must be a hoot to hang out with! Thanks so much for joining us at CAS(E) this Sketch.
